The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

[ For @norah ]
With the shock of the ball receding, everyone was trying to get back to business as usual. Regan and Othello’s mission to Cambria was still a go. Someone was branding women, ceding unrest and fear in what was already an unstable region.
The rotten apple had to be removed from the barrel.
Regan had requested a meeting with the foreign minister. She’d resolved not to talk about the ball’s events if she could help it—not just with Norah, but with anyone. After exchanging the usual pleasantries, Regan went straight to business.
“What do you know about the brandings in Cambria?”
Everything felt a blur now a days. Cambria was a large thorn in her side that needed plucking. Things in the winter seemed to have calmed but after losing the soldiers she was used to having, it was growing harder to work on her own there. Now? She could either wallow in sorrow or turn that fire onto something else.
Cambria, it seemed, would be the next target. She got the message on seeing the King’s Huntsman. And while before she might have tried to keep the woman away with the rather… disastrous way of her handling things… Norah now thrived for it. She welcomed her, though no hint of the playful courtier danced behind her eyes. And when asked, she laid out what she had.
“They strike in the dark of night, hiding their identities. Going after Cambrian’s who have slept with or have bore children of Nevermeran’s. They fear it will spread to their children next, marking them as dirty for the fact they are not Cambrian and Coheedsman offspring. The boys are handed over, which many have been brought back to Nevermere with their fathers or watched with distaste for the girls who have stayed behind. I believe Isolde is behind this, from her clear mistrust in us and the way she handles us as well as those close to her, called the Valkyrie. I believe it is those females who are carrying these brandings out.”
Producing vials she had prepared for this meeting. “I’ve made these, to help with trying to find the cuprites in the dark. It allows the drinker to see in the darkest of situations and I’ve finally figured out the solution to the glow it seemed to have. It lasts for enough time to be quite beneficial. But, I am watched closely. They don’t trust me… still,” and that was when the first smirk kissed her full lips.

Isolde. The fact the so-called Priestess was involved solved one problem and created another. Odina would soon be installed as her replacement, which would be made simpler if there were clear reasons for Isolde to be removed. But Regan didn’t doubt that the women of Cambria would let her go without protest. Maybe Isolde had her enemies, but even a few zealous Cambrians could give Nevermere quite a headache.
Regan reached for one of the vials and turned it over in her hands. A clever little trick; one that would no doubt come in handy. She huffed with a single laugh, shaking her head. “Well, if Isolde doesn’t like diplomacy, I hope she’s ready to find out what the alternative is.” Regan put the potion back on the desk. “Anyone I should talk to while I’m there? Witnesses? Maybe someone that would be willing to testify?"
Whether they wanted to or not. They had potions for that sort of thing, after all.
Norah gave a small shrug, almost like she’d rather Regan come and deal with the less than diplomatic way of taking. Norah was about there herself, and it takes a lot for her to get to that point. The potion was placed back on the desk, but she made no moves to collect it. It was for Regan and whoever else she’d use, not her.
She listed a few names that actually shared small bits with her over the months, both Nevermeran and Cambrian alike, but then there was one who she remembered seemed to want to help. “And Kelder, she has a sister who has been marked.” And then listed those who she thought might be involved. “The most untrusting and closest to Isolde are Revna, Viveka, and Willa Wren. Those are the ones who I think would be actioning on Isolde’s behalf if I had to take a guess.”

Kelder. Revna. Wren. Regan took note of each name for later review. She supposed this Kelder would be a good place to start, though Regan is Andy sure that was even necessary at this point. Maybe Isolde had others doing her bidding, but it was the puppet master that must be dealt with. Hopefully, once their strings were cut the marionettes would drop.
“Thank you,” Regan said, dipping her head, “I appreciate your time.” She moved to take the potion and stashed it in her jacket, “This too.”
Unless there was anything else, Regan would take her leave.
Norah dipped her own head in respect. “Of course,” she smiled in a way that didn’t quite reach her eyes. It was hard to after everything she had lost lately… “Huntsman?” She called as Regan had turned to leave, taking a step forward. “If I could be any assistance with what you have plan, any further assistance that is, please, don’t hesitate to summon me.”

Regan smirked. “Yes, ma’am.” Even though she technically outranked Norah—or at least, she guessed she did—Norah would forever be her superior. Just by the nature of how she moved through the world and the power she wielded because of it.
She’d leave, and go to make plans based on the information she’d been given.
