The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Our dearest and lovely admin welcomed her new baby boy, Jet, on Sept 7th! We're so happy for her and her family! Congratulations Mama!! Your boys are all so lucky to have such an incredible mom to love them! God bless!
Given that Althea had got pregnant accidentally before they had got married (a fact still unknown to her husband), it had come as a surprise to the couple when they didn't get pregnant again right away, especially given the amount of time they spent wrapped up with each other. Althea spent all that time fearing that this was punishment from the Goddess for what she had done with the first and that maybe now she'd never have a child which she knew both she and Akagi wanted desperately. Eventually they started to use fertility treatments to help with the matter.
Finally they conceived and it had been such an exciting time. With regular checks from both nevermeren and arynnite healers they had come to find out that they were expecting twins though they wouldn't know their genders until they were born. It was a challenging pregnancy in many ways for Althea. She was a small woman and carrying twins was a lot for her body. But they had remained healthy and strong.
When she had started to feel contractions in the middle of the night she had woken Akagi right away. The midwives were called. It had now been a full day, twenty-four hours, and she was still in the middle of labor with no babies in her arms. She was exhausted, her brow beading with sweat and she looked up at Akagi with tears in her eyes. "They are never going to come. I can't do this," she whimpered to him.

If someone felt the need to ask the Prince how he felt about becoming a Father soon they would find a very evident answer, even without sleep the last twenty four hours, Akagi was a bouncing ball of every happy feeling, nervousness, ecstatic off the wall, and sleep deprived soon to be a Father bundle of nerves. He hadn't even sat in the last three hours as he had paced the birthing room, asked a slave to bring ice chips, or personally saw to his wives comfort from fluffing pillows to back rubs......
...simply put Akagi did whatever his love asked. no questions.
Akagi grabbed a damp wet cool cloth, "I....don't know how long such a thing like this can last but," he dabbed at her forehead to cool her and wipe away the sweat pooling, "but there is an end love, you are stronger than you know because I know. I can perhaps fetch the midwife again? Maybe another round of pushing," he took one of her hands and with his free thumb he pushed tears out of her eyes, "we love you and if you are in pain...what can I do to ease it?"
There was no better husband to have at her side than Akagi. He had been her rock throughout the whole pregnancy and her labor had been no different. He was always there, giving her energy and comfort and all the love in the world. Her water had broken nearly ten hours ago and they had done some test pushing at that point but the labor was not far enough long. Then labor had stalled, there was little progress and Althea was trembling with exhaustion. But every time she almost fell asleep she'd have another contraction.
Akagi brushed her tears away and she leaned into his hand, her tears falling more heavily. "I'm so tired Akagi, what if I can't push them out?" she whimpered. The midwife, a witch, came back at that moment, looking plenty refreshed herself. "None of that now," she said to Althea, not unkindly. "You are a powerful woman and we'll get those babies out. Now, let's check you again."
Althea sighed and rolled from her side to her back so the midwife could check her progression. Again. She was sure there would be no change. "Oh! Now look at that! You're almost there!" Althea perked up and looked down at the midwife. "Are- are you sure?" she asked, hesitantly. "Absolutely. Just give it another half an hour tops and you'll be ready. Try to take this time to rest up," she said.
Althea leaned back on her pillow and scrunched her face up. She hadn't been able to rest in the last twenty four hours, what difference would this last thirty minutes make? She rolled back over to her side and looked up at her husband. "Akagi? Will you lay with me?" she asked, patting the bed beside her. Their bedroom had been prepped for her delivery right there.

Akagi was truly concealing his giddy feeling, it was almost time! Thanking the mid-wife Akagi was nothing but comfort for Alth from here on out and at her request he climbed beside her quickly, he even gently took some pressure off her belly like he would during the pregnancy.
"I can't believe this is finally happening, I haven't felt like this since our wedding day," he spoke with pride, "luckiest day ever love, I love you Alth."
If it wasn't for Akagi, Althea would have lost of her strength and motivation. But his joy and excitement were contagious and his support was exactly what she needed. She smiled in a tired way and closed her eyes, humming her agreement. "I love you too," she mumbled as rest finally seemed to come for her.
Before she knew it she was woken by a very strong contraction and a need to push. She gasped, her eyes flying open and the midwife came in without any sense of a rush, having done this plenty of times before. The midwife encouraged Akagi off the bed but Althea to remain on her side. "Do you want to help bring the babies out or help your wife?" the midwife asked the Crowned Prince.

Akagi was up and off the bed without hesitation and when asked what he'd like to help with he felt a new giddy feeling, "I'll help with the babies..no..I'll comfort my wife...uh..the babies...," he was slightly overwhelmed as he wanted to help both but his excitement was high, "both...I can do both...can I do both?"
Another contraction and the painful noise from his wife made his decision for him as he went to her side brushing her hair out of her face, "you got this Alth... breath and focus.. I'm right here," he took her hand ready for this more than ever, more than anything.
The midwife was used to flustered fathers. At least the fathers that chose to be part of the birth. There were many who preferred to sit outside and wait while their wife did all the hard work. It wasn't uncommon for that to happen either. Before she could respond that, no, he couldn't really do both, he had moved to focus on the Princess.
"Okay, your Highness, I need you to hold her leg up for her. Keep it supported. She's going to be pushing from this position," she told him. It would make Althea's pushing more effective if she remained on her side. "Alright, Princess, take a deep breath and push."
Althea gripped Akagi's hand tightly and she scrunched up her face and pushed with everything she had. Many pushes later and the first baby was brought into the world. Being twins, and coming a little bit early though still full term for twins, the baby was on the smaller side, a mere five pounds. "It's a boy!" The midwife stated and handed the baby off to another who wrapped him up, the baby crying healthily.
"No time to rest, my dear," she said, "The next one is wasting no time."

A boy! Akagi was beaming with pride as he watched the baby being handed off to another in the room, his hands longing to hold him but another was coming! He had turned his attention back to Althea, a wet cloth was put into his hand so he could cool his wife down, "you are doing amazing Alth! Just one more love," he gently and softly wiped away the sweat across her brow, "remember breath ... Push... Breath... Push..."
She didn't even get a chance to see her first. A boy. An heir. Their duty fulfilled with their first child. The sound of his cry made her ache to hold him, to see him, but his twin was coming. Althea felt so tired and in pain. She didn't want to do it again. She wasn't sure she could do it again. But it wasn't as if she had a choice.
So mustering any strength she had left, and letting her body do what it already knew how to do, it wasn't long before a second cry joined the first. Another boy. Althea fell back into the pillow, breathing heavily and feeling more tired and more in pain than she had in her entire life. Witches and enchanters alike came to her aid with potions and magic to heal her and ease her burden while the twins were introduced to their father, the Crown Prince of Arynn Frey.

Akagi was nicely pushed aside, his eyes hadn't stopped following the ones holding his two sons, "excuse us Prince, let us tend to the princess you can't do much for her, go hold those beautiful boys," the head mid wife kindly said. He stood staring at a witch approaching with not one...but two... babies in her arms. He took them graciously into his arms, they were surprisingly heavy in his arms, and tears of joy slipped down Akagi's face but they were from a place of deep deep happiness that he didn't sob.
"they are beautiful...," he said with a hitch in his voice at the end.
Althea felt...different than she thought she would. Physically she had been plenty prepared for how hard this would be but emotionally... She felt a surge of love for her children but there was also deep pain there. Regret. Did she even deserve them? Did she have any right to be a mother after what she did? She had never been able to tell Akagi, though she'd tried many times. She had aborted a baby, their first born. How could she look these two infants in the eye knowing what she'd done to their sibling? Could she be the mother they needed or would she be cursed to be a threat to all of her children?
She felt the tears begin to fall as she was tended to and squeezed her eyes shut, wishing she could disappear.

"Love we need to give them names," he said as he looked at her, and he was suddenly a bit worried seeing her with her eyes closed, "are you okay love?"
He approached the side of the bed where her head was resting and sat on the edge, "look at what we have made, they are perfect," he angled him to where she could see them.
She heard Akagi question her but didn't respond, feeling the worry washing through her. She then felt the bed sag where he sat down and spoke again to her, holding their newborn twins in his arms. She slowly forced her eyes to open and turned to look at them.
The emotions she felt in that moment were ones she'd never forget, a flow of love for the two little babies that she and her true love had created together after so long of waiting. They were finally here. In that moment all her physical pain seemed to wash away with the burst of serotonin and dopamine that she got. But it didn't wash away her worry. She looked from their little faces to the one of her husband, suddenly feeling so unworthy of him and his love.
"What if I'm a terrible mother?" she whispered, her eyes wide and fearful and her lip trembling.

"No.... No love, no," he inched closer so he could bend to give her a kiss, a reassuring kiss on her trembling lips and we spoke he didn't pull back from her speaking against them, "never ever in this life or the next will you be a terrible Mother! I don't see it nor do I feel that way about you, you've got so much love Alth and I guarantee these babies, our babies, feel that already...."
There was no way she'd ever be in the frame of mind like her own Mother was, she was so much more to him and to them.
His love for her was unending. Tears brimmed her eyes and she sniffed, nodding softly. She swallowed and brushed her hand over his cheek, pressing a kiss to the corner of his lips. She reached for the closest baby and took him gently from Akagi's arms, carefully pulling him in against her chest.
"He's so perfect, Akagi. I can't believe we made him."
