The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
While things were shaking up, Kat knew that the military wing would be a buzz. And sometimes you just needed to train in peace. So she made her way to a spot a bit off the beaten path, a mandatory classic, that none of these fresh recruits would know. There were a few others there, but nothing like the crazy hoard that was mucking up the grounds. Not everyone was meant to be a soldier of Nevermere, and Kat for one, was glad that they were finally seeing it.
Anyone that had panicked and left during the ball should have been cut immediately. But it wasn't up to her. All she could do was continue to train and hope witches and men next to her didn't have a panic attack. Searching for a fellow witch she wanted to practice some magic, and her eyes landed on a familiar-ish face, although she wasn't sure from where.
"Oi." She nodded her head Zarha Sliva , although she didn't remember the girls name. "How's your magic, want to throw some incantations at each other?"

Hearing the recent update she thought that it was very fair indeed, she felt angry with herself, she looked up to Bex. She wanted to follow her in her footsteps now she fucking did this and it was clear as day on her face that she was angry that the one person, the one witch she fucking decided to look up to did this. Even though just one person died, it one too many cause urgg. she was picturing the dummy in front of her as Bex and she swung towards Bex's/ The Dummies head in anger.
Just as she went in she heard Lady Winter "OI" her. Last time she saw her was when Abbott was training and Rheadara cursed him like a chicken. She lowered her swords. "I feel like how the events of the ball unfolded, I take any chance to practice magic." To stop anything like that happening again. She knew Winter was the wolf paired but she thought best not to ask if he was okay. Even though she hope he was okay.
She put the sword away and found a position, she knows a few incantation and she have been reading the books that witch suggested and she felt dirty for reading them now but it have expanded her spell list.
"Good." Kat figured the woman would have a little mettle to her. She was after all, able to do a push up with her on her back. Looking at Zarha she just hoped that it translated into a hardened witch. She planned to call people out in the next few weeks, and if they were weak, they would be a target. Nevermere needed to be strong, and anyone that couldn't push themselves further had no point in being there.
Squaring her shoulders Kat gave the younger woman a nod. "You first then."
Zarha knows that things going to be tough and they will be no playing around, not like they sound of been playing around anyway. Cause look where playing around got them a soldier dying on our own ground due to stupidity of who was suppose to be a witch who shows dedication, loyalty and above all an example to every other witch out there. A woman who at one point Zarha looked up to, however she wanted nothing to do with her.
When Winter told her to go first she chanted a few words for the incantation feeling the energy flowing through her body, unto her hands as she trist her hands into a fashion and push it forward trying to forces this unseen energy right toward Kat trying to force her to go flying. Some soldiers that was in there started to step to the side to be careful with incantations can get messy.
Kat was used to training with magic, and she just hoped she had picked a good partner. Otherwise this was going to be a very boring afternoon, and that was the last thing she needed. If that's how it went though, at least she'd have a witch in mind to push further during the upcoming culls.
So as Zarha chanted, Kat started a second after her. As the woman balled her fists, Kat got ready to spring as she chanted, and when the women pushed forward she somersaulted away from where she had just been standing. Rolling into a ready stance she looked at Zahra and released her own incantation, no fire as she wasn't actually trying to kill the girl.

Knowing that she needs somebody to push her more, to find that point where she has to say no. Stand her ground and find her feet however with the chaos of things, she needs to be careful she can't fuck up not at the moment, she can't afford to loose this job, all she has is the motivation to carry this throw. She was a soldier and she will be a solider at heart till the day she days.
When Kat steady her self and sent it her way she quickly dodge out of the way by stepping to the side. Then she calmly chanted another pushing it forward trying it from a different angle so it more towards the feet. Not that it won't hurt her, it was more as she was trying to create different aspect of dodging as in chaos of combat you don't know what you up against right? Her eyes forcus on Kat's hands to see where her hands go so she can be prepared.
Working with magic you always had to be on your toes. It was a dark and tumultuous thing, and if you got caught flat-footed it could end badly. So while Kat was small, it didn't stop her from throwing her weight around when it came to the battlefield, or in this case, the practice-field.
So as soon as incantation left her lips, another was started, moving quickly and making it harder for Zarha. Moving targets were not easy to hit, and she wanted to see the strategy that she would employ, which seemed to be a foot aim. Smart move, see what feet they favored, but Kat was moving a little too much to give much away.
When her incantation left her hands it was pushed out in two parts, one heading towards the lower left of Zarha's body, and one to the upper right. This was a great chance for them both to practice some strategy, and Kat was going to enjoy every second of it.

When the incantation missed she started another one, trying stronger then the previous one but she know she has to be careful as she trying to keep, Kat on her toes and not kill her and with them being Incantation they have to be careful. Seeing that she was doing a spit she tries to doge the magic that was thrown her way by keep on moving, trying to play Kat at her own game. She tries to act like she going to aim at the feet again however less second aimmed for her right shoulder. Trying to catch her off guard.

While the people around them probably were absolutely hating this magical display, Kat was having a great time. It didn't really matter what others thought about you anyways, so why not get a little training in. With incantations flying everywhere there was going to be a bystander hit or two, but that was real battle anyways, so they were just helping everyone else really.
Continuing the stream of incantations, Kat knew to watch more than just the woman's hands, and saw her eyes give away her move, knowing to dodge away from her ride side rather than her feet. So she moved forward and to the left, closing the space to make it harder to dodge her next attack, one that she aimed in two parts again. One to the upper left and one to the lower right of Zarha's body, not afraid to show her next move and making the woman chose.
Zarha was moving around chanting her next incantation was Kat was moving closer, she knew what she was doing, so she was trying to keep her distance. The other soldiers are started to make space from them, giving space, she could sense some evil glare looking at her, but she just blocked them getting to her. When they are in a real battle especially with the eldouirs they will need the magic that the witches have. They will not be able to take the Eldouir without it.
As Kat thrown the left she knew one going to hit so she she released split the incantation and not using her eyes she aimed one towards the ground to try and make it so it hard for her to get closer to her and one aimed towards her midsection. Jest as the lower right hit her right knee. Fuck, that hurts. She couldn't let it show. Weakness have no place on the battle field.

Kat had been doing this far longer and more often then Zarha, so it was remarkable that she was doing as well as she was. But there were times that the inexperience caught up with you. The problem with releasing incantations when they weren't totally ready, was that they were not nearly as effective. Kat would have taken the blow and finished it full rather than flinging it out and not looking.
So she took the one to the midsection, squaring her shoulders and letting the force hit her as she held her arms in a defensive position, continuing on with her next incantation. The next one she aimed right for the woman's midsection, betting on her being off balance enough to make it hard to move away.

Zarha started chanting her next knowing that maybe the last one would of been stronger if she carried on through it. Her eyes stayed forcus, face nutural though she did feel slightly off balance, she did try not to let it show in the way she stood. She was one not to back down, she can't back down. When her eyes noticed the direction Kat throw hers was towards her midsection. She twisted out of the way. However, the pain shut up her leg cursing her to land on her good knee hitting her in the shoulder however she carried on through the pain. She wasn't weak, she know she was testing her, trying to find her limit.
She used the pain that was in her and try and forces it towards her.
Kat dodged the next incantation, stepping up close to Zarha and holding a dagger to her throat. "Done." Pulling the dagger back she offered her hand out with a smile. "You did amazing. What did you learn then?" Magic was always a lesson, and hopefully she was paying attention in between incantations.

Zarha started to catch her breath as Kat hold a dagger to her throat as she gave her a smile. That was fun. When Kat helped her up she was thankful she still slightly in pain however it was all apart of it. Thinking about what she learnt over the session. "To carry out my incantations even if I going to get hit. To try and not be predictable when it comes to where I am aiming. To keep learning more incantations." to name a few things she learnt.
"I know there still a lot for me to learn when it come to fighting, so thank you Officer Winters."

"Keep it up Sliva, you'll get there." And for now it helped Kat get out some of her aggression. And maybe the girl wouldn't get herself killed now on whatever assignment she was going on. It was a win win win type situation. Win for Kat, win for Sliva, and a win for Nevermere. Grand
Nodding she turned to go. "See you around then Sliva."
