The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Kasper is young enough to fall under the werewolf curse, yet it is dormant. Should the curse be activated his wolf form will be that of a white shaggy fur color keeping his smallness even though he is still rather large for a werewolf. His eyes also retain their green color.
Kasper and Evanthe were fresh off the boat, for Kasper he was fresh off the boat again. He was calling this his second deployment of his military career and it would look good on his records he thought. All his priorities back home were in order the family was fine and Sanska was a brilliant growing mind, he really wasn't worried. Still, his heart felt half empty now, emptier than when they lost Mina or his parents losing his twin was truly profoundly baffling. It had crushed him worse than even Faylin who he was glad he wasn't thinking about anymore.
Evanthe though, she was pretty and he might have seen her naked after one of their paired training exercises. As they headed off to Abbotts quarters Kasper gave a passing tour of Coheed (trying not to show that he was being protective of her from some potentially nasty Coheed men; he didn't really realize it either).
"Abbott probably doesn't like me, heads up on that," he mentioned to Evanthe casually, "When he told me about Kat, I wanted to come home for the kids and take a few days, he said no. Commander Usher said otherwise, I'm sure that chaffed the man's ass...he won't take it out on you though...maybe?"

Evanthe hadn’t been in Nevermere a year before they’d sent her back out to Coheed. Some may have been dismayed, but Evanthe found herself feeling quite whimsical. Not that the people were happy little peas, but the sun shone so brightly, it was hard not to feel chipper.
She walked with Kasper as they made their way to Abbott’s quarters. She’d been to Coheed before and had not needed the tour, but she did not stop him. It didn’t hurt, and she might learn about something that she’d missed before, plus it gave them an excuse to talk. Being the fresh partners that they were, Evanthe wanted to take any excuse to build more rapport with him. Not only would it would make everything a lot easier when it came to the change, but she also genuinely liked him and wanted to chat with him.
“Good to know,” she said, “I think he likes me, so maybe that can smooth the way, hm?” She’d not had a bitter word with her superior anyways. There was always the chance that the civility was faked she supposed, but that seemed a waste of energy for a man like Abbott, “Wait, he didn’t let you see the kids when Kat died?” She could hardly believe it. What happened to Kat was a tragedy, and she’d left a lot of people behind.

In hindsight Aldrich had realised that it had been mean to not let the Kasper go to his family after his sister's death, especially without explaining his reasoning, but what's done was done. The captain had overruled his orders, and he wasn't bitter about it. But, and of course there was a but, Kasper's trip back to Nevermere had caused a delay on the rebuild of the dock, which Kasper was overseeing.
He wondered if Kasper and Evanthe had heard about Izen's death and everything that had went down between Izen, Magda and Rian. It had definitely created some tension in the kingdom.
Aldrich was in his office, in his quarters, waiting for the two soldiers to arrive.

Kasper nodded, "I mean I get it, we were sent here to do a job and who else gets privileges to go home if something happened to a loved one?" Kasper knew the answer, a noble would be going home and a commoner would have had to suck it up, only Kaspers situation was more unique than most since he has such a ridiculously large family; the commoner Van Zants in the military were the poor version of the Delaney family in the military, of you spit in any direction you were bound to hit either a Van Zant or a Delany.
"It's whatever, I let it go and I'm back, which reminds me you'll be helping me complete the rebuild of the docks," Kasper informed her as they drew nearer to Abbotts quarters, "So we're going to sell the shit out of that, you good with that?" before he knocked he looked at his partner for confirmation and opted for her to knock.

Evanthe knew without him saying it who exactly would be allowed to return home first because of a tragedy at home. Power discrepancy was nothing new in Nevermere, and being a made noble herself, well…sometimes she forgot about the perks of the title her father had earned for them all.
“It is what it is, yeah?” She said giving his shoulder a pat. He was right, no sense in holding a grudge on something you had no power to change, “At least you were allowed to get home in the end though right?”
“Sounds like a big job,” she said, thinking about the ruined docks that she’d seen on their way in, “I think we’re up for the task,” she grinned, “Let’s make it the best damned docks this side of Terra Nova!” The grin had not left her face as she lifted her fist to knock. She knew they’d pound that task like an errant bug on a wall. She would wait until Abbott gave them permission to enter before opening the door.

"Come on in", he said when the soldiers arrived.
Once they entered he'd look from one to another and nod. Then he'd look back at Kasper. "I hope your family is well", he said, not really knowing what else to say to him. He had never really liked Kat, so it wasn't much of a loss to him.

Kasper nodded as she knocked and Aldrich called them in, he stood at attention in front of Aldrich Evanthe beside him.
"Van Zants adapt sir, thank you," Kasper replied honestly, "We just arrived this morning sir, I've filled Private Curran in on the task I was given prior to my leave, she's on board with knocking the task out with me."

"Good", he said in regards to what Kasper said about filling in Evanthe. He was also glad the young man was alright.
When Evanthe spoke, he looked at her. He hesitated a second. "Yes, maybe. Izen Cyrilson has been killed after raping Rian Cyrilson's wife, Magda Ivanova, so be alert. We're not sure yet how the people will respond." He waited a moment to let them have a reaction before continuing. "Apart from that, everything should be smooth sailing. We want to integrate the Parabolti even better, so I might need to borrow Curran every now and then."
We won't call it quits. We'll call it the start.

Kaspers face didn't hide the danger or worry, "Rape? Weeping witches, Kaalim Cyrilson, the big one..he didn't uh," he scratched the back of his head, "Rage out? Do...do you know what that man is capable of sir? I saw what his rage was like at their last festival and for his brother to be killed...I..I know how he will feel."

Evanthe’s attention sharpened at the mention of rape. Anger rose in her belly. She could only imagine what the backlash may be. She wished she could bring the man back to life just so she could make him wish he’d never thought to touch a woman. Alas, that wasn’t one of her abilities.

"I've seen and spoken Kaalim once since. I offered my condolences", he shot Evanthe a look that was apologetic in a way. He didn't condone rape, but Kaalim had still lost a brother, "and he seemed rather unphased. He didn't want to talk about it much. I'll keep an eye on his behaviour." He nodded at Kasper, actually pleasantly surprised that he spoke up about this rage he had seen.
He then looked at Evanthe when she asked her question. At this point in time, he hadn't gone over to Magda's quarters to check on her, but he was planning on doing that that day. "I haven't heard that she isn't, but I'm heading over to her quarters later today to check up on her." He hoped that satisfied Evanthe.

"I have good report with the dock workers and a few of their warriors, so we'll keep our ears open for anything about feelings," Kasper added, surely rumors would be running rampant, "Is there anything else sir? We'd like to get down to the docks and look at the progress since my absence."

Evanthe only nodded at Abbott’s words. She didn’t personally know Magda, but she thought that she should make an introduction soon. Women needed to stick together in Coheed, witch or no.
The witch had nothing to add to the conversation, and would wait and see if Abbott had anything else to say.

Aldrich nodded, appreciative of what Kasper promised. "Good. Thank you." He looked from one soldier to another. "That will be all for now. Go down to the docks, I will pop by in a few days to see for myself how things are going. Good luck, Van Zant, Curran. I will see you soon." He nodded, to dismiss them, and would go back to his paperwork.
