The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Imani was in the centre of Gilead with her two kids. She had just left her father's tent after another discussion about how she should marry soon. Her father kept complaining about how there wasn't enough room for her, Isiah and Aiza. He loved training with Isiah, but said he would still be able to do that if they were out of his hair.
She had just sighed and told him she would try to find a husband. It was difficult. Most men weren't too eager to marry a widow, especially not one that had broken with the tradition of being a stay-at-home-mother. She was a Parabolti, and she was proud to be one.
The arrival of the Nevermere soldiers also had her on edge a bit. She worried they wouldn't be nice to her kids. Raping and murdering wouldn't be unheard of, and she wasn't exactly looking forward to having to deal with these issues.
She was lost in thought and hadn't noticed that Aiza had started to talk to another child. When she did, Imani walked over to crouch down next to the girl. "Hey darling", she said with a kind smile. "Where's your mother?" It wasn't unusual to see a child alone in the city, but this girl seemed rather young.

"If it was Sunny, you would be looking."
Archelaus hadn't argued with his second wife because he knew her words to be true. He probably should have cared more about the fact that his youngest daughter was missing than he did. She was probably just playing. Was what he had told his second wife when she had come to him, frantic and searching for the young girl. Understandably, the woman hadn't taken his disinterest very well. Perhaps a little bit ashamed, the man had gone in search of his missing child.
The man would eye the Nevermere soldiers with an unmistakable amount of mistrust. He didn't much care for them being here but knew that they couldn't do much about it, at least not any time soon. So the witch doctor bit his tongue.
With a grumble, the man continued his search. He had, it would turn out, just about found the girl when Imani stumbled upon the sobbing child. "Excuse me..." Archelaus would address the woman. "You're speaking with my daughter."
The girl didn't respond right away, so Imani just smiled kindly at the child and took her by the hand, lightly stroking the back of it with her thumb. "It's okay, darling, we'll find your mother." She got up again, still holding the girl's hand, and looked around. Aiza held the girl's other hand and kept talking her ear off about wanting to play tag or hide and seek. Isiah was playing with some boys, and Imani knew he would stay close, so she wasn't worried about him. When she looked back in front of her after having looked at Isiah, she saw a man approach them.
"Oh, I'm sorry", she responded, a bit surprised by the phrasing of the man's words. It sounded like he was accusing her of talking to his daughter, instead of just stating a fact. "She seemed lost, so I was helping her find her mother."

Archelaus' daughter would pull to head towards her father, albeit without the same enthusiasm as she would have had it been her mother - or even Archelaus's other wife. Already in his mind, the witch doctor was ticking this off as another success, and something that would get his wife off of his back for a little while. "She was lost." The witch doctor clarified, giving his daughter something of a reproachful look. The man had learned the hard way just how easy it was to lose those dearest to him. "She wondered away from her mother, which she's been told not to do a number of times." The man continued to give her a reproachful glare.
The lesson done, and his fatherly duties fulfilled as he saw it. The man decided that, given his status as the witch doctor, which carried with them at least some obligation to be civil. It struck him that he didn't know this woman. He could only assume that she was one of these new liberated Coheed women who had come about over the course of the past few years. "Thank you for taking care of her."
The little girl walked towards her father, and Imani got up from her crouched position. She smiled at the man. "Well, I'm glad she's been found, then." She knew what it was like to have your child do what you've told them numerous times not to all too well. Her own children were little rascals as well.
She didn't know Archelaus well, but knew he was the witch doctor. She had expected the witch doctor to be a bit more inviting and friendly, but the men of Coheed could be a little cold sometimes. Not all of them were as nice as Kaalim.
"Oh, not a problem", she responded kindly. "I know how scared it would make me if I lost my little Aiza, so I wasn't going to just walk past a girl all by herself. You have a very pretty daughter, by the way. I'm sure she takes after her mother's beauty."
