Reputation: Sylas learned early on that most of the interactions in his life, outside of his family, were completely fake. People only wanted to know him because of he was a Prince. Even a prince with no real power was someone you wanted to have on your side, a friend in your pocket. Upon this realization Sylas began to grow bitter. He automatically just assumes that people want something from him which makes it harder to truly grow close to him.

While he was a sweet child, he grew out of it by his teen years. He is direct in telling people what he thinks and doesn't care to tiptoe around hurt feelings. He also has an aversion to being touched, not even from his family. He doesn't enjoy hugs or even handshakes and often has his hands clasped behind his back or in his pockets to avoid being touched. While he finds attractive features in both women and men, his aversion has made relationships complicated for him.

He is extremely focused on his magic and research and therefore is often considered to be a rather emotionless recluse who would do nearly anything to avoid a social gathering. He had no reservations in taking as many souls as he needs to for his work.

Combat Experience: Wanting to emulate his beloved uncle, Lan, Sylas began doing combat training when he was a child and by the time he was a teenager he was quite skilled with a variety of weapons as well as enchanted items. He usually prefers a longsword, but has never, actually needed to use in real combat. He joined the Peacekeepers when he was 30 and at 40 began to serve as the second in command in the infantry.

Tale:
Sylas, a prince, was in want for very little growing up. Nearly everything was at his disposal. Except for any true power for his family which had been taken from them by the council. Still, his mother the Queen, made sure that he had as good of an education as possible and much was still expected of him. He was not the heir, that role belonged to his sister Una and while the royal family did not have the power that they wished, he was at least glad to not have the pressure of ruling resting on his shoulders.

He studied hard and reached enlightenment at 17 years old where he focused on saga enchantments. He always looked up to his uncle, his mother's brother, and the man was a close mentor for the young Sylas. He followed his uncle's path and joined the Peacekeepers when he was 30. It was there that he began to really grow close to a man named Sebastian and the two soon became very close friends, though they had already known each other for years. Due to his royal title he was given an honorary title, never having to serve at the very bottom and soon found himself as the second-in-command under Sebastian and there had been a hint of perhaps something more possible just before Sebastian died which served to put an even stronger defense in Sylas' already protected heart.

Around the time he turned 50 he decided to leave the peacekeepers to focus more on his enchantments and academic career. His mother successfully took the monarchy back from the council, though they still existed beneath their queen. After the death of his sister, Una, his brother Agaki became the heir and, again, Sylas was glad that it wasn't him. He had spent the last few years working on his own enchantments and research into the origins of magic and only person has managed to make any headway against the formidable, locked up gate of his emotions, an unassuming little dresmondi named Kezia.
