The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Drystan slipped into the corridor, feet lighter than ghosts as he made his way to Elena's rooms. She'd made a request of him that had certainly led to quite a few interesting discoveries, ones that he was quite certain that she would enjoy learning about as well. As the Queens' hand, it certainly wasn't unusual to see him head to her quarters at various hours, depending on the day's activities.
A slip of mist curled under the door to make sure that she was alone before he knocked on her door very lightly. Tucked out of sight behind him, there was a soft cloth package.

Elena had been keeping herself busy as she worked through her efforts to gain more traction with the Dresmondi. There were still plenty who disagreed with her methods but she truly believed that what they had already done wasn't working. There had to be more. Or at least Elena hoped could be. Sure, she enjoyed being feared but what she really wanted was to be loved, revered even.
At the soft knock on her door she answered instinctively from her place on the windowsill. "Enter," she answered with little emotion or thought.
Drystan slipped in, closing the door behind him and keeping the package tucked out sight. She hadn't asked for a gift but he'd started a trend and maybe the man had enjoyed picking out things not just dor her but a few of the others as well.

She only looked away from the window when she heard his voice, her nearly meloncholy expression turning into a smile. "Here? Never," she commented as she moved from her spot to move over to him, her curls showing the bounce in her step as much as anything else. She took his hand and pulled him to the edge of her bed.
"Tell. Me. Everything," she said with a tangible enthusiasm.
Perhaps the one blatantly positive change that could be attributed to Dresmond was how less-tightly wound Drystan was around particular people. He didn't mist away or go rigid under her touch but willingly let her drag him as she pleased, even letting his fingers curl ever so slightly around hers.
"Would you like your gift first or your gossip?" There was a barely-there glimmer of teasing in his eye, as he produced the package from behind his back and held it just out of reach. Even the faint intonations of his voice were lending themselves to the gentle tease.

Elena let out a girlish, delighted gasp at his question. "You brought me a gift!?" she said with a little squeak of a squeal. She literally hoped onto her bed, bouncing on her knees as she moved to face him and reached out her arms, palms up, eager to receive. "Let me see! Let me see!" she said excitedly.
Drystan was hard-pressed to ever deny her so it was only a moment of holding out before he gave in and handed her the package to open. To Myla, he'd gifted a silken dressing robe and while selecting it, he'd taken notice of a similar one with a complementary pattern. Almost like a set, so he'd picked that one for Elena.

Elena dove into the package unabashedly, eager to find out what was inside. When she pulled out the robe she sighed with delight as her fingers ran through the silk like water. There was nothing this fine anywhere in Dresmond and she desperately missed beautiful things such at this. She brought it to her face and rubbed her cheek against the cool fabric. "It's perfect, Drystan, thank you," she said with a tender smile.
She moved to sit cross legged on the bed, the robe in her lap and the box pushed to the side as she patted the spot on the bed beside her. "Tell me everything you learned," she said with almost a begging tone in her voice. "Don't leave out a single detail." Her eyes sparkled with anticipation of news and gossip from home.
