The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Hadrian didn’t try to decipher her reasons for accepting his offer. He assumed that a woman of Meiying’s standing would not do something she did not want to do, so he took her ‘yes’ at face value. Though he had been quite the philanderer in his younger years, Hadrian did think there was something endearingly traditional about asking a lady’s father permission to dine. Hadrian wasn’t a man used to asking permission for much, so the change of role was refreshing.
“Consider it done,” Hadrian said, smiling, clearly pleased to have secured her consent. He sighed. “I will not keep you too long, Lady Meng, but know that my door is always open should you have need of me.”
Meiying wasn't sure anything would come of his response. Most among the nobility knew the Commander's history. He'd only seemed to settle after meeting and falling for Kennet, and having been definitively rejected by her only just now, she couldn't help but think that his request to dine with her was little more than an attempt to make himself feel better.
But, either way, there would be no hard feelings from her. She could certainly think of worse men to dine with. At least they had the navy and the military in general in common.
With their meeting wrapping, Meiying nodded and stood from her chair, pushing it back in close to his desk carefully. "I'm sure we will have much to talk about in the coming weeks while changes are still be made, and trained. I know you're busy, so I'll try to bother you only when necessary. As this relationship works both ways, however, I hope you will consider my door open as well."
If he attempted to get up from his desk to see her out, she would lifted a hand quickly to stop him. "No need to see me out, Commander. The door is just there," she said, hooking her thumb behind her, a lighter tone accompanying the comment alongside a smile. "I'll speak with you soon. Be well and strong." She dipped into a casual curtsy, then exited his office, closing the door behind herself.
