The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

The Prince took the book and he picked it up for a brief moment before offering it to Calanthe, "Hold on to it for now? Working together we can share it."
With the confirmed yes the Prince slung his bag over his shoulder and they set off, exiting the library they would be joined by Prince Akagi's guards. As they strolled from the library the Prince began pilfering through his bag again, "Here you will need this," he offered her a simple gold band ring with a single emerald green ruby cut with intricate designs in the middle to her, she'd probably notice a matching one on his own finger (between the other countless rings that adorned his fingers today), "It will help you bypass the security within my workshop or else you'll be froze on the spot and that's just bad manners," he chuckled as he remembered the first time he got Sylas with his invention, "But it isn't far from the library! Also, it might be a little messy," he pulled out a white stone that had been cut and chiseled into a cylindrical piece before being smoothed. The entrance into the building had no handle but Akagi waved the stone over a steel plate, the door popped open slightly and he pushed the door open ushering Calanthe to follow him inside.
Akagi entered in letting her take in everything. It wasn't a mess at all everything was neatly put away, organized, not a speck of dust or debris to be seen. A bed sat tucked in the corner completely made up to perfection, a nightstand beside the bed was the home to his grimores, and other small everyday used enchantments. He had a small training circle with a dummy. Weapons of all types decorated his walls and all of them were enchanted, several of them of his own creation while others were gifted to him. The mess Akagi spoke about was what was covered by a brown tarp of hide and furs.
He wouldn’t have to tell Calanthe twice, accepting the book up eagerly. It wasn’t everyday you go to share a book with someone so knowledgeable about Shrine enchantments. And especially not one that drank too much wine and belched in your face. ”Thank you.” She wasn’t sick of saying those words yet this afternoon as she followed the prince out of the library. Very hard not to skip with excitement she measured her steps with his.
”Clever, maybe I should put one of those enchantments on my room.” Putting the ring on she took a second to admire the design as they walked. Function and beauty. Clearly Akagi had worked hard on all of this, something she could only dream to accomplish some day. And she would, because she was a Blackwood.
Taking a few steps in so that he could close the door, she looked around the room. There was almost too much to take in, but her eyes slowly picked through the details. A clear penchant for weapons, a smile crossing her face when she thought about how much her aunt Calli would love all this. And she did too, but in a different. Fascinated by how it all worked and how he had arrived at all his conclusions. ”Impressive to say the least.” Pulling her eyes from the pile of furs covering something she looked to Akagi with a smile. ”So what were you going to show me?”

Akagi was absolutely buzzing with excitement as he practically skipped across the room to wall where crossbows hung locked behind a cage of sorts. The same stone he used to enter the workshop he waved it over a certain spot and the cage vanished entirely. Picking one that was stained a black over a white pine wood that gave it a smokey color. He also grabbed a few bolts, "As much as I want to claim this little beauty as my own, it was gifted to me some odd ten years ago from the former head of our Artillery," he loaded a bolt handing it to her, "Step into the training grounds and fire at the dummy."
Watching as Akagi walked over, it was interesting just how much work he had put into making this place truly all for himself. The objects inside even warded against others without the stone he used. Calanthe knew she had a lot to learn but it was amazing to see what was possible.
So she took the loaded crossbow, excitement all over her face. Biting her lip she listened carefully to the instructions before stepping into the circle. After a deep breath she focused her eyes towards the dummy, holding the bow she sent the arrow. And he was certainly right. The bolt lighting with blue fire, hitting the target with a flickering flame. "Wow."
Turning around she looked at Akagi nodding her head. "That's amazing." This whole room must have been filled with such things. But her eyes flicked between the prince and the flickering bow rather than the rest of the room. This wasn't his work but it was start towards her project, at least she hoped it was. "So it's the bolt then yes?"

"Ah, yes, you see the bolts are enchanted," he was overly joyed to talk about the cross bow, "Once they strike their target they burrow deeper when an attempt is made to remove them," he points to a small blue ruby in which the bolt passes through when fired, "But the triggering of the blue flames happens when the bolt crosses that ruby's threshold, the bow is just absolutely perfect, beautiful," he said beaming as he offered her the rest of the bolts, "Take it until you've made your enchanted item, use it for inspiration if you'd like."
Calanthe listened carefully, enthralled by his knowledge and the beautiful weapon. ”So a few enchantments at work here then.” The design was intricate, and certainly something to learn from if she ever planned to finish her idea. Something her father would be proud of, something to make her remember the enchantress that she was rather than the father who was missing.
His offer to let her hold onto it was far too generous, but Calanthe had never been one to smack the hand that fed her. ”Really? Thank you Akagi!” Taking a few steps towards him she started to move for a hug of thanks when she realized how rude that was. Informal and childish, two things she wasn’t anymore. ”I mean, thank you Prince Akagi.” Bowing her head she stroked the crossbow, and despite the redness in her cheeks looked up with a smile.

He had saw her near advancement at a innocent energetic hug, he heard her call him just Akagi and he noticed how she flushed red after correcting herself, "Ah, to be in my early twenties again," he thought. The Prince did reach for one of her outstretched hands taking it with both hands and he smiled, "You are absolutely welcome miss Calanthe, I admire your energy for the science of enchanting."
He let loose of her hand and his returned clasped behind his back, "on your next spare day, send a message a head of time and we shall meet to start on this prototype. You have a bright future, I can't wait to see you achieve it."
Calanthe nodded her head, still slightly embarrassed how wrapped up she had gotten with the enchanting. And while she was still learning it made since. That however didn't make her feel any less silly, luckily it seemed as though he at least understood as he reached out a reassuring hand. "It's overwhelming at times I suppose."
Smiling, the young enchantress was excited to have yet another master in his own class offering to help her. It seemed like she almost had too many at times, but there were enough hours in the day if you knew how to cheat the system. "I will, and thank you again Prince Akagi, for all of this." She was leaving with a book, weapon, and a promise of help, far more than she had walked into the library with.
