The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Do not bother looking for me. Don't look for my brother either. He is not into gardening and prefers harvesting the fruits.
He knew this was what Gunne had written in her letter, and he knew what she had meant by it, but he wasn't interested in taking orders from his wife's niece. Whatever had happened to her, she must have did something dumb to get arrested and put away. The Morrigans were losing their influence and power, but there was still one key figure in the family that Ibrahim needed to talk to, to know where he stood and what he could expect of him, and that was Keelan Morrigan. According to Gunne, he wasn't an outspoken anti-Rainecourt protester, and he preferred working with them to gain fame and money. If that was the case, Ibrahim would need to have a word with his wife's nephew.
The tall man arrived at the docks and made his way over to the Seahawk. He knew were to find Keelan. The man seemed to spend a lot of his time on his ship.
He walked up the plank leading up to the ship and would be stopped by one of Keelan's servants (possibly Bulger?). If the servant was not a complete moron, he would know that Ibrahim was a Bashar, and the Bashar had quite the reputation and name. One of the oldest and richest families in all of Nevermere. They even had a lake named after them.
"Bring me to lord Morrigan", the big-nosed man said, not even bothering with introducing himself. "Tell him his family is here to see him."

Bulger and the few men and witches standing with him looked between Keelan's top man and this....man. Bulger remained quiet and observed this man when a fellow spoke up, "You related to a lady Violet Bashar, my lord?" it was the very man who had been intercepted by the mentioned woman's name, "Shut it Parker," Bulger responded his eyes never leaving the big nosed man, "Follow me my lord."
Keelan's top man, Bulger, would lead the visitor on to the ship and then below deck. Keelan's office door was just opening as the pair approached and two men dragged an unconscious beaten and battered man from the cabin, "Theif," Bulger divulged to the man (he was still trying to figure out just who this man was) and they entered the office.
Keelan was removing a pair of brass knuckles off his hands, washing blood off of his hand still yet to turn around, "What is it Bulger?"

Apparently Keelan didn't train his servants well enough, or perhaps it was just that commoners were too dumb to understand how to properly address someone like Ibrahim. He didn't even look at Parker. The man was so far below him that Ibrahim wouldn't give him the pleasure of having met eyes with the head of the Bashar. The question had been completely disrespectful as well. He was not related to her, she was related to him. Of course, technically, that was the same thing, but not to Ibrahim. He was a man, and she was a woman. He was older, she was his niece. In his opinion, women were always related to men. They wouldn't be anything if they didn't marry a man. They served their man, cared for him and respected him while the man brought ideas and plans to the table to make the family bigger and stronger.
The big man told Parker to shut it, which was a smart move. Ibrahim wouldn't have been so tactful, which said a lot since Bulger wasn't exactly subtle about it either. Without wasting a word on Parker, Ibrahim followed behind Bulger and stopped a meter or so from the door when two men dragged another out of Keelan's office. It had been a while since Ibrahim had seen a man covered in blood like this. He wasn't very violent, but could appreciate seeing someone all beaten up if they had it coming. What he would do to be able to beat up Julius Rainecourt.
Ibrahim walked through the door and witnessed Keelan taking off some brass knuckles. The Morrigans asked Bulger why he had interrupted, but Ibrahim wouldn't give Bulger the opportunity to respond before speaking himself.
"Keelan, you ought to teach your men about your extended family. This one doesn't even know who I am."

"Yes I ought to," Keelan rolled down his sleeves and began to button them finally turning back to the pair of men his electric blue eyes on his cousin, "But I barely know you myself Ibrahim, your niece paid me a visit not long ago, are the Bashar leaving their sheep farming behind to come wrestle for crumbs of power? I've met a living breathing Ellis cousin..." Keelan approached his liquor cabinet grabbing two glasses and a bottle, "Care for a drink?"
Post by Ibrahim Bashar on Sept 19, 2023 3:17:36 GMT -5
Keelan could pretend all he wanted about being a fine businessman, but the specks of blood on the ground and his blue killer eyes confirmed what Ibrahim already knew about the man. "Plenty of sheep in the city", he responded as he lowered himself into a chair. He didn't mind that people thought the Bashar were sheep farmers. It were their servants who did that, but as long as they appeared to be in the sheep business, it meant that his troops were still a secret. There was little to no way someone would ever find out about it. The Bashar's lips were sealed, and so we're the lips of those connected to them.
"Yes, please", Ibrahim responded when Keelan offered him a drink. "And tell me about this Ellis cousin, if you will." It was an understatement to say it intrigued him. He didn't know about an Ellis cousin. The news hadn't reached Lakeview Keep. He also did wonder why his niece had come to see Keelan, but he'd have to ask her about that. He didn't want to give Keelan the power to manipulate the story. But if it was Violet who came to see him... She was good at manipulating as well.

"Then it's a good thing I don't tend nor care much for sheep...or farmers," Keelan poured both men a drink as Bulger took to standing beside Keelan behind his large mahogany desk the Morrigan took a seat, "The Ellis is a Witch. She's also in service of the King currently serving as Governor of Cambria. Princess Tara Ellis...or Odina Ellis I believe now. Twas quiet the revelation at open court."

Ever the cautious type, Ibrahim waited for Bulger and Keelan to take a sip from their drink before he did so. You never knew who might be trying to poison you. Once he was sure it was safe, he joined in enjoying the drink and let the taste linger on his tongue before he spoke. Speaking in metaphors never became tiresome, but he didn't feel like continuing it right now. The sheep in the city didn't have wool, of course. They were just blindly following Cassian.
"What do they gain from that?" he asked, which was a genuine question. "And why did this Tara not reach out to the Morrigans or the Bashar before working with Cassian?" He thought for a moment before he took another sip to cleanse his mouth for his next sentence. "But then again, neither did you. I heard you're going to be working with him as well."

"She did, had a whole family meeting about it, but I'm not head of the Morrigan family nor am I a glorified messenger," Keelan spat with zero luster or warmth, "But if they gained anything by sending her there we'll common sense would dictate that they are keeping her away from Nevermere yes? It'd be a risk to say on the Crowns part to poke old Ellis loyal families by keeping her here," Keelan shrugged, "I'm working for my future sure, I always have and always will work for me and my benefit."

Ibrahim crossed his legs and cocked his head to the side. "Yes, I've been asking myself what you are exactly, and it appears that although you carry the Morrigan name, you're rather useless." He took a sip of his drink and put it down on the desk. "Your future", he repeated, with a mocking tone in his voice. "Tell me, Keelan. Does that future have the Morrigan name in it, or are you planning to become a branch of Morrigan on your own?" Keelan could be dangerous, or just completely harmless. If he didn't want anything to do with the Morrigans, then Keelan was useless to Ibrahim. "What does Adder think of all of this?"
Post by Keelan Morrigan on Sept 21, 2023 13:30:12 GMT -5
"You call me useless and I call you a fool," Keelan said back just as harsh just as mockingly, "You know what I've done for the Morrigan name while dear Uncle Adder has done nothing but let it fall in despair; I own more than half of the businesses in Skia, I have more than 30 ships basically a fleet, all two hundred and fifteen men in my employment are retired or discharged soldiers just as loyal to me as they were in service, I have people in places within the military and court who report back to almost daily the comings and goings of the Crown, and now I'm branching the Morrigan name into both Coheed and Cambria not just with the idea of shipping but land trade and Morrigan Covens. Since the Crown murdered MY PARENTS and half of Uncle Adder's siblings I have built the fucking name," Keelan rose from his chair a finger pounding the top of his desk as he leaned forward toward Ibrahim, "I didn't retreat and sit oh so idly by like my Uncle Adder and I didn't run for the fucking mountains...the Morrigan influence is carried by me always has and always will, don't come into my fucking home and disrespect me not now or ever again."

Ibrahim stuck out his bottom lip a bit in an unimpressed way. "Wow, Keelan, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were a woman. Their toes tend to end up being stepped on, but I hadn't expected you to be so verbal about your emotions." Ibrahim lifted his glass again and blew some air out of his nose, amused by himself and how short Keelan's fuse was.
"You're not spreading the Morrigan name, my boy. You're spreading Keelan all over Terra Nova. I mean, good for you", he said before leaning closer over the desk, "but don't pretend that you're doing it for your family. You're no family man. You're a selfish bastard."
The Bashar man offered the other an insincere smile. "There is no 'Morrigan influence' anymore. You're the only one who's still out there, and you don't share the family's values at all. Do I even need to ask you if you know what happened to your sister? You're all alone, Keelan. Stop acting like you rule a family. At best, you're ruling over the ruins of something that once was, but didn't survive because the family didn't stick together."

Keelan smirked and sat back down, "Show this man out Bulger, remember Ibrahim what enemies you can make here," and Keelan would return to his work and his drink. What did he have to prove to this man? Keelan was a fixer and he was schemer, he could damage reputations. He had killers just waiting for his say, what he also had was the ear of the King too. However what he wouldn't do is play this game with a man whose family tucked tail and ran.

Technically, they had indeed run, but back in the day when Julius took over Nevermere, everything had worked out in their favour. The family had been living far outside of Skia for centuries, and the story was that they had been there to begin with during the usurpation. Because of their wealth, nobody really batted at eye or wondered why they lived so secluded. They just had their own estate and lived too far to come to Skia all the time. Ibrahim was an off-site trainer and led his own mandatory training camps at the Keep, which seemed to be enough for everyone in Skia to have faith in him and what he was doing. Nowhere, never, had the family shown any kind of resentment towards the crown and the royal family, because they were smarter than that. The Morrigans were the ones that were too obvious with it.
"The same goes for you, Keelan", Ibrahim said before slapping his thighs and getting up from the chair, leaving the rest of the drink on the desk. "I'm sure I'll see you when you need something. Have a nice day. I'll let Julene know her nephew asked about her." The last part of his sentence sounded sarcastic, because it was. Keelan obviously didn't care about his family at all. He hadn't even asked him about his aunt.
Ibrahim turned on his heels and would walk out the door, not waiting for Bulger to escort him like he was a little child.
