The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
The day was rapidly approaching when they would all be shipped out to their new assignments. Faylin had engrossed herself in learning as much as possible about Coheed as she could, though she was certain nothing would properly prepare her for what she would face in that kingdom.
The names of the soldiers that would be accompanying them to Coheed had finally be released and she intended to speak with them all before they left, so, along with Kasper, she had sent word for them to meet in the training yard today to go over any questions they may have and to simply take stock of who she had been given. She had also requested that Kat join them, since she had already spent some time in Coheed and could assist in answering any questions the soldiers may have. She arrived early to their meeting place, naturally, and leaned against the wall while she waited fo the rest to appear.

Mosse arrived early with a few minutes to spare, and looked for any other soldiers that showed up. After a minute his brown eyed gaze settled on Valana and he nodded respectfully to her, standing at attention. He had his doubts but this was when details would be clarified and given so then he'd know some more orders to fall back on. Until then, the very tall man waited patiently with the standard military poise.

If asked, Kat would have said she arrived early because she had just finished a training session in the area. Which while not totally false, wasn't the full truth. She had a lot to prove as one of the newest officers in Nevermere. And so she arrived only moments after Faylin, despite not even being on the Coheed team.
Hopefully she could help though. "Coheed, buckle up for men doubting you." Another place with men in power, gross. She was glad to stay with the devil she knew her whole life.

Zahra was there early she wanted to make sure that she get all the notes needed for the journey ahead. She was nervous about what in store plus she would be her first time out of nevermere. She know she can't see any of these soldiers as friends however she have to trust them.
Kasper is young enough to fall under the werewolf curse, yet it is dormant. Should the curse be activated his wolf form will be that of a white shaggy fur color keeping his smallness even though he is still rather large for a werewolf. His eyes also retain their green color.

Kasper did arrive late and separate of Faylin, he was looking over his review from both @berengar and @temperance before folding his documents up and tucking them under his arm before falling in beside his sister. He opted out of standing beside Faylin because this was her mission and assignment to lead, he would be her support as instructed. In fact he'd been right beside Faylin already every step of the way.
As soon as she was joined by Kat and the first couple soldiers trickling in, Faylin pushed off the wall and tucked her hands behind her back, standing and watching them all gather silently. Her eyes flicked to Kat as she approached, grimacing at her comment. She was certain it wasn't just a bit of doubting she'd be dealing with from the men of Coheed.
As Kasper finally joined them, her gaze hung on him for a beat longer than it had anyone else before she looked away. His presence steadying her, she stepped forward to speak to the soldiers. "Take a look around and familiarize yourself with these faces. You'll be seeing them a lot in the coming months, as we have all been assigned to the territory of Coheed."
She began to slowly pace in front of the gathered group, her hands still firmly clasped behind her. "For those of you who don't know, I am Field Sergeant Faylin Valana. I, along with Sergeant Kasper Van Zant, have recently been appointed to oversee the operations in Coheed." She would turn and tip her head towards Kasper, giving him time to make himself known and say anything he wished to.
Beginning her slow pace again, she continued, "I wanted to gather everyone once before we are shipped out to see what questions or concerns you may have. I assume most, if not all of you, have never been to Coheed before and I would like all of us to be as prepared as possible before we leave. I've asked Officer Katerina Van Zant to join us today to assist in answering your questions, as she has been stationed in there before."
She tipped her head towards Kat in the same way she had done Kasper, and then turned to the gathered soldiers, allowing her gaze to jump between each face. "You may speak freely."

When Fraylin told the soldiers to look around and to familiarise herself with their faces, Her face just faced forward. at the end of the day she was here for a job not to familiarise herself with other soldiers cause they can't do that right. She was sitting waiting to see what they gotta say.
When she asked if they got any questions for them. "What is our task once we get to Coheed?" She went straight in, she doesn't really care to know what is it. Her face was that of a soldier even though she is one of so young, there was no youthfulness, no excitement of going on their first mission. Just I am here for a job that it it. the quicker we are done with it that is all that matters to her at least.
Like any good soldier, Torsten followed the woman's orders and looked at each of the unfamiliar faces. He was well acquainted with only one and the Van Zants had quite the notorious reputation but it was actually Field Sergeant Valana that he'd never personally met before. Returning his attention to the brother and sister, Mosse asked,
"What weaknesses and strengths should we be aware of and prepare for first in Coheed? Will we be working alone or as one full unit?"
Just as all new soldiers who are aware of possible death, Torsten tried to hold back his nerves at the prospect of looming war. It was real now and he had no experience outside of Nevermere. As to be expected of anyone unfamiliar with war, he had some very strong misgivings about the prospects ahead of him.

While Kat couldn't answer Sliva's question in the slightest, she could at least start to answer Mosse's. Faylin or her brother could handle the rest of it.
"Strengths? A lot of them could snap your arm like a twig, women included. And some of them pick up what they learn quicker than others. And don't whisper about them either, swear they somehow know." Shaking her head, Kat thought that was about as helpful she could be on that front. "Weaknesses, men will underestimate you ladies all the time."
Faylin zeroed in on Zarha Sliva's face as the girl spoke, noting how detached she seemed from everything going on. There was no excitement or even intrigue, just cold calculation. Just as Faylin had been in her younger years.
Features softening just a touch, she made a mental note to speak directly with the young witch at some point, if at least to get to know her a little better. "Our task in Coheed is much the same as it is here. We are there to maintain order and protect an asset of Nevermere."
Turning her gaze away from Zarha, she looked out over her soldiers once more. "We will abide by the new schedule put forth by the Captain Commander, which means you will only have one free day a week. We will all have one designated day for training, and your performance will determine whether you have a second day of training or another day of work. And trust me, you do not want me to decide you need extra days of training."
She paused to allow Kasper to interject with anything he may have wanted to add before adding, "We will be stationed in Gilead, the main city of Coheed, and patrol schedules will be posted once we are there."
She listened to what Kat had to say in response to Torsten's question, filing away the information for herself. "The people of Coheed are magically gifted with enhanced senses and strength, so it is important not to underestimate them," she noted. Looking to her fellow female soldiers, she also added, "Women have long been seen as inferior in Coheed. They now have a small group of female soldiers, but the stigma has not changed. Expect pushback if you are a woman."
After a beat she added, "Despite differences in culture, remember that they are citizens of Nevermere and I expect you all to treat them as such." She fell silent, waiting for anymore questions the group might have.
'Women have long been seen as inferior in Coheed.' she'd said, plus Winters' half answer had Torsten very confused. He didn't know who exactly had put the teams together but even a lowly soldier like himself could see it was messed up.
Shouldn't an all female team be going to Cambria while the larger amounts of male teams be sent to Coheed? It appeared to be a highly focused women's group and Kasper and him were along as afterthoughts on this 'mission.' While it was clear that this was a 'women on this team weakness' and not gilead's, it was essentially a non-answer.
Torsten was lawful good and nearly every step of this had the smell of corruption to it. If this team was about women's solidarity and a sisterhood, why were he and Kasper included at all and why were women knowingly being sent to Coheed where they'd be a liability instead of to Cambria where they'd be assets? Valana had clearly shown that her loyalties were not to Nevermere or her unit, but to only women. Well he did the only thing he could do in this highly peculiar and nonsensical situation. Just exist in silence, waiting to die.

Zarha looked towards Faylin as she spook as she made a note. So there was possibly other males in the room not that she noticed cause she didn't wait to see who else is with them. "Are we to train alongside the women there? Help with training? Or do we train away from them? Also, do they know about the women of nevermere being witches?" They are important questions like would it cause an outburst if a witch was to summon something or cast an Incantation?

"I expect the women to be timid not only towards us as soldiers of Nevermere but towards men in general so we need to train with them, right beside them and while we need to push them and be firm we can not be overbearing until these women are comfortable," that was all Kasper had to add but quickly added, "of course Sergeant Valana will have the orders for this better formulated."
Well this was awkward. Mosse listened to them speak around the room, with normal awareness that others existed. Especially since his last encounter with Zarha had been her kissing his knuckles as if he'd suddenly become the king of Nevermere. Since then, he'd kept a strictly professional distance from the woman, not wanting a repeat of the odd occurrence. Of course the people specifically called to the room were normally and perfectly aware of each other-they were human.
While the female Sergeant's words had confused Tor, Sergeant Van Zant's had helped simplify things a little better. So he and Mosse were to be protectors of some sort perhaps? Though he had no idea what the word chauvinist was, he was the ignorant, living example of one without even having a clue to it. His lack of life experience showed openly.
Women were strange mysterious creatures to the ignorant man, whose physical size did not match his life experience. Zarha had come on way too strong with lots of kissing on a first and only date and Elodie had turned out to be an elitist snob and even more of a prude than he himself was. That was his sole experience with women and as such, it was not a very flattering quality or quantity to sample from for fairness.
But they were being deployed to another place and Sergeant Van Zant had said they'd train the foreign people and that the women would be shyer than the ones they knew here at home. Using the only limited experience that was all he had to go by, he thought that maybe gentler women were a much more comfortable thing to be around.
This was a quiet group, and she wasn't certain if that was a good thing or not yet. Searching the faces of her charges again and finding very little of interest, she was about to dismiss them when the Zarha spoke up again. Faylin nodded one, "Yes, we will continue to help the women train. They have relied pretty heavily on the Nevermere soldiers stationed in Coheed and you will find that they fight and conduct themselves quite similarly to ourselves."
To the second question, Faylin considered for a moment. "They know a bit about our magic, yes. Nothing too specific though, and they do not know anything about the men's ability to shift. I expect it to remain this way unless we are told otherwise. Some information is best left unshared, even with our territories." It would be the only way for them to maintain the upper hand in a worse case scenario.
She waited a moment before she said, "If there is no other questions, you are dismissed. I encourage you all to spend some time training together before we leave so you have a general idea of what you can expect from the others. And if you have any other questions at a later time, please feel free to find me to ask."
If there were no other questions, she would dismiss the group.
