The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
A couple of days ago she asked Officer Abbott if he could train her, knowing that he will push her to possible breaking point. Maybe it something she needs. She be broken. With the possibility of war on it's way, she can't be week. She needs to be pushed more then ever before. People can feel the tension in the air. She wants to come home to her brothers and sisters, she has to come home to them.
She arrived just before the time Officer Abbot asked her to be there, punctuality is key at the end of the day. She started her warm ups stretches, he might want to do more but best to get a head start. She doesn't want to be under prepared. When he walked he, she stood up straight and stood to attention. Eyes forward. Waiting his orders.

Sliva had asked him for an additional training, to which he had reluctantly agreed. The woman had great potential and would surely become a wonderful soldier, bur Aldrich just didn't like her. Never giving up and always pushing yourself to do better were both good characteristics in a soldier, but not if you weren't aware of your limits. Sliva never seemed to say no to anything, which only made Aldrich want to find her breaking point. He wanted to see her fail at something. Not from a sadistic point of view - although I would be lying if I said that didn't have something to do with it - but because it would be useful for her personal development. Knowing your weaknesses, knowing what you weren't capable of doing. It would only make her stronger.
When he entered the training courtyard, the young woman was already present, ready for her training. He could tell that she was eager to commence.
"Sliva", he said, as a greeting. "What is it that you wanted?" It wasn't the kindest way to ask her why she wanted to train, or what she expected from him. Did she want to practice her sword fighting skills? Hand to hand combat? Running? Or could he just do whatever and try to break her?

"To be push to my limits sir" It was a simple answer to a simple question. She wanted to be to be pushed, she wanted to be trained, there was nothing more to it. Zarha was a simple person when it come to wants, mainly because she doesn't really have many apart from just to get by on the day to day. Aside from that she just trains all day everyday when she not patrolling or at home looking after her siblings or learning to read and write.

Her response made him groan slightly, and he could only just keep himself from rolling his eyes. Oh he would push her limits, alright. "What are you the worst at?" he asked, sounding very uninterested although it was a genuine question. He'd be pushing the limits of something she didn't excel at today.

Zarha stood there for a moment thinking at what she worst at. Zarha knows that she struggles with, that why she trains so much so she doesn't struggle. One of which is admitting that she struggle in a area. "Speed sir. but more holding back, all I want to do is run even if that means running away from everyone else. Sir." it was painful for her to say.

He was actually pleasantly surprised to hear that she not only stated a weakness, but also elaborated on it. "Good, good", he responded, nodding his head a bit. Although he didn't particularly like talking, he felt like now was a good moment to give her a little heart-to-heart, a piece of his mind.
"The most important thing is knowing when it's good to be the fastest. Even though we strive to be the best of the best, team work and comradeship is just as important to be a good soldier. What do you gain by running out in front of everybody during collective training? Not much. It's important to be fast when running away from an enemy and situation, but better to run as a group while charging towards an enemy." He tapped his foot on the ground. "Understood?"
We won't call it quits. We'll call it the start.

Zarha stood and listened as Aldrich explained. "Yes Sir." Team work one of the other thing she is working on, but that has to be worked upon in group training and not one to one training. Right now her most important is to train in slowing down her need for speed. She knows she is fast and it was hard for her to slow down.

"Good", he said, looking at her for a little longer before turning his eyes towards the field. "Start of by doing some laps to warm up." It was difficult to train being able to work as a group in a one on one training, but Aldrich had an idea.
After Zarha had done a few laps, he readied himself. The second Zarha passed him, he jumped forward, bashing his weight against her and possibly knocking her over. Then, he took a step back and looked at her.
"Now see. If you had been running in a group, someone might have seen me get ready to move and warn you. But if you're running alone, far ahead of everyone, no one will be able to warn you. If I was an enemy, you'd be dead, but your intentions wouldn't have been to sacrifice yourself for your team, you just wanted to be better and it bit you in the ass - hard." He would wait for her to get up before gesturing to start running again, and now he would run some laps with her.
We won't call it quits. We'll call it the start.

Zarha started running trying hard not to run to fast, to pace her self, she was thinking to much on pacing herself that she wasn't prepared when Abbot bash into her causing her to stumble and trip over onto her knees. Standing up as she listen to Abbott, he only helping. However, that did hurt a bit, but not the worst pain in the world.
When he guested for her to carry on running she started running, however when she noticed that Abbot was running alongside her she was confused for a moment, however she tries to keep the same pace as him.

As they were running, he could tell that she was trying to stay at the same pace as him, which was a very good thing. After a few rounds, Aldrich suddenly stopped. "Attacker!" he shouted, once more demonstrating that now she was running at the same pace as her, he could warn her about this invisible attacker.
If she stopped on time, he would remain standing still and look at her, saying "Good, you see now?". If she didn't stop and instead kept running, he would groan and order her to come to him.

When he suddenly stopped and shouted attacker it took her a couple of steps for her to fully came to a stop, slightly tripping. 'fuck' she thought in her head. She stood up straight and walked back to Abbot hands behind her back, trying, it was a struggle to break this habit. Her eyes forced softly "Yes, Sir." she really wanted to run more but dhe dug her feet to make her stop.

Zarha slipped a little, causing her to take a few more steps before she came to a stop. Because he could see that she truly tried, he didn't feel like bitching at her for the few steps. However, he was going to mention them.
"That was a good start, Sliva. Remember that when you're running in group on a battlefield to pay more attention to your companions' speed so you can stop immediately without trippin'."
He stepped to the sideline again. "Let's try it a few more times with you running around and telling you to stop runnin'. We need to reshape these reflexes."

Pay more attention to the people who she was fighting alongside. Yeah. The word companions, on a battlefield they would be spending a lot of time so in a way they would be a companion, however, she still find the word hitting her in the heart like a tone of bricks. However, she didn't it show. But nodded. She started running trying to picture herself running as a group. She knows she need to work on these reflects like Abbott said to reshape them. She will listen to Aldrich, try and see if he give any signs of when he going to attack to prepare herself.

He'd remember her wish to be more involved as a group for their next general training. It would be easier to make her feel like part of a group if there was actually a group present. For now, it was just play pretend.
Aldrich watched as Zarha ran and then suddenly, out of the blue, yelled at her to stop running. Would her reaction time be faster this time around?
Post by Zarha Sliva on Feb 19, 2023 13:50:24 GMT -5
This time it was slightly faster only taking one step before she face planting the ground, slamming her fist into the floor annoyed. Not quiet. She knows she can do it. She stood up, not bothering if she got some muck on her, if she was told to run again she would do so. Train, it was never going to be easy. She didn't want it to be easy.
