The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

It was late in the afternoon and Clovis needed some peace and quiet after a day of training with his men. It had been a good training, especially since he had taken a hit when one of the soldiers had charged at him with a lance. The lance had hit him on the collarbone but due to his own skills, it hadn't been hard enough to break it. His shoulder just felt sore now, which was a good thing, in his opinion. It was positive when his men were able to hit him. The lances they used in training weren't the ones they'd use in battle either so prevent someone from seriously getting hurt.
But now, the man wanted to return to his roots and dive nose first into a book. To stay true to himself, it would be a book about the military, training techniques or using horses in battle. He felt like you could never know enough about a subject. Learning didn't have an ending. There was always more to discover.
The muscular man had made his way through the palace and was headed towards the beautiful library. After a long day, he often enjoyed the library more than his own home. Once he had entered the library, he could see there were a few people present but he didn't pay much attention to what they were doing. He started to stroll through the lanes of bookcases, letting his eyes wander over the backs of the books, reading the titles.
Calliope swept into the library with little fanfare, other than the fact that seeing this particular Blackwood in the city library was not a common occurrence. That wasn't to say that she never visited one, just it was uncommon enough that it made a few folks curious. Especially given her preference for the training yards or even the smithy to talk ideas for armor. That she was in more casual wear instead of her uniform did curb some of the curiosity, though.
However, she didn't pay any mind to any looks or whispers as she walked through the shelves, looking for someone in particular. @calanthe had missed the odd training day here and there, enough that Calliope's trainer had come to Calliope to inquire about her niece's whereabouts. The trainer that Calliope had personally chosen who had come to her asking if she knew where her niece was vanishing to. So Calliope had taken to shadowing some of her training times, and today she'd not shown up.
So she was checking the library in the city, in case she'd gotten caught up in assignment from one of her other tutors, but so far there was no sign of her niece.
Some people whispering nearby distracted him from reading the titles of the books. They made him look up and frown, wondering why suddenly the library had become a little chaotic. He heard the name "Blackwood" a few times and some curious whispers about why 'she was here'. The man came out from between the book cases and walked towards a more open area with tables, where people could read. He then saw Calliope walking around the library. It brought a small smile to the face of the normally very stoic man. It was indeed a rare sight to see the head of the infantry in the city library. Clovis made his way over to the aunt of the girl he had been assigned to train. He had asked her if she knew why Calanthe missed some of the trainings recently and seeing the woman now have him the opportunity to check if she had been able to find out anything about it. "Lady Blackwood", he said to get her attention. "Looking for your niece?" It was a polite way and excuse to ask what the woman was doing in the library.
Her head turned slightly before the rest of her body, fully facing him by the time he had addressed her by her name. He was always polite so she certainly didn't mind his presence, for all that she was ever so slightly biased to her brother for the cavalry head position for the simple fact that he was her brother. She didn't let that color her interactions or attitude towards the other man, being far too professional for that and she actually considered him to be a relatively decent person.
"Lord Belcourt." Her gaze flickered down the row of shelves, a hint of annoyance and disappointment in her eyes, before her attention came back to him. "I am and she is not in most of her usual haunts. It's a bit... frustrating."
Calliope was quick to respond to her name, having turned towards him fully by the time he had greeted her. The agitation was noticeable on her face, so without having to verbally reply to his question, she already had with her body language. He nodded a few times before speaking. "Frustrating to say the least. I wonder what she considers to be more important than showing up for her trainings." He looked around the row of shelves himself before returning his gaze to the woman. "Shall we sit?" he asked, gesturing over to some chairs near a wall, more fit to talk without interrupting people that were trying to read their book. "Perhaps we could talk about your niece for a bit."
