The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Alys never missed a beat when it came to training. If she wasn't in her office and doing witchcraft while at the castle, she was down in the training grounds with the military. She never shied away from picking up a sword and getting in the ring with the others. She encouraged it, encouraged hand to hand or weapons... it didn't matter. She actually started her morning there that day. Knowing that any day now since she returned from Coheed, that she would need to be ready to head into Dresmond.
Not that anyone knew that. And even with her missing, they'd probably assume she had been sent to Lorendale or back to Coheed... it wasn't like everyone walked around asking for her anyway. The King was the only one that had her at his beck and call. Though she made sure that she made it home to her husband and children during the times that she could before Dresmond. Soaking up every moment she could with them. Especially since Logan already seemed like he was on edge with the thought of her being gone for so long.
She didn't blame him. But for now, she pinned her recent opponent, letting her neutral mask crack as she won. Grinning down at the female before she'd stand up and offer a hand up. While she was brutal in the training field, she was fair when she needed to be. So she walked to the edge of the ring, taking a damp towel and wiping her face as she debated calling it a day or going back in for another round. Her breaths coming out in heavier pants as she wiped the sweat off of her forehead and neck.

It been a couple of weeks since she got married and she loved being Keir wife however she need to forcus on working, she has missed trining with the swords and doing hand-to-hand combat. so she went to the traing wing and hearing the sound of people training she smiles. As she approached she noticed Aly. "I am always impressed with the Delaney swordsmanship. may i take you up for a little bit of combat?" she asked.
It was funny how some approached Alys with ease while others didn’t. At one point, Alys had been just another soldier and hadn’t thought much on it. But now she noticed.
It was when she heard someone’s voice clear, and then her last name that she looked up. She remembered the woman’s face, and though she had not been in Nevermere for their wedding, she knew the woman was now married to Keir. “I’d like to say it was Roggar that had its name on my skill first.” She stood back to her full height and gave the other dark haired woman a small smile.

Val give a small smile at her small mistake on her part. She know who Alys is she always had a present about her that is hard to miss, that why it was noticable to her at least that she wasn't at her and Keir's wedding. However, with everything that going on, it is understandable, it a situation that you can't afford. Plus it going to be hard to try and arrange the wedding well all family was going to be there, espically when the majority of them are soldiers. "Roggers, would be proud of the skills I am sure."
When Alys congratulate her a wider smile formed on her face as she thought about Keir. "Thank you, it was here in the military wing where we mat. We hit it off right away i knew from that moment he was my land boy."
The Roggar's were proud. Very proud of her indeed, now that they were reunited. It had been a strange and strained relationship, but since her wedding to Logan, things had been better and better. She always told Logan it was because of him that her life had started to come together. He was her flame in the darkness.
Though a soft chuckle left her. "Land boy..." her head tilted slightly and that was when she remembered... "You are the Captain Commander's daughter." She said it as the pieces all seemed to click into place. Her love for the sea, one that Alys had had at one point, made sense if that was her father.

it would be an understatement if Val says that since meeting Keir that her life has become ten times brighter. He gives her a reason to fight for a reason to come home from the sea. To rush home and laugh and grow with him. these early stages of marriage they still learning to be as one. It been interesting knowing how each other work now they are a unit.
Val laughed and nodded "Keir called me deck runner so I thought I give him a nickname to fit and it sticks." she smiled and nodded. "yeah I am his daughter, the most important man in any woman's life." Hadrian had always been important to her, she looked up to him. he encouraged her to follow her dreams and her heart and that if she wanted something fight for it. "he been an amazing captain commander."
Alys was nodding as she agreed to a father being important in their children's lives. Yet it stopped when she continued to mention how he had been an amazing captain commander. She didn't make a face or give off any indication of her internal thoughts. While she agreed on one hand, that Hadrian was a good Captain Commander... she also knew the tension and the lack of willing to bring her in that had happened.
She knew it was because Logan had stepped down and it was viewed as her fault. Many didn't believe the fact that he did it on his own. Even though he had surprised her during that meeting with Cassian and she had protested him leaving. It had been a hard task, watching him toss his career away so he could be with her. To be with their children even. She felt like at times, he might have regretted it. But he never told her he did, he only seemed elated when they were all together. "He has done well by the King and his title, yes." She just wished he included her more often, especially since she spent as much time with the military as she did.
In hopes of changing the subject, she changed the subject back to Valeria. "What do you specialize in? Craft wise."

The way Alys was holding herself seemed like the topic of her dad wasn't her favorite plus her being married to Logan who was the commander before her dad was given the role. However, to be fair he wanted to be on the sea for longer. Valeria knew that he wanted to go out to sea with her one day. She wants that still father and daughter out at sea as they dreamed about growing up. However thing changes, and life throw unexpected things that you cannot explain.
When Alys asked what she specializes in craft wise. Her eyes widen, this was about magic, one thing she was slightly scared to say she not good at. She wasn't strong with her magic, she didn't focus that much on magic, so she doesn't have a craft. "I don't really have one." Was all that Val says because at the end of the day she doesn't.
Surprise etched onto Alys' face. It was not a common thing to hear a witch say that they didn't have a specialty when it came to witchcraft. While it might have been something smothered in the past, it was something pushed for heavily now. The women were the power in Nevermere, and they capitalized on it now more than ever. And with her being the King's Witch... she leaned more into the magic now then ever.
"You should work on that." She said it in a friendly, higher up sort of way. As a professional suggestion, one might think. "It's what gives us the edge against the men. And the other kingdoms. Even out at sea, incantations could be a wonderful use to you." She suggested even a focus.

Val know that with her role and with everything that been going on she need to back sure that she is prepared for what might to come. She Knows that it will take time to learn the spells needed to get stronger. "You be surprised how rare for me to use spells out at sea." She laughed softly. She rubbed at the back at her neck as she sat down.
"I had like a training session with Lady Kat Winters where she has thrown me into the deep end with summoning but I know i am a far way off. Like i wouldn't know where to start to casting incantion to be truthful with you. like the summon was slow to be summoned even and because i didn't know any chant i just used a random chant." She explained.
"All depends on what you are doing with it." She rebutted, tilting her head slightly and letting a few loose curls bounce over her shoulder. "I used to regularly be on the seas, when I was a kid, my family owned a ship and we'd go out for days to bring back fish to sell. Sometimes the trips didn't bring back anything, sometimes they were successful," she offered. "But we always used magic. A quick incantation to the sails to jet us forward. A blast to something in the water that might obstruct us. Just... don't forget whats inside of you. We did that for far too long in the past."
Well, it seemed like Valeria was in the need of someone to point her in the right direction. "You luckily have a head start on me when I was your age." She flashed an easy smile. "You know how to read." Alys hadn't even learned how to do such a thing until five or six years ago. And still, her handwriting wasn't as pretty and script like other noblewomen. "There are some books that you should read up on. I am sure that the local stores would carry. But if not, I know I have them in my study at my home. You could borrow some if you like. Just... don't mind my little notes and marks in the books."

don't forget what is inside her? she looked down she know it can be powerful, dangerous like she doesn't know her full strength yet when she cast spells like she did not let it be forgotten.
She give Aly a smile. "I am thinking of going to the bookstore later today to see if there any books i might be able to pick up, Like I think i still have a few back from when i did training back at the usher estate. Like I probably more rusty than anything, Once I do a few spells they will all come flying back to me." She laughs softly.
Alys found it strange when witches tended to fall back into following the men when they were capable of so much more. In the sense of falling into getting used to doing what the men did, using weapons of steel instead of those they could cast by mouth. It was habit, she supposed. Especially to those who were not within the military outside their mandated training. They had been smothered once, not allowed to burn as brightly as they could... but not anymore.
"Well, I hope you find the ones you are hoping for then." She gave a small nod of her head to confirm that. She would've offered again but figured that Valeria had just been polite in her 'no thank you' to Alys' offer. In her mind, she could have been a bit insulted, or questioned why the offer from the King's Witch would be brushed aside... but this was Hadrian's daughter after all. So she didn't press nor did she think twice about it.
"You have a good support system, so I am sure if not in the Usher library, than the Delaney one."

Valeria felt a bit silly and she laugh softly. "I mean, of course, I would love to have your help. Any help I can get right." She laughed softly. Valeria might think she is as independent, well she had to be growing up as her dad was away while she was growing up so she oftern find it hard to recognize when help was being offered unless it was clear.
”I’m not always available. But I’m sure you can catch me from time to time.” She checked the weapons on her, testing the blades for their dullness or lack there of against the pad of her thumb. She said the available thing because of upcoming plans no one else knew about would make her scarce. But she’d be around.
