The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

@miriel
Zarha was going about her daily task, making sure that nothing is out of place. She wanted to make sure that her first shipment out goes okay and she goes back to Nevermere with a good report. She doesn't really expect Fraylin or Kasper to sing her praises cause, she just a soldier and this was her first mission so she just want it to go without a hitch.
She was currently walking through the parabolti training area when she noticed one of them training, she couldn't help but admire her skills. She kind of guessed the woman in front of her was of similar age to her. Zarha thought for a moment knowing that this woman infront of her can easily break something if she hit her so she thought maybe it best not to do fist to fist combat till maybe she know her skills. "How good are you with a sword?"
Miriel was training. Hard. She had embraced it full force after having her daughter. Shania needed to be protected. She needed to have a good role model. One that didn't try to twist her daughter into crazy shapes that would catch the eye of a man. Hopefully by the time Shania grew up being a strong warrior would suit the men better. It's what they needed if Coheed was to become the strong kingdom it could be.
So she was practicing. Going through the forms that Catrin had just taught her, focused and in the zone. That was until an unfamiliar voice startled her. Whirling around with her sword out, Miriel was rather defensive when startled, so hopefully the owner of the voice was far back or had good reflexes.

Zarha knew that sometimes teaching people about the unexpected is good. So when the girl roughly the same age as she spun round and with her sword, Zarha dunked. Avoiding the blade. "Good reflexes, however, if I may... always expect the unaccepted. in battle loads of things can happen, things will appear out of nowhere so reacting instead of acting."
She was trying to give helpful advice. Zarha walked towards the swords and picked up one. Hopefully she up for a little training. Zarha started with a upwards motion. Showing no indication of where she directing her sword.
Miriel dropped the sword, hand over her mouth in shock. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, you just startled me!" She was glad that the woman had good reflexes as cutting one of the Nevermere soldiers probably wasn't a good idea. She didn't want to make Izen look bad in anyway, and surely that would.
So as Zarha started swinging a sword at her, she yelped and jumped away. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you." Putting her hand up, Miriel wasn't used to fighting with anyone but Catrin and her fellow Coheedswoman, having missed the last batch of Nevermere soldiers teaching due to her pregnancy.

Zarha noticed that this woman was nervous. She slowly put the sword down. "No need to apologies. It okay, I am sorry I scared you." Her voice was calm. She tries to relax. Putting on a reassuring smile "I am not hurt, you didn't offend me. We are both okay. Okay?" Her eyes are soft.
She wasn't used to soldiers jumping away, so of course it was a bit of a surprise for her but then she remembers that Coheed is slightly different that, the women here only recently learning to train. Well for her it just habit. How different a world we live in. "My name is Zarha, do you want some water?"
”Oh sorry of course, sorry I’m not used to, well you.” A sheepish smile washed over her face, and she laughed at herself a little bit. All of this was new for her, and while she was good at adapting, this was still quite a change. She’d get there thought, she had to, and this woman didn’t seem awful. Her mother had sown deep seeds of doubt about other women and it was taking time to break past that.
Normally her hair would be cloaking her face but she had taken to tying it back recently. So she bit her lower lip and decided to be strong and brave. ”If you’re still up for it, I’d love that lesson Lady Zarha. I’m Miriel.” She would love to go pick up her sword if the woman agreed. Miriel was channeling her inner Catrin.

The individual in question seems to apologize excessively, which may hinder their ability to become a soldier. It's important for them to overcome this habit, as being overly concerned about potentially harming others can be a liability in the military. "My advice is this: don't apologize for your emotions. Mistakes are a natural part of life, and it's okay to make them. In fact, we learn and grow from our mistakes, which ultimately makes us stronger." Zarha give Miriel a warm smile.
At the end of the day Zarha is there to help, to work alongside the women, to help train them. Of course the women will have different strength then what the woman of Nevermere will have. So of course Zarha will have to learn what the people of Coheed strengths and weaknesses are to help them to grow and become stronger. Zarha going to be here only for a couple of months so it not like she can get over familiar with the people here but she hopes that it give her enough time to help where she can.
When Miriel called her Lady, she couldn't help but smile, she never been called lady. Well that because at the end of the day she isn't a lady and so it sounds odd for somebody to call her lady. "Please Zarha will be alright." She smiled though she doesn't want to say she not a lady and for her to apologies even more as she picked up her sword.
"Of course I am always up for training." She takes a deep breath. "So you are jumpy on the battlefield you can't afford to be jumpy. Always be on your toes, be ready for the unexpected."
Zahra could give all the life advice she wanted, but Miriel was trying to overcome everything that she had been taught. Her mother had beat into her that you always apologized for something a man considered offensive, and to Miriel this Nevermere soldier was on par with the men she knew. This was all things she had to relearn on her own, and some words from a woman who would never understand wasn't helpful in the slightest.
"Zarha." Nodding her head, Miriel held her sword well, no longer the girl who held it like a hot iron poker. She had spent a lot of time working on that, and was quite proud of the fact that she could do such things, with a stranger at that. Her grip was proper, one of the few things she could practice on her own.
Biting the inside of her cheek as the woman talked about her being jumpy, it was something she was working hard on with her fellow Parabolti. One didn't change overnight though, so it was taking time. "Unexpected." And with that she swung her sword towards the brunette, taking her lesson as instructions.

By day's end, she recognized that her role in Coheed was crucial as she assisted the women and upheld communal harmony. Zarha, her chosen name, would aid her in achieving her objective. Additionally, it would enhance her training sessions with Miriel, as it would build trust. Zarha could not afford to have anyone distrust her, even in the slightest.
She knows that things like changing of habit will take time and practise. For Zarha she is still learning to trust people, she still learning that she can trust other soldiers and be able to form friendship with people who are soldiers. However despite been working on it for a year she still find talking to people hard, she fully open up and finds who she is. Lke she doesn't know who she is without her brother. She doesn't know who she is outside the training, outside of the military setting.
When Miriel came swinging with the sword she used her sword to block with and then she will carry that through by going a slight diagonal trying to make sure that she doesn't give away what her plan is.
There were a lot of skills that Miriel needed to work on, and one of those things was attacking. Defense had always been her main strategy, but apparently that didn’t always work. Sometimes you had to go on the offensive, so she was willing to try. After all a Coheedswoman swinging first would probably be unexpected by many. Unfortunately it also meant she didn’t really have a lot of practice blocking right after a swing.
Her sword clashed with her opponents, drawing her sword back and readying for the attack. Zarha swung at her and she blocked it but rather than pulling her sword back she pushed, using her strength to try and shove the woman back with her sword.

Zarha, a young individual of only nineteen years, recognizes the importance of swift and intelligent decision-making when it comes to advancing in her career. By dedicating herself to enhancing her skills at an early age, she proves her commitment to self-improvement and continued personal development. In today's ever-changing and rapidly evolving landscape, her adaptability and versatility are invaluable assets that will undoubtedly play a significant role in her future success.
Sensing that Miriel using her sword to push her back. Miriel has the strength that she doesn't have so her feet even though she was staying upright she was being pushed back. Zarha's eyes focused on the woman in front of her she try and use the distraction to try and spin behind her and use the back of her sword to make her buckle.
Miriel liked fighting someone from Nevermere, it made her feel stronger. She might have been less experienced, but she had her strength to rely on, and it was something good to remember. So she pushed the woman backwards and it felt a little like a victory, but she stayed focused all the same, knowing it was only a small advantage.
Watching the woman she noticed her trying to spin out, and so she broke the contact as the other woman did. While she would try to spin behind her, Miriel would pivot and strike out with her sword at the spinning soldier. She figured it would be a good time to get the best of her with her back turned in some attempt at fancy footwork.

In the midst of her training with Miriel, Zarha's lightning-fast reflexes allowed her to evade a surprise spin and sword strike. Despite being not one of the strongest soldiers in Nevermere (something she is working on), Zarha views her speed as both a gift and a challenge. While still learning to conserve her energy, there are times when relying on her speed is essential for survival. For example this time it helped her/
Zarha found the training session invigorating, relishing in the opportunity to face a new challenge. Though training with her fellow soldiers in Nevermere can become monotonous due to their predictable fighting styles and moves, sparring with a new partner disrupts her rhythm, preventing her from becoming too comfortable with the same techniques. It give her a chance to think more on the spot.
Zarha stand in a position waiting to see what Miriel was about to do.
Miriel wasn't sure what Zarha was doing in their combat, but either way it seemed as though the woman had decided to disengage. Putting her sword down she smiled at the woman, not used to training for such long periods of time after her pregnancy. Hopefully the soldier didn't expect more after that.
"Thank you Miss Zarha." Nodding her head she wasn't sure how a woman her age was able to be so skilled. It made sense if she thought about it, but of course women being more than just a piece of meat was new to her. Maybe someday she could move so easily it seemed impossible.
