The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Today the day. She was nervous but she was so over the moon to meet the little one in her. She have been pacing the floor of the bedroom for a couple of hours breathing through the pain.Valeria been dealing with the pain all night and now it early hours of the morning. There no such thing as painkillers so she has to deal with this pain. She has called for Temp, her friend. To help through this moment
She walked over to the table in her and Keir’s room and placed her hands on it slightly swaying side by side to try and reduce the pain slightly. However, here comes another contraction. They getting closer together. Val felt a soft hand on her back slightly rubbing it. ”Lets get you laid down baby should be here soon.” One of the healers that had been with her since the start gave her a warm smile.
She stood there for a moment looking for her husband, her Land boy, if he was in the room with her she would take his hand if he lets her and was guided to the bed and laid down. Focusing on her breathing as they started to get ready. She hated feeling scared, she was a Usher however in this moment, she had to trust the people around her that she was in the best care possible.
Temperance arrived as quickly as she could once she'd gotten notice that Valeria's water had broken and labor was imminent. She'd gathered up her usual supplies and hurried over with a heavy bag in hand, a simple dress, and her hair tied back. A slew of people met her at the door and ushered her through to Valeria's bedroom, apparently expecting her, and once inside she'd sit her bag down and roll her sleeves up. There were others in the room, other women meant to help her - and that was no surprising, because she was nobility. They likely had even more experience than Temperance did, but Valeria had asked her to be there and help, and she was determined to do so. She watched as the other women laid Val down, and hurried to Valeria's side. If Keir had already arrived, she'd bow her head to him, but her focus was on the pregnant woman. She'd take whatever side he wasn't on, and hold Val's hand.
"Okay, Valeria," she'd say with calm confidence, looking the woman squarely in the face and placing her other hand lightly on her stomach to feel the baby. "How far apart are your contractions, and about how long are they lasting?"

Keir was there but as he had learned, he stayed out of the way and quiet. Today was about Val and the baby everything was about their safety and health, so he held Valeria's hand as soon as they laid her down, "you got this Val, just breathe," there was so much excitement bubbling on the surface as a healer handed him a damp wet cold cloth to press and pat Valeria forehead, "everyone's doing very good by you love," he whispered.

Valeria focus on her breathing "They are about every four minutes, about a minute long each." Charlotte Keir's mother who helping out today. She been a huge help the past couple of days. She has prepared the bed ready, got the towels and was the level head asking the staff to prepare the hot water. She got onto the other side of the bed as she took her daughter-in-law's hand. "Squeeze my head dear."
She leaned softly into Keir as she felt he pat her forehead. "I am scared Keir." She was holding his mother's hand. She looked at Temp she was thankful that her friend is there. However, as she looked at her friend she felt another contraction come through her body. "I want to push." She screamed her hand squeezing Charlotte's hand.
"Okay, that's good," Temperance assured her, watching as her mother in law came to the other side to take Valeria's hand. Temperance moved toward the foot of the bed, with another healer in the same spot on the other side. It was clear to Temperance that she hadn't been called until right up to the time the baby should be delivered, which was fine, considering Valeria seemed to be in a good space.
"There's no need to be afraid." Temperance said reassuringly, having heard her comment to her husband. So she directed her assurance to both of them. "The baby is in the right position, we're all going to make sure you're both taken care of. All you have to do is breathe, and when you feel like pushing, you push. Okay? Another one is going to come now..."
She watched the woman's reaction and nodded. "Alright, take a breath and push."

Val looked towards @temperance, grateful that she was here. She wanted her here, apart of her was scared that the baby would came before Tempy arrived. "Okay." She said as she felt another contraction flush over her. She grabbed Keir Delaney arm as she was pushing through the pain, feeling movement. She was screaming the roof off if she could.
She was thankful that both Keir and charlotte was in the room as well. Charlotte was being strong not being bothered that Val is Squeezing her hand tightly. Sitting by her daughter-in-law. "You doing great sweetie. Couple of pushes and they will be here." Smiling softly.
Some births could take hours and hours, all day and night. Usually the first baby was the hardest for mothers, but everything seemed to be going right for this one. That wasn't surprising. Nobles often had the ability to take it easier when they began to get closer to giving birth. They had constant access to good healers and midwives who knew every step of the process. Val had every luxury at her disposal as a Delaney, and that made things easier. Right now was the hardest part.
"That's right," Temperance said as she pushed. "It's going just as it's suppose to. I know it hurts, but everything is going as planned." Temperance assured her. "The baby is in position. Another big push and the head will be there. Take a second, take a breath, and push through it, okay? When you're ready."

Hearing Temperence voice through her screaming was relaxing. Even though she was in to much pain right now to think straight. She was thankful that she was in the hands of Temp. Her words sooth her. After the last push she leans into Keir. "You hear that Keir, their heads nearly hear." Her voice was weak as all her energy going to pushing.
After a moment she needed to push again. She pushed and pushed until the head is born.

"I do love, keep pushing you are doing great," he cheered her on looking between her, his Mother, and Temperance as if trying to make sure this was what he as supposed to be doing...
More often than not, the father of the child was not in the room. They rarely had the stomach for birth, many more just had no desire to be present while it was occurring. That Valeria's husband was present and supporting her was nice, and seemed to help soothe Val's worries.
"He's right, you're doing great, Val, just a little more," Temperance said, looking to the other healers in the room. "Get the towels ready," she told them, and they nodded. "Little more Val, there we -- there it is," she said, reaching to support the babies head as it was pushed out. "That's the head, but this next part is the hardest, okay? It's going to be a little more painful pushing the shoulders out, but I'm going to help as much as I can. Just take your time, take deep breaths, and when you're ready I need a big push."

Keir's mother gave Keir a reassuring smile. She leans into him slightly more, she was grateful that Keir was in the room in their with her. She doesn't know if she could go through the process of giving birth without him in the room. She was scared that something might go wrong. But hearing his voice saying that she doing great soothed her.
The head is born, and the baby has nearly entered the world. They are nearly here to say hello. Valeria was excited to meet the little one. To be ale to hold them in her arms and watch them grow up to be a wonderful member of society. Hopefully to be there for the most important milestones of their lives. From their first laugh to their first steps. Hoping that they can be there for them.
So looked towards Temps as she ordered the healers to get the towels ready for the baby when they arrives. She looked towards her. Her eyes was sort even though for Valeria, this is the most sacrist moment in her life due to it killing her mother. She looking at her with the look that shows that you trust the person with al your heart. There was no words spoken but her eyes spoke it for her as she started to push the biggest push she can. As the shoulder started to come out and it was painful she was squeezing Keir's mother's head so tight that it was going tobe so red when she let go.
Temperance knew very well that death during pregnancy was a very real fear. It happened often enough, but Valeria was under the best possible care. With multiple healers nearby, and likely more standing by, she would be well taken care of long after Temperance had left the room to return her.
With the baby nearly out, all that was left was one more big push. It took Valeria a few moments to regain her breath, but when she began once more to push and breathe through the birth, Temperance was there to guide the baby. One shoulder popped out first, allowing the baby to twist as it should. Wrinkled nose to the air, Temperance grinned and nodded. "Almost, Valeria," she encouraged. "Just breathe."
It would only be another few seconds before the second shoulder was able to push through, and with that, the rest of the baby could be pulled freely from it's mother. A great sense of relief would likely wash over Valeria with the baby out, and while the healer clamped the cord that still attached the two, Temperance rested the baby against her shoulder and patted it on the back. Within moments, the silence of the room would be filled with cries.
A towel was handed to her, and she gently wiped the baby as clean as possible. Another woman would cut the umbilical cord, and with the baby ready, Temperance was moved beside the bed to offer it to Valeria and Keir. "It seems you have a healthy baby girl, Lord and Lady Delaney," she said, carefully resting the baby against Valeria's skin and stepping back to give them and their family space.

Pushing and pushing until the baby was out. However she was holding her breath waiting, looking towards the baby. It was weak smile as she realised she pushed a baby out of her. leaning into Keir, holding Keir's mother's hand. However when she heard the magical noise that is the first cry of a new born baby. She relaxed. "Congratulation you two." Keir's mother gave Val hand a small squeeze as she moved out the way slightly as she gave her son and daughter-in-law time to cherish this moment as she went to help the nurses.
A healthy baby girl val was crying happy tears. She hold her arms out ready to take her daughter in her arms and when she was there cherishing this moment. "Ora Delaney, hello. We're your Mommy and Daddy" she smiled down at her. She then looked up at Temp. "Thank you Temperance I am so grateful."

Keir was crying, happy full tears as soon as he saw his baby girl, Keir then moved in beside Val as she took the baby combing back his wife's hair dabbing at her forehead with a dry soft cloth to wipe away sweat.
"She's perfect Val, absolutely perfect," Keir looked around the room at the very hard working nurses, "Thank you all for keeping her alive and getting Ora here to us safely, truly," he was talking from a joyful heart before returning his attention to Ora a delicate thumb brushing the girls cheek, "oi love, welcome, we've been waiting patiently for your arrival," he kissed Val on the cheek, "you did great love, wonderful, she'll be strong and resilient like you deck runners..."
Temperance gave the pair some space as they celebrated the birth of their daughter. While they did so, she would work with the nurses to clean up the mess that always came with birth. After a few minutes of back and forths and washing up, Temperance would return to Val's side. "How do you feel, Val?" She asked as she leaned in, pressing two fingers upper right hand side of the noblewoman's throat and counting in her head. "Your heart rate is slowly returning to normal, that's good. Are you feeling particularly sick or pained? Are you hungry or thirsty? You'll need to begin feeding Ora within the hour, so if you think you can eat a little something, you should."
