The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
The grin she was met with made her eyes widen slightly, yet it also made her own smile grow. This was a new look, a goofy almost carefree look on him she was sure she had never seen. Even if they had been together for the last six years. It stole her breath and yet she still wasn’t prepared for the way he laughed. She practically was crawling back up to his with the sound and had to tell herself to stay in place. At least for a moment.
“Well, hopefully you won’t wait another six years for the next time.” She teased him, moving to lean over him, hovering her face over his. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a smile on your face,” a finger tapped his cheek, looking at the way it bunched with the smile.
“I love it,” she told him, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth, as if afraid she might wipe it away by pressing an actual kiss to his lips.

He could hardly take his eyes off of her. There had never been someone that he so wholly trusted and cared about it. Not to mention that she was easily one of the most beautiful people he'd ever had the pleasure of lying his eyes upon. Thinking back upon how they first met he never would have imagined that this is where they would end up.
"Don't worry," he said to her with another small chuckle. "I don't think I could wait another six years if I tried. Maybe I'll make it my goal to try to be the one to wear you out," he teased her in return.
His hand gently and tenderly stroked her back as she moved further over him and he looked up at her before she placed a kiss to the corner of her mouth. In that moment he was filled with emotion. "You make me happier than I've ever been, Kezia," he told her affectionately, some of the giddiness wearing off into more sincerity. "I love you." It was the first time he'd said those words and he hoped she wouldn't take it as a spur of the moment thought just because they'd finally had sex. "I've loved you for a long time."
His sudden playfulness had her bark out a laugh, her head tossing back and letting her curls cascade over her shoulders and onto his chest. “Wear me out?” She beamed at him, those brown eyes catching his own and she bit her lip to stifle the rest of the laughter. She almost reminded him that while she might have been a little out of practice, six or so years of it, she had done this quite regularly in her old life… but it didn’t matter if she did. Instead, she focused on them: “I encourage it.”
His lips met hers and she nodded in agreement that she too was happy. Happy with him, happy here. Small chattering came from within the room as the dyrs had to agree as well. They were most definitely happy with him. But then he said those three words and she grew more serious. Her smile slipping a bit as he carried on that he had loved her for a while. Her breath escaped her and her lips were on his in an instant, pouring herself into it, into him.
“I love you,” she whispered against his lips. “For a long time.” She nodded a little, her nose brushing his before she kissed him again. “It seems you and I are bound together in more than one way.” She murmured softly, tapping the necklace around his throat that matched her own before she tapped over his heart.

He didn't really think that she might not feel the same but still, saying it out loud was a big step for him and with her dresmondi nature maybe she wouldn't. So when she kissed him so passionately and repeated the words he felt a sense of relief mingled with the intense love and affection that was filling him up. The sound of chatter from the dyrs only increased that feeling. They were part of her and he loved them too.
"I don't know why I got lucky enough to meet you that day," he told her, "and I couldn't begin to imagine then where it might bring us, but I'm forever grateful that fate or gods or luck or whatever you want to believe in brought us together."
Truthfully, had it been Kezia years ago, long before Lorendale, long before her collar and capture in Coheed, she might not have said it back. Love was such a different thing in her world there. Sure her heart had swelled with others, sure she had shared in the pleasures of others as well. But this… this was different.
Kezia had waited for him, for years she had been patient because she enjoyed his company. She enjoyed his curious mind, his straight to the facts ways. Even though she had been a bit touch starved at first, every one she got now was only amplified with meaning. “I am so grateful too.” She smiled, her hands moving to hold his face between her palms.
“I didn’t know what it would mean when you offered to remove our collars. As the other Dresmondi left me and Raiden there. We were so unsure, so terrified that we might be taken back to be controlled.” She admitted softly. They had no idea if they could have trusted Sylas or not, not really. “Yet we put our faith in you. And not only did you give us a chance to be Dresmondi again,” she brushed her lips against his cheek, against the corner of his lips, “but you gave us purpose again. I don’t want to be anywhere else. I want this path we are on. For however long we can be on it with you.”
Kezia was no fool, in her years here, she had grown to know that Arynnites lived for so long. Much longer than her own. She didn’t fool herself into thinking she might escape such a thing, but she knew she would spend the rest of her life enjoying him, loving him, for however long they’d have together.

Sylas basked in her words and all the things he was feeling. It was like soaking in a warm bath after spending a week out in the frozen tundra. It didn't matter where life took them from here. As long as they had each other.
After a time he looked over to the two dyrs. One he knew very well and the other not at all. Both parts of her. "Tell me more about Geb?" he asked. "I want to know him too."
She didn’t take his silence as a bad thing, not after what happened and the way they still laid wrapped up together. But as he looked towards the dyrs, the other parts of her soul that sat curled together at the moment, she gave him a bright smile.
“Geb is still learning.” She said fondly. “He is more curious than Raiden, and looks to us for a lot. But he likes scratches against his paws and he’s stronger than he looks.” She smiled as Geb’s head pops up to look at them. “Little but mighty. Like Raiden… like me.”

Sylas kept his gaze on the pangolin as Kezia spoke lovingly about him. He grinned as the dyr popped his head up to look towards them, noting their turn of conversation. He'd never seen such a creature before. He wondered what their natural habitat was or if there were many in Terra Nova at all. Perhaps they were rare, maybe nearly extinct for all he knew. Or he simply had to admit that in his long years he had not done nearly enough travel, but even Arynnites had their limits.
"Little but mighty indeed," he said affectionately to all three of them. "What element do you wield?" he asked Geb directly, knowing that he'd have to hear the answer from Kezia anyone but wanting to do the dyr the honor of addressing him personally, just as he'd always done with Raiden.
Geb seemed intrigued by the way his nose twitched when Sylas addressed him and not just Kezia. It was a first for him, at least outside of Dresmondi. He couldn’t tell him himself, but a small squeaking noise left him as if he could. “Earth,” she answered softly. “He’s the reason we got out of the canyon where we fell…”
Kezia turned back to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “What happened while I was gone? Tell me everything.” She prompted, and she’d want everything. Even if it made her heart ache. She wanted to know, and would spend the evening telling him about her fall, her time with the Black Claw and her time in Nevermere.
