The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

for @bex
It was the next morning and she made sure that she took good care of her body and made sure that she went bed earlier then normal so she can be all ready for the training ahead of her. As she know it was going to be tough. So she made sure that both her mind and body was ready for what ever Bex was going to throw at her.
Zarha made her way to the training ground she looked around and noticed that nobody else was around so she started to warm up. She been in the military for not quiet a year now but several months doing the odd assignment that was thrown her way most of them was thrown at her by Warren and not her own but all is well. However, with training and warm up wise she have saw some warm up that some of the older more experience, stronger soldiers do. Since seeing them she have started to do them herself. Picture yourself as a strong soldier, as a strong witch and you will grow.
Once she saw Bex walk in Zarha stood up straight and to attention, watching her waiting for instructions.
Bex was usually up this early anyway doing her own training before her work began, so it wasn't any different from a normal day. She was looking alert and ready for the day by the time she showed up at the training yard and was glad to see that Sliva was already there and warming up. Good, because she wouldn't have wasted the time to do so if the woman had not been prepared enough to do it on her own.
"What have you practiced so far in using magic in your combat?" she asked once she was standing in front her without any other form of greeting whatsoever.

Straight to the point, no need for formalities, that is in Zarha's eyes amazing. She wasn't one for formalities, she know some people are and they rather people beat round the bush a bit. However, what the point? She guess some nobles and commoners just want things done smoothly like she guess Warren been trying to teach her to be patient and not rush straight into things. However, she was eager to do work, dedicated to work and that is about it.
"I've been trying to enhance the summon I've been trying to use other incantation aside from fire. Fire is by far my strongest one so I've been trying to train in other incantation to enhance them." Her hands staying behind her back. She hasn't been training in curses yet. Maybe one day she will train more in curses.
Summons and incantations, specifically fire. Only half of what she had at her disposal and barely half at that. She hummed with a tone that wasn't exactly pleased. But she supposed that was why the girl was here. "What is your preferred weapons of choice?" she asked.
Her goal at the end of it was get better at her magic, she need to work on her magic, so when Bex asked her what her preferred weapon of choice, she was uncertain why that has to do anything to do with magic and learning it. However there must be a reason behind her questioning. Otherwise she wouldn't be asking. She a smart woman, firm but she has her ways. "My preferred weapon is a Ax, Ma'am."
An ax, alright. It wasn't Bex's favorite but each person had their preferences. "One of the common things I see from witch soldiers is that they have two methods of combat. They use either their magic or their weapon. What many fail to realize is that you can use both at the same time. What are some ways you could use your magic to enhance your ax combat?" she asked, letting the woman use her brain to think for herself rather than just doing whatever Bex told her to do. After all, Bex wouldn't always be there to tell her what the best option might be.

Zarha stood to attention as she stood and think for a moment of ways magic could help her with Ax Combat. Truth be told she was possible was also one of the witches could do both. However, she tried to think of a answer. She doesn't want to be seen as somebody who can't think of her own answer, espically if she was to be able to progress in her career she need to be able to think for herself. "i can.... cast a incantation to pin a person against a wall them aim the ax to their heart." trying to sound confident in her answer.
It was a start, a decent answer. Bex knew that many witches rarely thought of their magic in this way. "You certainly could," she replied, tone rather expressionless which was not abnormal for the Lieutenant. "That's a start. You are still using your magic and your weapon separately though. What is something you could do that would affect your weapon directly?" she said, encouraging more thought in a specific way.

Standing there with a confused look on her face, how? She only know using her weapon separately. She knows she can turn men into their wolf form, however, he wasn't a paired witch. Jer eyes was scanning like she was scanning the inside of her brain for a answer. However she was stuck, Zarha hated being stuck, but this is why she here right? "I am unsure Lieutenant."
Yes, the paired soldiers could turn men into wolves, that was true. And while all witches had the ability to learn, the magic itself was closely guarded and only those who were paired were actually able to use that kind of magic. Bex did not look bothered in the least by Sliva's answer.
"Which is why you came to me," she commented. Well no, it wasn't why. Sliva had stated she had come to Bex because of her reputation on how focused and intense her trainings were. Whether she knew or not that Bex focused on magic within those trainings Bex had no idea.
"There are many ways you can use magic and your weapon as one and, as you likely know, witch magic is an incredible asset that has no limits beyond your imagination. Spell books are a wonderful start, I can recommend a few if you'd like. Your magic and your weapon should be used one complete set of skills. You can use your magic to light your ax on fire as you wield it or throw it. You can use a potion to coat it in poison. You can speak a freezing incantation once it's imbedded into your enemy to freeze them from the inside out."
There was a scary look of darkness in Bex's gaze as if she reveled in the death and destruction of others. It was a look that many had seen in her from time to time and which made people rather uncomfortable. There was a threat in the air as if she could turn that look in your direction on a whim.

Seeing the darkness with Bex's eyes made Zarha heart skip a beat, It was uncomfortable, but for some odd reason it made her more intrigued, made her want to listen to the Lieutenant even more. The darkness that was pulling Zarha even closer unknowingly. Her eyes focused on Bexter, intent on finding this magic that she speaks of in her. She know she has it.
"I would really appreciate the spell book recommendations." There a spark of passion of finally learning how to hernias her true powers. The need to be the best she know she can be. She couldn't help but smile but not in a warm smile sort of way, but in a dark fire that was burning inside of her.
"I'll write them down for you," she stated about the books, making a mental note to do so before she dismissed the woman after their training.
"For now, I want you to try to implement this idea. You said you were good with fire, so why don't you try to use that with your weapon?" She motioned towards the targets several yards away and took a step back to watch.

Zarha was happy that she have been learning how to read, otherwise she would of struggled with the books that Bex was going to write down for her to read. "Thank you very much." She was indeed looking forward to being able to pick them up and dive into reading into them and practicing the spells to improve her skills.
As Bex explained that she would like her to implement what been said on her weapon. She look in the direction of the target, "yes ma'am." A hint of eagerness to try this out, a smirk on her face as she grabbed her Ax, throwing it in the air and grabbing the handle as she walked into position.
Zarha takes a deep breath knowing that if she miss the target it could go wrong for her, but she have to have faith in her skills in throwing her axe. A weapon that she have practice with for years now. Casting a enchantment of the Axe head, the darkness in her brown eyes glow at the same time as her fingers glow orange igniting the axe as she focus on the target. The energy cruising through her veins as she use her strength throwing it. The flame ax went souring towards the target smack in the middle. Causing it to creak a bit.
Well, it was certainly clear that the woman had skill with the ax as she hit the center of the target. Bex was impressed though it was impossible to tell from the completely neutral expression on her face. "Again," she instructed, not even praising the young woman. She made Zarha do it another nine times before she decided to move on.
"Now try something new, a different magical method than before," she instructed, wondering what the soldier would come up with on her own.

Zarha kept going hitting the bulleye 8 of the 9 time there was one time she put a little bit too much fire and it was to hot and she had to throw it faster then planned. It still hit the target but more to the side of the target. She was still learning though. However, when Bex ask her to try something new, something different.
She thought for a moment of all the spells she have seen or heard other witches do, she knows Bex suggested Ice earlier, however, she doesn't want to seem like she was unable to think of her own ideas. She finally thought of one hopefully it will works. She takes a soft breath and started doing the spell, casting the lighting into the ax, and thrown it into the bulleyes.
The creaks of the target formed as the electricity from the lightning was sipping though, however something going on maybe it was too powerful as Zarha noticed that something was going on. Her instinct kicked in as she attempt to push Bex out of the way as a bolt of lightning came towards the spot Bex was standing. Hoping that it will hit the gound then her,
