The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
A part of her was longing to still be apart of the military, to serve the king and country, to be out at sea. However when she saw the way her dad looked at her when he asked her to step down. She knew it was more then the comander officer asking her to step down. It was her dad asking her, it was hard to say no and she did wish her dad did't put her in that position to do that. However, as a expecting mother, she knows where he was coming from and in a way she was hoping when her baby was old enough he would be still around to guide her child in the field that is the military.
However today she was having tea with the princess. She was becoming her lady-in-waiting, which is a great honour to be by the young Princess side.Ophelia is a treasure among the people of Nevermere. She was currently wearing a loose dress but at this point her bump was clearly showing as her stomach was high so most of the time she would be walking around with her hand on her belly.
When she arrved at the room their Highness and her agreed upon she was greated by a royal guard. There was a slight pain in her heart but gave a smile. "I am here to see Her Royal Highness Princess Ophelia. She is expecting me, Lady Valeria Delaney." There was a warm smile on her face.
The royal guard went in and introduced her in and once in Val give a curtsy which for a pregnant lady was hard but she still managed. "Your Highness. I hope you are well?" She asked pleasantries.

Ophelia had changed into three different dresses before finally moving on to combing her hair. It wasn’t out of vanity; it was simply that she didn’t like the way some of the dresses felt on her skin. It was one of several little nervous habits she’d secretly adopted but was too busy to be concerned by. Her maid was patient with her and assisted with each dressing without comment.
Finally, Ophelia emerged in a modest gown of Nevermearan silver. She looked rather like Kennet, she thought—with dangling earrings and a clean, modest cut. More of a woman, less of the girl she sometimes still felt she was.
Ophelia was looking forward to meeting Valeria. Having been in Arynn Frey so long, if she’d met Valeria before she’d most certainly forgotten. But Ophelia had every reason to believe they’d get along swimmingly. She was from a good family with a solid reputation, and her record in the military was spotless. The princess wasn’t entirely certain what she hoped to find in Valeria. A friend, perhaps. A companion. For without Akagi, even in her own kingdom, she felt ever so alone.
When Valeria arrived, Ophelia stood and returned Valeria’s curtsy with a slight nod and a bright smile. “Quite well, thank you, please—” Ophelia motioned to a chair. She’d sit, indicating to the servant they were ready for their tea.
“I was so pleased to hear from your father. Plenty of women in the military, but not near enough of us at court. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to give up the sword, but I am glad to have you.” This was what Ophelia did best. The gracious hostess. Nevermere’s darling daughter.

Valeria smiled Ophelia didn't need to give her a curtsy after all she was royalty and therefore have no need to show her respect but that is why people love her. "I am happy to hear you are doing well your highness." She smiled as she sat down on the chair opposite the Princess.
She keep a smile on her face when she mentioned putting down the sword to work at court. "It is really an honor to be here and thank you so much for offering this role to me." It really is an honor to be amongst a royal staff and work alongside them. "Court life can be a bit intimidating at times but I am sure together we can face it." She was warm toward the princess.

Valeria was, so far, everything she’d bee promised to be. Ophelia was pleased. She assumed Valeria would not sit until the princess did, so, not wanting the heavily pregnant to be on her feet longer than absolutely necessary, Ophelia took her place at the table without delay. She smiled at Valeria, seeing in her a vision of a woman she’d been not too long ago.
“How are you feeling?” Ophelia asked as the servant came to the table with tea which she began to pour, “Motherhood is one of life’s greatest gifts, yet also one of its greatest frustrations.” She teased, but there was a deeper undercurrent to her words. For her, motherhood was still quite a peril.

Valeria would happily stand as long as Ophelia would be happy to. However her ankles were starting to ache, even though she wouldn't complain not out loud to anyone. A few staff at home have offered to message her ankle to release some of the pressure that was starting to build within the. But growing up being a soldier she was taught to push through the pain.
When the Princess asked how she felt a small smile on her face thinking about the new life she was bringing into the world. "I am excited to meet them. However, I am slightly nervous about some areas. But I've got a good enough support system, my husband been so supportive and he looking forward to become a father." it really warms her heart up.
"Any tip for a mother-to-be?" She asked knowing the Princess have a few kids of her own.

Ophelia smiled, chuckling a little. The question triggered a twinge of guilt that tightened her chest. Ophelia presented the image that was expected of her; the graceful princess, the patient mother. But she knew that behind closed doors she came up short. She cared for her children but had long suspected she did not love them the way other mothers did. There was a secret seed of resentment that had grown roots, resentment for what they’d cost her body and mind to bear.
“To savor the little things,” Ophelia said warmly, taking a sip of her tea, “The fleeting moments will be the most precious in hindsight. No doubt the nursemaids will do most of the work—as they ought—but don’t forfeit all the little pleasures of motherhood to them.”

There a soft smile that came from Valeria, she never had any sweet moments with her mother with her passing away during childbirth, so for her those moment will possible worth a lot more to her knowing that she never had it with her own. Not like she didn't enjoy time with Hadrian because he is the best father a girl could of asked for. He supported her, and pushed her to be an independent, level-headed woman. To know what she want from life.
Looking down at her Belly as she ships her tea. "The small moments I know will be amazing I still remember the first time I told Lord Delaney." They were a laugh, "This normally quiet man jumped up and down with joy. That moment made me cry tears of joy, knowing that during this I have a husband by myside who celebrates and standby me." It felt nice that @keir is the sort of man she want to spend her whole life with.

Ophelia listened. The girl’s bright-eyed idealism was a welcome, soothing balm to her own anxious disposition. Oh to have that view of the world; one so happy, so bright. Though she’d come to love Akagi, that was not the foundation on which their marriage had been built. It had been duty, responsibility, and the wishes of her king. What Valeria had was quite the luxury indeed.
“How perfectly wonderful,” Ophelia said, continuing to sip her tea, “Those are the kinds of memories that will help you weather the storms. Cherish them.”

Valeria will always hold onto those magical moments close to her heart. They say that the witches have such powerful magic within them. However, sometimes they are moments like that moment with Keir that makes her realise how special life is. How she feels stronger with Keir by her side. "I wouldn't know where I would be without him, I never realised that I was missing something." There was a soft smile. There are times when she is worried that she might lose him but she promised him that she will always stand by him through whatever is thrown in their direction.
"Hows is his highness?" She thought that she better not just talk about her. If she was to be her lady-in-waiting then she better get familiar with other things.

Happiness radiated from the girl who seemed so much younger than herself—though Ophelia knew she was not. The princess smiled and sipped her tea, politely going through the motions she’d been trained to perform. At the mention of Akagi, Ophelia smiled—again, in the mechanics of presentationalism that were so ingrained in her she hardly had to think of them.
“Ever the busy servant of his family and kingdom,” Ophelia said warmly, “My recent stay in Nevermere has put us apart for a time now, but he knows I have obligations here just as he does in Arynn Frey.”

"I am sure that the people of Arynn Frey are always grateful for the service his highness gives. Dedication to one family and kingdom and family is always important." Smiling Val always want to serve her country any way that has been asked of her. She was brought up to be thankful for her country and that everybody has a part in it. She was also stubborn enough not to let anybody push her not to do something that she doesn't want to do, well to a point. if there was something she wanted she will fight for it. She wanted to serve that is apart of who she is.

“Yes,” Ophelia smiled, “I couldn’t agree more.”
The afternoon passed in pleasant conversation warm as sunshine. Every now and then, Ophelia felt a though she were looking into an alternate reality of the kind of young woman she could have been had her circumstances been different. She envied Valeria then, in the happiness of motherhood, the joy of her marriage. But then, instead of resenting her, Ophelia decided to revel in it.
She left the tea feeling lighter than she had in some time, but it wouldn’t take long for the warmth of Valeria’s sunshine to fade. Either way, she was glad to have found an ally in her new lady-in-waiting.
