Faylin had indeed stopped at the end of the hallway to wait for Kasper, giving the Commander's office a respectable distance. Her eyes held the question she wanted to ask Kasper as he left the office and approached her, but she held her tongue as they began walking together.

It was Kasper who spoke up first though. She turned and blinked at him, having thought it was already obvious who had done it. "Kasper. Who's position was just given to us?" She asked quietly, one brow arching up.

The connection all lined up with Faylin's counter question which made him shake his head at his own stupidity, "Bex Brekker huh? I...wow, I didn't expect that," he pushed his growing hair out of his face, "A promotion is a promotion. I just didn't want it like that, but we can do better," he wanted to take her hand , "Are you okay? I know last night was stressful in your position for all paired Witches, but are you okay?"

She grimaced at the voiced name and continued forward. "I don't think anyone expected it to be her. I think if it had been some random, low ranked witch it would have been easier to accept. But for it to be someone newly appointed to Sergeant..." she shook her head, sighing.

Her face softened, but the sadness still lingered as she said, "I'm fine. To see someone take another's wolf to use for such chaos is just..." she huffed a breath, shaking her head, feeling a bubble of anger rise in her. If it had been Kasper who had been targeted, she knew she would have reacted the same as Kat had.

"Perhaps we should check in on her and Octavius."

He could tell what happened had bothered her and it bothered him too, his own security or any other male with the active curse was taken away at the ball. He could only imagine the hell Faylin would have raised had it been him that had been forcefully changed.

"Yeah I suppose you are right, come on," Kasper agreed as the pair decided together that a welfare check was in order now. As they walked he decided to at least fill his partner in on what happened after everyone was separated, "So, after we were all separated at the ball I came up with a theory on why...well why I felt so different, some behavior I saw was odd from certain people but I believed the drinks were spiked with something. Captain Woodwick had me investigate it, I wanted everyone involved held accountable, but I found nothing. The Commander said where I didn't have any proof that my theory was no good and I'm not going to tell anyone...well you because you don't blabber...so we keep this between us."

She frowned at the information he shared with her. It would be easier to blame it on spiked drinks than accept that one of their own simply wanted to cause harm, but she had to agree with the Captain Commander. "Of course, I won't say anything."

Taking a breath, she attempted to shake the dreariness of the whole situation. "I wish it would have been a simple answer like that, but it won't be. All we can do is move on and show everyone that we are better than what happened. That it was an outlier and it won't happen again." Of course, she wouldn't be able to ensure that happened from Coheed.

"Do you know anything about Coheed?" she asked him, though she probably already knew the answer.

"About enough to fill a thimble with water," he answered honestly, "Kat knows a little more, Octavius too. I can only imagine it will be a lot like Cambria, brutes that don't like us. Cold shoulders. Big egos. Other than that Coheed had been mild under Nevermere rule. I am sure they'll give us more intel before we go," he looked at her as they walked, a "accidental" brushing of his pinky against her hand, which didn't linger, so he could get her to look at him, "I'm glad you are okay, I didn't get to see you after the ball after the chaos but I am very glad you weren't hurt.... Sergeant."

Faylin grimaced, "Dealing with the women's ire was bad enough. I suppose we'll find out if there is also unrest among the men of Coheed and what could be done about it."

She glanced sideways at him when his hand brushed against her's, the corners of her mouth lifting a bit at the use of her new title. "And I'm glad you were not Bex's target, Sergeant," she tossed back at him, her smile widening. "It is a shame we'll never know why she specifically did it," she mused.

Sergeant. It was a wild concept for Kasper all of it from his pairing, to being with Faylin, Leuitnent, and now Sergeant. Truthfully he owed a lot to Faylin because she took the biggest chance on a wild street running trash panda who was left unchecked for most of his life. She smoothed out the edges and she gave him more reasons to smile than he thought he deserved, he hadn't said it but Kasper was falling for Faylin more and more.

"Me too," Kasper agreed with a soft smile, "but something else about the ball is confusing me...@alys...um I wasn't tripping but she turned, shifted into a werewolf, did you know women could do that?"

Frowning once more, Faylin shook her head at Kasper's question. She really hadn't thought much about the King's Witch shifting at all since the ball, though a few questions danced through her mind now that Kasper spoke of it. Were there more women who could shift beyond Alys, who were also hiding the gift? As far as she was aware, Alys had shifted on her own accord, both to wolf and back from it. The implications of that were... staggering.

"No, I didn't know any woman could do that. I know I cannot. I don't understand how she was able to." She shook her head again, "I imagine we will not learn the specifics behind it either."

Kasper was scratching his head just as perplexed as Faylin seemed to be, "I have a gut feeling she's just an anomaly and yeah at her level we'll never know how or why she can but what the fuck," othe things did run through Kaspers head about how it would actually be pretty awesome to have Faylin do the same thing as Alys....the pair of them running through the thick woods of Nevermere together...free...two beasts.

"All I know is shits about to get real serious around here, we should get together tonight and start putting together some plans for training, I think we need to go see Captain Woodwick too and work with him."

Faylin nodded along as Kasper spoke, agreeing with him wholeheartedly. She huffed a breath and lifted a hand to smooth back the hair that she currently had tied up.

"There will be a lot of work to do. First here, and then in Coheed once we leave." She paused for a moment, absently chewing on her lip before she said, "We should maybe take some time for just us... Before we leave for Coheed. It might be awhile before we even have the time to think about such things once we're sent off again."

Not to mention that she still had no idea how to navigate their relationship when it came to work and their positions. She had mostly opted to pretend they weren't together, and whether or not rumor had made its way around to their superiors, none of them had mentioned anything about it. Until it was brought to them as an issue by someone else, she supposed she didn't need to make one out of it herself.

Kasper couldn't help but beam and ran a hand through his hair, "I'd like that, really," he already had thought about it too, "How about after our next day off, we blow off the kids training and we just spend the day together? I'll cook us dinner...at your place? For the privacy because we don't get a lot of that and I think we need to talk about our promotions and how we should navigate them with uh...you know relationship."

She smiled and nodded. Her place sat completely empty most of the time these days, between her military duties and simply staying with Kasper at his house, she had begun to think about selling it. But Kasper's idea of privacy was indeed a good reason to keep it.

"That sounds great," she said, though her smile didn't last very long as Kasper brought up the exact topic she had already decided to avoid. "I'm not sure," she conceded, "I think it might be best to just continue as we were here, and ensuring we're only acting on our relationship in private."

She sighed, glancing around for any listening ears, "I don't want it to seem as if our relationship isn't a priority, but I don't want to take the chance that someone would see us as being distracted from our work by one another. If that happens, they'll separate us." She had grown so used to having Kasper by her side since they'd been paired, she wasn't sure she would know how to function anymore on her own.
