The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Kat didn't like when her revelations came from others, but it was making her stronger, and so it was acceptable for now. So now she knew how to get to Rosa. Finally. Because even after all this time, there was no point in assuming that she's dead. The girl was from an incredibly annoying family but not all of them were the worst.
And so she yet again found herself on the ship of Keelan Morrigan. Waiting on the deck as she had last time, Kat was drinking from her flask, taking a breath of the cold heims air. This was a long time coming, and she was going to make sure things happened fast.

Keelan was returning from a drink with a noble family of Nevermere, small and once the owners of a small fishing company, not now he had just purchased their boats and their small shop. He was alone when he walked up the plank where he spotted a very familiar face, one he hadn't seen in some time, "Lady Winters, what a surprise," he would have said pleasant but with this little wild card he was never sure, still it was a honest surprise, "follow me to the cabin? Share a flask?"
Kat trusted Keelan as far as she could throw him. Not with magic, that would be much farther, incantation blasts and all, but she wasn't going to be able to pick him up and toss him anywhere. So when he arrived she sighed, took a long sip, and nodded her head. "I suppose so."
She had come to plan, the ships captain one of the few people she knew hadn't given up on Rosa. And so she would follow him, waiting to start until they were in his cabin. "Rosa, I have a plan."

Keelan was surprised again and a little bitter, not with Kat, "Can you believe your sisters accident and Rosa's disappearance was just chalked up as a loss?" the Morrigan picked up his pace because if Kat had a plan he wanted to hear it. Keelan hadn't given up but with the only other person who was interested in finding the truth (minus Gunne but Keelan wasn't about to involve his sister in something potentially dangerous; he knew her heart was with him despite their differences) he didn't have the means his reach in the streets was just that, localized.
Once inside his cabin Keelan abandoned the flask for his own bottle AND two glasses, as he poured them a drink he hadn't realized from their prior meeting that she had green eyes....like his Rose....hair and build. He slid her the glass, "what's the plan green eyes?" he needed the distraction.
"I can, we are expendable, no matter our status apparently." Kat was used to it, although she could understand why a lord would be confused on the matter. Used to his family and opinion mattering. But in the grand scheme on thing, it was small potatoes compared to running as many kingdoms as possible.
Rolling her eyes, Kat slipper her flask into her pocket and took the glass from Keelan. "Okay blue eyes." Taking a sip she collected her thoughts before forging forward. "So I have this thing. I can get to her, but I have to be able to see where she is. So you got any Morrigans good with curses up your sleeve?"

"hm," was his temporary answer to her question and he let her stew with that for a moment as he thought. He thought instantly of Gunne but then again they weren't on the best of terms given his new dealings with the Crown and her anti-Rainecourt stance, still when it came to Rosa they would have to put those silly things aside.
"So you can do a thing, very descriptive Katerina," ironic for a man who usually spoke in grunts and cold dead stares he supposed, "We have options though, my sister Edith Byron or @zuri a cousin, neither would mind if this was for finding Rosa."
Kat didn’t care much to be kept waiting, but she had a glass of whiskey so she was content enough. Alcohol fixed a lot of problems, and boredom was one of them. And luckily it didn’t take him long to come up with a snarky comment back.
She had kept it vague on purpose though, no sense in giving away her party tricks. They were working together but she had next to no trust in a man who would probably sell out a friend in a pinch. No, Keelan was to be kept at arms length, if not more. ”While I much prefer Zuri, we aren’t doing potions, so I’ll have to deal with Gunne.” Although she didn’t entirely trust the woman, but that was nothing new when working with Morrigans.
”But the rest will be on a need to know basis.” And Keelan didn’t need to know

"Then I guess if it's my sister we are involving and this is a need to know basis," he smugly drank from his whiskey before continuing, "I'll be there every step on the way," and he ended that with a wink. Katerina didn't know him and she and her twin and the whole Van Zant clan could believe and feel how they did about Keelan Morrigan but he wasn't a sell out nor a snitch. He believed in a tight ship and rules his workers with a iron grip, they respected him and that was all the validation he reckoned he needed.
"Should I send for her to come here or do we go to her? I'd rather keep Rommie out of this and the kids, when do you want to do whatever it is you are planning?"
Scrunching her nose and rolling her eyes, Kat was sure that Keelan would be there. She was also not sure he trusted her entirely, which was fine. She didn't trust either of the Morrigans though, so she was the one putting herself out there. All because a king couldn't get a few witches to track Rosamere down. Corny.
"I have no doubt you will be."
Kat nodded her head, already a plan in mind. "Tonight, we meet here. I need to grab some supplies, and then you can fill her in. To be clear, you sister is the last person I want to work with, and she probably won't want to work with me. But Rosa deserves the best and we are going to give that to her." We, she was a we with Keelan. Ugh.

Keelan downed his glass and verbally confirmed, "Believe me she's the last person I want involved," he stood stashing away his booze, "but for Rosa, we all want the same thing," he walked to a cabinet and from inside he pulled out a ring of keys and then removed one tossing it to Kat, "just in case I'm not here green eyes just come in, I'll let the quartermaster know you may be here before I am. Besides Gun, what else do we need?"
Kat raised an eyebrow, "last person you want involved?" It was an interesting statement. Was Keelan Morrigan actually a good guy looking out for his family? Or was there something else going on in between one of the important Nevermere families. Maybe all she'd get in return was a grunt or whatever, but it was worth asking.
"Look here." Pulling out a knife she squinted at Keelan. "You can call me Kat or Van Zant, but no nicknames, we are not friends, we have a common goal." She didn't care for it, and wouldn't let it stand. She wasn't some lass with green eyes. She was Kat.

The knife didn't scare him, hell he had been stabbed and nicked more times than he had fingers or toes, the Witch here though had the factor to gain his respect...not fear...Keelan feared no man or woman. He was smirking however as he waved a hand to dismiss her simple outburst, "Understood Katerina," he wouldn't call her Kat or the little unknown last name she and her family seemed so proud of, "But yeah, is that hard to believe I don't want to involve my sister in such unknown bullshit we might stumble on? I already lost my folks, I don't give a shit about much outside of money and power Katerina but I do care deeply about my sister regardless of feelings towards," and he left that sentence where it need be, empty, "Well that's for a need to know basis. Now, we got things to do care to put your little dagger away or ?"
Kat didn't think her knife would scare the merchant. But it showed she was serious. He didn't get to call her a nickname, and while he was going to insist on contradicting her, at least it was her name. Katerina was far too lofty for her taste, far better than green eyes though.
So she just rolled her eyes and moved on. "She won't be involved involved, and you can tell her what ever you like about it to keep her out of things. I don't care, but then you'll have guard dog duty for twenty four hours. Not one of your henchmen, you, because you are the only one whose going to make sure I'm safe with the information I get on Rosa. Got it?" That was all the information he would get for now.
"Later." Taking her leave, Kat had quite a lot to do. But it would all be worth it in the end. She wanted to get to the bottom of this once and for all. Even if it meant finding out that Rosamere was just dead.
