The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

(this thread is for @alinore )
Keelan had arranged a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, @alinore , while things with his business of movings things for the King still in negotiations the ambitious Morrigan had other plans in motion to safety net himself. Time was of the essence of course pressing matters that involved Kat but he needed time between now and tonight to figure out how to get his sister to work with Kat Winters. Why were women so hell bound to hold petty grudges? This was the question he pondered while waiting for his meeting. Because men didn't hold silly grudges they fought....or killed....their beef and that was that. No questions. Everything always resolved like that for Keelan Morrigan.
When Keelan Morrigan had requested a meeting with her, Alinore’s curiosity had been piqued. Though they were of similar ages, she knew little of the Morrigan beyond what he chose to display to the world, namely his prowess as a shrewd businessman. Last she had heard, his interests lay in Coheed, not Arynn Frey, though she knew as well as anyone that men like him never stopped looking toward the future.
“Lord Morrigan.” She greeted him with the elegance and courtesy of a proper Nevermerean noblewoman. Never let it be said that Alinore Thornhill forgot her etiquette, particularly when a member of one of the most significant families in the kingdom was involved. “Please, take a seat. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Whether he sat at one of the seats on the other side of her desk or in one of the chairs positioned on either side of a small table was his choice; she would either sit behind her desk or settle in the other seat. Alinore’s office was like the noblewoman herself. An elegant display of form fitting function, the room was neat and orderly, with enough decorations to personalize it but not so many as to clutter up the space. Along one wall, beside the table and chairs, a window overlooking the gardens supplied the room with the gray natural light of a perpetually overcast sky.

Keelan took the seats across from Miss Thornhill's desk sitting firmly adjusting his jacket before crossing his legs, never let it be forgotten that Keelan Morrigan didn't waste time jumping right into business.
"The pleasure is research Lady Thornhill," Keelan sat as straight and as stiff as ever, yet he looked completely comfortable, "I'm curious about Arynn Frey, not their trinkets either, but their trade. My declaration at open court so many moons ago goes beyond just wanting to transport our growing kingdom to Coheed but why not toward our stronger alliance."
Research. As she recalled his words at open court many months ago, Alinore considered Lord Morrigan for a moment. “Why not indeed,” She agreed, seeing no reason for why establishing a formal trade partnership with their ally would do more harm than good. Not that it was her call, in the end. “Arynn Frey has a robust trading economy with Lorendale, and they traded with Dresmond as well, prior to the Eldouir occupation. I believe they have continued such arrangements with the refugees they shelter in their kingdom.” They had every reason to be as, if not more, open to trade with Nevermere than every other kingdom. “Do you have particular goods that you intend to trade?” It went without saying that he clearly intended to offer his own ships to transport merchandise.

"Their trading with Lorendale, what are some of the chief trading items? I may be rash Lady Thornhill but I need a lead on something more exotic that we can, and only Nevermere, can offer that Lorendale can't," all he needed was a bite and Keelan would figure out the rest, simple as that and maybe miss Thornhill's had a connection to Arynn Frey that she could offer.
As her area of expertise was mediating the relationship between Arynn Frey and Nevermere, Alinore did not know all of the particulars of the myriad agreements that bound their between their ally to their sister kingdom. But she knew more than most. “Trade between Arynn Frey and Lorendale includes the usual staples,” She explained. “Chief among them are lumber, livestock, and textiles and fabrics.” Hardly anything particularly noteworthy. If Lord Morrigan sought something unique to offer them, it ought not to be too difficult.
Alinore considered the implicit request for a moment before asking, “Are you familiar at all with Arynn enchantments, Lord Morrigan?”

Keelan wasn't interested at the mediocre list of trading items and his face said as much until she brought up her question, "Enchantments? No, I'm not familiar with them at all, Miss Thornhill do you have a drink to pour available? I'll get two glasses of you'll tell me more about the Arynnites and their enchantments."
“Of course, Lord Morrigan,” Alinore replied. “Please forgive me for not offering sooner.” She would present him with the options available and allow him to select his preference. Once they were settled again, she would begin to elaborate on Arynnite enchantments. “Enchanting requires souls that have been harvested from a living thing. They are stored in precious stones, from which the soul can be used in an enchantment at any point thereafter. I believe crystals are the preferred container for storage, and should you be interested, we have mountains that are uniquely suited to producing such materials.” Of course, the Arynnites also had Dresmondi with earth dyrs who could fulfill such a role, but last she heard, they had been relegated primarily to construction of the wall.

Keelan politely waved away her apology and eagerly poured them both a glass of liquor, he took every word spoken to memory. Souls. Soul containers.
"I have some more questions Lady Thornhill if you don't care to oblige me for a moment," taking a slow sip he started, "I can assume these souls can only be harvested by an Arynnite? Is it better to use a human soul or an animal's? Does a soul have a certain potency? The mines of course will produce fine containers and even better in exchange, but where do they get their souls? Surely people aren't lining up to offer such a heavy price?"
