The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Autumna
(Open thread)
The sun had started to go down and even though there were plenty of things for Rhedara to do at home she decided to spend the remainder of the day walking outdoors toward the docks while the weather still had a pleasant warmth lingering from Aestas. Goddess, it was Autumna already. To think that the last time the leaves fell from the trees, the last time she was patrolling as one of the kings soldiers was nearly a year ago. It felt like more time had passed than that. How strange. How strange how fast time flew by now that she wasn’t a child, how strange because of what all could happen in one year. From losing her job, to finding to losing love, then an opportunity to marry a Morrigan. If someone told her that all that would happen—especially having a Morrigan as a suitor, she would have cursed them for teasing her with such lies. But there she was. What would her mother think of her if she gained the noble title that she had so easily thrown away?
She was drawn from her reverie by a flash of fire in her peripheral. Frowning, she turned toward the source and saw a shirtless man…spitting fire? She’d seen plenty of witches do something similar during training, but seeing a man spit fire was a novelty, and she found herself drawing closer to the crowd of fishmongers and fishwives. Now that she was closer, she saw a whole slew of performers, some were also playing and dancing with fire, while others were setting up some sort of stage that had a long rope. What were they doing, she wondered?

Zarha has only been back for a couple of days and she was already missing Coheed, she was missing Kaalim, she was also missing Leander. For somebody who used to being ignored by the men here in Never. It got to the part of her life where she got used to her own company. So Zarha was walking along the beach as she look out onto the water, she knew she could fly out, however, she could hear Aldrich's voice saying that she couldn't use this gift until he felt like she can use this for the country.
As she was walking she heard cheering and saw something looking like a fire eater and curiosity got over her as she walked towards her. As she got closer she spotted a familiar face. "Rhedara?" There was a warm smile lit her face.

Rhedara turned her head at the sound of her name and saw someone she hadn’t seen in a while, “Zarha?” It took her a moment to recognize her. She thought her skin was darker than she remembered. Was that from the sun? She heard of people’s skin temporarily gaining a darker tint when they left Nevermere, but shed’ not seen one—or at least hadn’t known someone pre-tan, “How are you?” She said, a smile formed on her face with genuine pleasure, “You look so different! How was Coheed? Or did yo ago to Cambria?”

Zarha gave a warm laugh when Rheadara mentioned that she looked different. "It was hot. The sun was beautiful and different an experience, surprisingly i had fun." There was a warm laugh that came from her. The last time Readara saw her she was too much into work and she was still learning a lot about balancing but she was indeed learning what the things she enjoyed. "How have you been? What are you doing these days?"

“How was the sun beautiful?” She asked, thinking of that bride orb that was usually hidden behind grey clouds, an image she’d seen her whole life. She remembered stories her mother had told her, of a time when the world had not been so grey, “A lot has happened…and yet nothing has happened,” she shrugged, “things are going well with my job. I’ll be going on tour of the kingdom. Raff wrote to me he doesn’t want to be with me anymore,” hadn’t even said it to her face, “and now I’m helping my boss find a wife,” she didn’t mention that she had her own ambitions to be the one to marry her boss. Didn’t need that spreading around before she knew she had his full attention.
Then she waved a hand in the air, as if dismissing her own goings ons, “But tell me of what you have been up to!” She said, “I’ve never been outside of Neveremere. What all happened there? Was it more or less what we do here?”

Zarha thought about sun, "It was warm, it doesn't just make the day brighter, but oddly it makes you want to smile more. It just made my mood brighter. Which is odd I know." Zarha laughed softly as they both knew it was rare for the both of them to hear her laugh. "I am sorry to hear about Raff, honestly he a jerk to write and dump you. real man don't dump by letter." She tried to be supportive.
"It was pretty much the same there as it was here, help with the training of the women. However we couldn't train with magic, so that was a pain. At first I had i thought I escaped Abbott for a bit, however, Commander Hadrian decided to send him over, i think mostly to annoy me. even though i think we have a sort of understanding i still think he hates my guts."
Zarha thoughts for a bit. "What else is new... not a lot really. I still train but more relaxed about things."

“Not so odd,” Rhedara said, pursing her lips, “I remember my mother saying the same thing. Did you know that the sun used to shine brighter here?”
“It was rather jerkish of him, huh,” she thought back to the letter, how her own hair had fallen out of the folds of the letter, “But looking back…I don’t think he was that nice to me anyways. So,” she bit her lip, “I think it was for the better that it happened.”
Rhedara made a face at the thought of Abbott. Although she’d come to the conclusion that him getting her kicked out had worked in her favor in the end, she still didn’t like him, “Is there anybody that he does like?”
