The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

"She's Coheed born, the women share the same traits as the men there," Othello absentmindedly corrected the Captain and saw when the man reached for the ring and he felt that long lost connection to the riddle of steel that filled most kingdoms within Terra Nova mostly he searched for that familiar metal surf board calling it to his master. Meanwhile Othello picked up a hefty battle axe, "wanna see something wickedly cool Captain?" he gave the battle axe a little twirl before he and the axe propelled up into the air! He shot up like a arrow firing from a bow. The Captain would hear laughter from Othello for a bit before he was so high he couldn't, and Othello climbed into the air until he was nothing more than a dot in the clouds.
Othello was a fearless man. His view was more than anyone in the world had ever seen...he saw over the mountains...he saw the ocean...and then he was in a free fall letting go of his control over the steel axe.
"Wickedly cool?" Warren asked, skeptical not of the man's talent, but of the choice of words. Warren felt old just saying them. He watched Othello pick up the ask and twirl it, and took a step back as he shot into the air. Further and further up he went, and Warren took another few steps back and lifted his hand to his forehead, using it like a visor to look up toward the cloudy sky. Othello was gone, just like that, but Warren knew he was still there. He hadn't left. By now, he felt that Othello's loyalty to Regan, if to no one else, would keep him there. Warren understood that well enough to trust the man.
So he stood back and waited, watching with little worry as he began to fall back down from the sky at what most would consider a frightening speed. But most could not do what Othello Allemeade could do. So he waited patiently for the man to return his boots to the ground. He felt no need to take this away from him.

Othello was in a full dive and he could almost see the entirety of Nevermere in his free fall. The wind rushing around him exhilarating the Gifted man couldn't help but smile all the way down and it appeared that Othello was going to eventually smash into the ground until his fully steal metal board came flying into view. Othello adjusted the board as it came to him to have the foot straps on the board toward his feet and he pushed his feet into them...the outline of Warren could be seen now...the ground was just a few feet...Othello attached to the board now went into a spiral...he could have counted the swords from here perfectly if he wasn't spinning...suddenly the board lifted pulling upright at the last minute.
The large Gifted man was laughing as he came to a stop before Warren, the axe from earlier joining his hand too, "Ever flown before Captain?"
The right edge of Warren's lips pulled upward just slightly as Othello plummeted to the ground. "Show off," he mumbled to himself, some kind of noise like a faint laugh pushing out from deep down in his chest as he shook his head. It wasn't condemnation. The more time he spent with the man, the more he liked him. The gift was his, and clearly it was second nature. He had a feeling that, even if no one at all was around to see him, Othello would still be doing the same thing.
It was an honest way to be. Unapologetic. Warren admired that. Not many people could manage.
Down, down, down he went. Chaos in spiral would have had Warren sick, but as Othello came to a blunt stop just before him, all Warren could do was grin and meet the man's eyes. "I've not, and I hope that isn't an offer, because I have no desire to give it a first try today. I'll leave the flying to you, Mr. Allemeade."

Othello chuckled, "Ah flying ain't nothin' Captain, did I ever tell you the story about the time in Lorendale when I rode on the back of a dragon?" the board sank to the ground and Othello stepped off at the same time he floated a steel sword into his hand sending the axe back to the weapons rack, giving it a twirl he looked at Warren, "anyways," the metal board lifted off and was gone returning back to it's own personally rack within the military wing, "Regan when I have this pent up jitter likes for me to push my limits of control," all around them every metal sword would rise as if being controlled by some unseen force, "so we spar at the same time as I make all these swords fight themselves. My goal is to concentrate on all and everything at the same time," the blades all paired off and began clashing as Othello took the blade in both his hands facing Warren, "come at me Captain Woodwick, don't hold back," and that usual chipper Othello seemed to fade, replaced by a cool cold calm wolfs demeanor.
"A dragon, is that so?" Warren asked, twirling his sword in his hand. "Do you mean Raine Eldouir? Is that not what they called the great beast her gift turned her into?"
He watched as the swords began to rise into the air, pair off, and fight one another. Regan's orders seemed to stay with the man, a sign of good leadership and also a sign of trust. Even though he had no fear that Othello would use any number of the floating swords to impale him, he did have the ability to do it. If Regan had allowed him to do so while they were sparring, she must have trusted Othello a great bit. In that, he found himself strangely envious of the Allemeade. Regan may have told Warren about her flames, exposed her strength to him, but he could tell there was much more beneath the surface and he doubted she would trust him enough to speak to him about it. Maybe Othello already knew. If he did, Warren was, at the very least, glad she was able to talk to someone.
"I do not have the strength of Ms. Lassiter, I'm afraid, but I'll do my best." He said, and holding the sword and shield, he charged for Othello, taking a swiping swing from right to left.

And Othello met Warren with steel against steel blocking the sweeping from right to left attack, yielding its progression to the left with the middle of his blade. From here Othello spun out to his left aiming to spin behind Warren and "lightly" smack the Captain across the back of his calfs with the flat part of the blade. As he did so all the manipulated swords seemed to spin with their master but nothing had dropped to the ground.
The sweep of Warren's sword was easily blocked, which he'd expected of the man he sparred with. From that stance, Othello spun to move behind but Warren spun his own sword just as quickly, his hand and therefore blade moving behind him to block the smack with the flat of his blade. Warren might not be gifted, or exceptionally strong in any way, but he was still an experienced swordsman, capable of reading movements when they were so obviously forecasted.
He had to turn his own body, then, holding his sword against Othello's until they were face to face again. Then he'd attempt to lift both up, sliding the blades along one another so that he could take a step back, create some distance between them, and then step forward more carefully, thus resetting to the beginning. He paid no attention to the swords all around him, instead focused on his target. He moved in for a jab toward Othello's chest, following by a sweeping diagonal cut from Othello's left shoulder downward.

Othello dodged the jab by rolling his shoulders out of the way, but that swipe from his left shoulder down stung like the day he was born. If it had been a real sword with a edge Othello would have had a nasty gash going from his left shoulder across, could have been fatal but three swords dropped with a clatter to the ground as he had lost focus. The only way Othello could react was by slamming his right elbow into Warren's gut or the man's ribs if he tried to shift for the blow. If Othello was successful he would shove off of Warren, take a step back and then attempt to big boot the man.
Warren's swipe was successful, but the swords that dropped to the ground did distract him. For a quick moment he worried that he'd gone too far, but that worry was physically pushed out of him by both an elbow to his ribs and then a boot to his chest.
He was thrown backward and landed on his back in the dirt, but kept his sword up defensively, tilting his head at Othello with half a smirk. Slowly he pushed himself back up with one arm, and once he was to his feet, he rubbed the sore spot from the elbow. Then he tossed his sword aside, into the dirt. "Hand to hand?"

Othello let out something between a cackle and a giggle, he liked Warren and he liked a challenge even more, "I thought you'd never ask," and the Gifted man let the sword fly out of his hand adding it to the slowly revolving and changing pattern of swords. They all shifted into a ring around the two men circling them.
Othello lunged forward looking to go with a heavy volley of quick jabs.
The last time Warren had sparred with someone close to an equal, it had been Regan. But that hadn't really been much of a spar. In front of two subordinates and with her being careful not to display her inhuman strength, the spar had come to a quick and easy end in her favor.
Warren had no doubt that he would lose this fight, too, but much like Othello, he had his own frustrations to release. He turned his focus back on the man, reminding himself not to let the circling swords distract him, watched Othello's movements. The bigger man lunged forward and began throwing jabs, the first few of which Warren managed to duck away from. The last he wasn't quite quick enough to avoid, and it hit him square in the jaw only because he'd turned to the side to avoid being hit in the eye. The pain flooded in, radiating in his teeth and head, but it didn't stop him. He immediately followed the hit up with a left jab and then right hook, both aimed at Othello's face and followed by a left hook aimed to his abdomen.

Othello ate every blow the jab dug into his lips instantly he could taste blood, and the hook left a ringing in his ears as little black dots filled his vision but he was smiling. Teeth stained red he smiled even when the body shot landed forcing a barking laugh Othello smiled. The circle grew shorter and the blades had shifted to point inward, having to shake the cobwebs Othello went back on the offensive by attempting a spinning back hand aimed right at Warren's head. And still the circle of sword drew closer forcing the men to fight in tighter spaces.
In a real fight, neither of the men would have been allowing the other even a moment to regain themselves. More likely that Warren would have already been dead, even if Othello wasn't using his gift. But after doubling over and laughing, seemingly at the pain, Othello's sudden spinning back hand hit it's mark and struck Warren across the other jaw. He stumbled back, nearly bumped into one of the swords, forced his momentum forward to avoid it, and landed on one knee instead. Grunting, he felt the sting of blood drip down from a cut across his cheekbone and wiped it away with the back of his hand as he stood up and moved back into the center.
This time he moved in close and aimed another left jab at Othello's face, but as he threw it, his right leg reached out, aiming to hook the back of the bigger man's knee with his foot. If Othello went down, Warren would then try to boot the man in the chest to push him to the ground.

Othello was stunned again by the jab, it was fast it was precise and coming from the center of most of Warren's mass weight it set the head of the Gifted man's back. The the hook on his leg and the momentum of the punch set Othello on his ass and the blur of the foot coming down made a sword launch forward, it wasn't aimed to hurt Warren but it would come to stop under the Captains boot blocking the path of it.
Othello took the moment to kick Warren's leg out from under him.
