Regan’s confidence had grown. Where at first her task of training Othello Allemeade had been a painful necessity, now it was a personal challenge she was determined to conquer. Sketches in hand, Regan marched her way to the royal smithy.

When she arrived, the blacksmith and his assistants looked up from their work, surprised to see a new face. They recognized Regan by title, however, and set down their tools to see what she’d brought them. With her crude drawings and enthusiastic hand gestures, Regan commissioned the following to be completed with haste:

• A quiver of a dozen metal javelins, about five feet long
• Two bandoliers with fifty sharply tipped bolts on each (five inches long, half inch diameter)
• A fully metal battle axe
• Full metal armor and chainmail with fire-retardant leather lining

For Regan:
