The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
The ball had really changed everything. It was kind of annoying in a way. She had plans. And now she was having to switch directions. And while that was a good thing in some ways, it was still a lot to deal with. So much she hadn't been home yet. She'd get there at some point, and had made sure to direct a runner to drop a letter off at the estate for Fabian that she was dealing with things. Unimportant stuff like their marriage could wait, but it wasn't her that had made it a farce all those years ago.
But either way, she was on her way out of the infirmary, she needed to get back to training. And maybe try to find the time to get on with the rest of her plans. Which had been slightly derailed by this whole military turning on it's head thing. But that required focus, of which she had none of at the moment. She needed to train, but on her way out she almost bumped right into some witch making her way in.
" 'Scuse you."

Elletta was still reeling just a bit from the brief meeting with the Captain Commander. Because in what world had she ever expected to make any kind of waves in order to be noticed when she was only concerned on doing her job. Medic training plus her combative training and duties. A combative medic, which she hadn't seem much of so she wasn't sure if she was the only one or there were just so few of them.
That being said, she was split between her thoughts on all of that plus the two people that she cared about being in the infirmary. So she wasn't paying as much attention as she should have that it was only last minute that she moved enough to not fully run into the person coming out just as she was going in.
"S'fine." Her mind froze for a split second as she looked up and recognized the witch. "Ma'am. How's Octavius doin'? And you?"
She'd connected some dots and she also figured that Octavius would have not gone through with the pairing if the woman was a bad person so she was going to try. So as Elletta stopped Katerina for a conversation, there was genuine concern for both the with and her partner in Elletta's features and voice.
Kat rolled her eyes as the woman acted like she was the one to be forgiven. But upon a second look she was partially familiar. Someone from that night at the bar, although she couldn't remember much else. Fabian had come in to ruin her night at that point and drinking had taken over.
"He's fine. Who are you to ask again?" Kat raised an eyebrow. Just because she was no longer a paired soldier, he clearly needed protection more than ever. Poor kid was going to have a lot on his mind, and people asking him questions was the last thing he needed.
With the last 48 hours wearing on her, Elletta wasn't as snappy as she could have been. Even if she was annoyed at not being recognized, but then again, they'd spoken like maybe 10 words in a tavern with alcohol. So yeah, plus Elletta had a reason to recognize her but the other witch didn't.
"Me n Tav -Octavius- were in trainin' together. My best friend, even thoughs we got separate assignments after."
Kat raised an eyebrow at the woman in front of her. Octavius had never mentioned a training partner from the past in their extensive training together. Or even when they were talking about their personal lives. And she'd heard plenty about his best friend Grant, and a smattering of Regan unfortunately. But nothing about a... "Do you have a name? Since you seem to know mine..." She didn't like when she didn't know all the pieces in play, but maybe this girl just wasn't that important to Tavi. Or maybe she was and he just hadn't shared, which was honestly far more interesting.
Elletta wasn't quite certain how she'd feel if Octavius hadn't told his partner about her. She'd assumed that he had told her if only because of how they'd been taught the paired partners were supposed to be. Her longer term friends were aware of him, though not the newer ones she'd made since returning to Nevermere.
"Elletta Haider, ma'am."
Whether he hadnl told his paired witch about their friendship or not was not the biggest concern at the moment, just Octavius's concern.
"Doesn't ring a bell, are you sure we're talking about the same Octavius, freakishly tall, slightly goofy, heart on his sleeve?" Kat was good at remembering names, and the only bell it rung was from the night at the tavern. She had introduced herself but that had been the extent of things.
But who was she to judge. Well, she did, but only internally for now, no need to hurt the girl's feelings completely unless given a good reason. Either way, it was clear that she knew Kat, either because Octavius had told her or the soldier was a bit of a stalker.
Elletta huffed a little, because he either hadn't mentioned her at all or this witch was giving her a little shit. Which, that might be a conversation for later. Maybe.
"I was taller'n him for about a year and it was a bit funny since he's a year older'n me till he got his growth spurt in." The memory certainly was an entertaining one. "He was a lil dramatic since I was 14 and he was 15."
Kat wasn't sure why this witch was so interested if they clearly weren't close anymore. Her and Octavius were often together, even back in Nevermere, and she had only seen the woman once at a tavern and that wasn't involving her partner. Clearly they were talking about the same guy though.
"Sounds like Tavi." Rolling her eyes, Kat snorted and shook her head. "We'll be fine though." Once Regan came back shiny and absolutely fine, the guilt train could slow down a little. Until then she just planned to keep reminding him that it wasn't his fault.
"Well, could you pass on that I hope he's doin' well and that it ain't his fault?"
She wasn't expecting the witch to respond, though, and she was tired just thinking about her new training schedule. Not counting how little sleep was in her system at the moment.
"Glad he's got you in his corner and hope yous have a better day, at least."
Then Elletta slipped past her, hiding a yawn behind her head as she slipped in to check on her other friend. She could check in on Octavius later, figuring he needed the recovery time for now.
