The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Akagi had been home as he said he would be since the day following the trial, a bit had changed for the Prince he had cut his hair and accepted the bit of facial hair that had began to fill out his face. Also he had both the lobes of his ears pierced and now they sported just a black gem. He was still wearing his Peacekeepers uniform, the light and casual uniform.
The Crowned Prince was entertaining some of his guards with his adventures, "Oh and in Loren they have this street combat kind of thing," by entertaining them that meant he physically reenacted the entire fight with Regan Lassiter from what he did, her actions, and finished it with a little lie about ending the night with a beer at a local tavern, "I fought a Witch of Nevermere boys! It was awesome but ya know...keep this between us?"
That was when his Mother and siblings entered the dining room, Akagi like the guards seemed to snap into attention in a straight line beside each other. Arms clasped behind his back but he wore that Akagi smile...he had been in charge of this dinner bringing them all the foreign foods of Nevermere and Lorendale together.
When Sylas had found out that his brother had returned home for good he had made it appoint to make sure that he was home as well for it. It had been a while since they'd all be gathered together, many of them having spent much of the last season traveling. Sylas was still back and forth between home and Lorendale and while the beginning of autumna had him spending most of his time in Lorendale, he had found more and more reasons why he needed to return home in recent weeks. He had a feeling that his long term stay in Lorendale was coming to an end, instead switching it for occasional visits.
He immediately noticed Akagi's change of appearance and raised a brow as he moved towards the table. "And what does your betrothed think of your new look?" he asked. Was that a tease? From Sylas? Maybe Kezia really was having an influence on the typically stoic prince.
Kalini had been deep in her latest project. Which actually was just the beginning stages. Having found herself almost buried in a pile of books, the necklace that hung around her neck was opened and she was using the glasses as a regular wear. Her fingers ran down the pages as she searched for a particular paragraph she knew she had read at some point but couldn't remember the exactly part. That was, until a knock came to her door.
Oh right, Akagi was home. She looked up and then back down at the book. Dogearring the page before she stood up and looked down at her clothing. She didn't think her current state would be approved by mother, so with a quick switch into a dark navy dress, and her glasses closed back up to look like a simple necklace that rested just below her breasts, she moved to the meeting spot. While she was glad to see her brother home and no longer popping around between Arynn Frey, Lorendale, and Nevermere, she'd be lying if she said that he was the reason her face lit up when she walked in the room. Sylas was home too.
She loved Akagi, she also loved Ness. But Sylas was the sibling she most got along with. It was in her quick steps that gave away her actual excitement, even if she kept her face trained as she had been taught growing up. "Brothers," she greeted. Her eyes lingering on Sylas and she was sure he would know that it was the closest thing to her hugging him that he'd get. Though she did step towards Akagi, assuming he would want the physical one. "Are we finally going to see your faces around here more often, or are you going to disappear to woo your princess further?" She looked towards Akagi first, then shifted her eyes to Sylas, "And you to your lover?" The corner of her lip twitched as she teased them both.

Kimora entered behind her children, Kite by her side. She would pause for a moment, considering her eldest child and his new look. She would be lying if she said that she didn't think that it suited him better than those absurd long locks of his. She'd bit her tongue, hoping and praying that it was something that would be little more than a passing phase. Thankfully, he'd dealt with the issue himself before his mother had decided that she would have it done for him. She'd already set a date in her mind of one month before his wedding. Thankfully, that was one argument that she wasn't going to have to happen. The queen exchanged a knowing look with her husband before joining those younger.
She would look at the foreign food that Akagi had brought back with him. It was nothing that Kimora hadn't seen or heard of before and frankly, she was the sort who would almost inevitably prefer Arynnite refinement but it did make a change. "I see that you've been busy." The queen would speak as she settled on down at the table. It was nice to be reunited as a family. Kimora was very much of the impression that things were beginning to go well for the Royal family now that they had reclaimed their rightful positions as the ruling monarchs that they were born to be.
The queen paused for a moment, glancing round the table and ensuring that all of her family was settled before continuing: "It's good to have you back here with us. Please, you must tell us of all your travels."
Ness had been spending more time in Lorendale of late. Sylas was there, and she had started to make other friends, too. It was different than before, but she suspected that was because she was older than before. Still not officially an adult, but soon.
She didn't realized how much she had missed home until she stepped through the door and into her room. It was a wonderland of enchantments that made the ceiling a dystopian sky, the pictures on the walls constantly moving, and even her bed took to walking around, grazing on dust particles--among other fantastical things in her space. She changed into a pretty orange dress with a neck and long sleeves before skipping out into the palace halls. Her pace slowed each time she came upon a diplomat, but when they turned the corner she didn't shy away from letting her glee be seen. The Peacekeepers standing guard didn't flinch--they were used to her antics.
She came in after her mother and father, not intentionally, but hurried to her gathering siblings first.
"Akagi!" She cried in delight, throwing out her arms and, if he allowed her to, wrapping them around his neck in an earnest embrace. "Welcome home, brother." She'd plant a kiss on his cheek if he didn't deny her before letting him go. She'd just seen Sylas virtually hours ago, so instead of greeting him she moved in towards Kalini.
"Sister." She purred the word, like a soft, warm kitty gently meows as it kneads against its mother's stomach. She'd approach her with more grace, still seeking to hug the only remaining sister she had. Losing Una still hurt her heart, but it was something she didn't dwell on. Instead she cherished Kalini all the more.
From there, she moved towards her parents. Before reaching them she dipped into a deep, proper bow, and then moved to kiss her father's cheek and hug her mother's shoulders.
"I agree!" She raised her eyes and voice towards Akagi Llewellyn. "I want to hear about everything. Especially Nevermere." She took her seat close to their mother.

Akagi beamed at Sylas and the wise crack, it was a good kind of different, "She hasn't seen it yet, but Mother will be happy I'm sure," but it was @kalini and her hug that Akagi returned affectionately that turns his attention from Sylas. It felt good, he loved his siblings, "I am back! For a while of course, and lover?" he cut a quizzical gaze toward Sylas, did she mean the Dresmondi? Akagi had been so wrapped up in his own adventures that he unfortunately didn't spent a lot of time with the pair.
His face lit up seeing his Mother and Father, he noted her looking at his Father, pretty sure she was silently relieved to see him with a hair cut. He was beaming as he nodded to his Mother's question about him being busy. He simply gave a resorting bow so she could take her seat at the table. Ness came toward him with her usual giddiness that set Akagi on fire, she was the bubbliest of any person he had ever met and it gave Akagi a warm feeling. The world could use more Nessness. He didn't shy one but from her hug and kiss before she pulled to greet the others.
Once everyone was seated Akagi took his seat and dived right into telling about his adventures: the odd darkness of Nevermere, the battle between the Kings Witch and a commoner Soldier, black sandy beaches, and the magic of their Witches. He told them about Lorendale and it's seemingly endless events and gatherings, their wedding ceremony, and how he met blonde Gifteds that they aren't only red headed! Of course he included many positive and sweet things about Princess Althea. However he also left out...other things...ditching a birthday and his underground fight club fight with a Nevermere witch that he actually brought to his workshop. That wouldn't be a good idea to tell Mother. She wouldn't like it.
Finally finished he smiled and drank some wine, "Tell me what's been going on here at home? The Dresmondi? How amazing is that to have them here?"
Sylas met @kalini's eye when she greeted them and he gave her a warm smile. The two of them had always got along particularly well and it was good to see her again after spending so much time away. He would have ignored the lover comment she made except that Akagi Llewellyn had picked up on it too. At least some of the family had met Kezia but the fact that she was actually from Dresmond and not from Arynn Frey was still not something that Sylas had yet mentioned, keeping her true origins under wraps. He and Kezia had been pretending to be lovers for a while now, it gave her a reason for them to travel together without people asking questions. Though things had...progressed to something more real between them of late.
Rather than verbally responding to either of them, Sylas gave a noncommittal shrug, though a hint of color tinged the tips of his ears. He was glad when his parents had entered, shortly followed by @ness. He had seen a lot of Ness these days, she had been staying with him a lot in Lorendale. He was glad too, it was nice to still have family around.
They all settled in and Sylas listened attentively to what Akagi had to share. He didn't answer his brother's question though, knowing that Kimora Llewellyn would have more specific information on that then he could provide.
When Akagi seemed to question the 'lover' bit, she almost looked confused to Sylas Llewellyn. Had she not been informed of a separation? Had she spilled a secret? She figured that Akagi had at least met the small, curly haired woman considering he had been in Lorendale enough to have seen her at least. And Kalini hadn't seen the woman around Arynn Frey... not that she had seen her before she showed up on Sylas' arm. There was a slight look that was apologetic that got sent towards her brother before she was turning to catch her mother, Kimora Llewellyn, and father entering.
She stepped forward, brushing a delicate kiss to her mother's cheek and then her fathers. Giving a quick curtsy afterwards, before she welcomed the hug from @ness, her arms gently wrapping her little sister and gave a soothing pat to her back. "Hello Ness," she returned, though her voice wasn't a sweet purr like Ness' was. Hers was a slightly deeper tone though clearly feminine all on its own. Kalini moved to a seat beside Sylas and sink into it with all the grace of a well trained princess.
Akagi Llewellyn had no problem jumping right into his stories and while she was interested in all the interesting food that was laid out for them, she found herself watching Akagi as he told his stories. She was the only one of the Llewellyn children to have not gone anywhere, which she was starting to regret. What he spoke of, outside of his sickening love for Althea, was absolutely fascinating. Her eyes almost brighter just trying to imagine the things he was exposed to. The question about the Dresmondi made her look towards her mother. It was still so very new and it seemed like a lot of mixed feelings came with that one.

For a few moments, Kimora allowed her children to discuss things among themselves, to chatter. She listened keenly. It was nice for her to momentarily forget about the queenship and to, for a little while, become a mother first and foremost. It had been too long since their family had been together like this.
The word "lover" however was one which the queen couldn't ignore. She turned towards Sylas, somewhat surprised that it was he and not one of his siblings (although thankful that it wasn't Akagi who was being whispered about). "Lover? Yes, I do think that you need to tell us something about this Sylas." Kimora looked towards her son with the prying look of a mother who had discovered something and now wasn't about to let it go. If Sylas looked towards Kite, he would find the man grimacing, expressing some form of sympathy.
He would need to tidy that mouth of his up before he could possibly envision sitting atop the throne (or rather until Kimora could imagine him doing so without her losing sleep over the matter). "Amazing, isn't how I could describe it." The queen interjected somewhat dryly, as if attempting to bring her brood under some form of control. "They have lost their homeland and the magic that makes them unique is gone also. It would be as if overnight we lost Arynn Frey and the ability to enchant items." The queen paused for a few moments, letting the gravity of the situation settle in properly. "In all likelihood, by the time you are my age, the Dresmondi as we know them will be extinct."
It was a warning. The Dresmondi where not here for "fun". "That being said..." Kimora would continue. "I hope that despite everything, we will learn a good deal from them and those who have chosen to remain will come to be at home within our nation."

This revelation hit Akagi hard and the feeling that...no...no..no. That would be terrible his eyes darted between his siblings wondering they felt that same heavy gravity as Akagi did. Wheels were turning within the young mans head but for now he would pocket this dilemma and discuss perhaps with his siblings alone that perhaps they help the Dresmondi themselves.
"Then I will do my best to make them feel welcome and comfortable Mother, we all will," he looked at each of his siblings, a smile turning up when he passed over Sylas, he was really going above and beyond with that comment it seemed. His eyes settled on Kalini, "Any new exciting enchantment work going on?"
Lover? Ness' brows rose and her eyes shot to Sylas Llewellyn. She kept her lips pressed together, but was greatly intrigued by whatever would come out of his mouth concerning this supposed lover.
Of course this wouldn't just be let go. No one in his family currently knew that Kezia was actually Dresmondi. When he had told them he would be traveling with her to Lorendale for research they were told that she was an Arynnite and that they would be posing as lovers in Lorendale for the sake of making things easier for them in their travel. He decided that for now he would re-iterate this point. "As you know, me and my companion were posing as lovers in Lorendale while we did research there. It's been rather successful so far and has allowed us the ease of moving about more naturally while there," he stated simply.
Yes, there was something real developing between them but Sylas could not yet define it and thus there was nothing to define for his family either. He did take the news about the Dresmondi particularly seriously though. "Would it be worth our efforts to try and help them recover the lost magic so that they might be able to return to their own lands?" he asked.
