The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Elletta felt like her brain was possibly going to melt out of her ears. If she'd known that this would be the result of her actions at the ball.... It wouldn't have changed anything because she would have reacted the same way no matter what. Even if it hadn't been someone that she knew, she still would have done the same. Still, it wasn't a path she'd ever considered for herself so it had been a major surprise. If it wasn't for the new knowledge being shoved into her brain every day, the witch would have wondered if it had actually happened.
Her plan, made the moment she'd been told that she did have to go to mandatory training and that she couldn't be held back by her parents, was to become career military. Maybe work her way up. Because it was a for sure way to make sure that she never had to go home. Option to enlist? Taken immediately and she never looked back. But combat medic? Hadn't crossed her mind until it was practically thrown in her face.
Which, it was a good thing, and a good back up just in case something happened that took her out of military service. She'd seen how things had started heating up in Coheed, and even if she wasn't talking about it, she had a feeling that it wasn't going to stop heating up.

Vesper had taken on her new role very seriously and was quickly starting to become a regular sight in the training grounds. Her light skin, dark features, and general presence would have drawn the eye already but with her new station and the step, thud, step, thud, step, thud of her false leg she was becoming someone that people tended to pay attention to. Most tried to avoid her. After all, she couldn't judge their value in their position if they were never in the same place at the same time, right?
Unfortunately for those people, Vesper also noticed absences and could tell when people were trying to duck under her gaze. Today she had ended up in the medical wing. There were some new recruits she had heard. Part of her wished she had been at the ball in order to see how everything had gone down. On the other hand, it probably benefitted her that she had missed it.
Stepping in among the trainees, Vesper stood back like she usually did and began to take little notes here and there as she watched the training going on.

Head down and focused on the task at hand -studying potions today-, Elletta was not aware of the visitor that had stepped into the wing. Her focus was on the new information being given to them. She wasn't the one to normally ask any questions, since some of the other trainees usually asked what she was thinking before she could voice. And, sometimes, she had trouble keeping up with speaking and writing at the same time.

As she watched in silence, Vesper observed the newer recruits. She had no intentions of judging them too harshly right out of the gate. She might scare people and most people thought her to be heartless but it was simply that she was very good at hiding whatever inner dialogue was going on inside of her. New recruits needed the time to learn how to do their jobs well and she was watching for signs of insubordination as much as for signs of skill.
Her gaze fell upon one of the newer recruits though she couldn't remember her name off the top of her head. She was a pretty, young thing and remained focused on her task.
While she'd gotten better at writing over the years, it hadn't been a skill she'd pursued as much in comparison to her other skills. She hadn't grown up with the skill, hadn't grown up with letters and books at her disposal like the city folks had, and it was times like this that it would make it known. Her writing was steady but if anyone was paying attention, it was more like she was making sure they were the correct letters, so in order to keep pace with the lecture, she was having to drop small words that wouldn't mess her up when she went back over her notes afterwards.

As the training began to wrap up Vesper considered just leaving but before she made steps to do so she decided it could be beneficial to speak to some of these medics. While people began to clean up their work, Vesper moved over to one of the newer recruits. "Hello, I was wondering if I could take a few moments of your time and ask you a couple of questions?" she asked Elletta, her own notebook still held at the ready in her hands.
