[ For @noah ]
It wasn't often that Meiying got out of the castle and did her own shopping. Usually she spent her days off training at her family estate or dining with her mother. Day in and day out she found herself surrounded by people who needed her in one way or another. Even when she was working in her office, people were in and out, passing along parchments or making requests. In order to properly counsel the Hand of the King, Mei had to be up to date on every in and out of the Kingdom. As much as it was Kennet's job to know everything, it was Mei's to know even more. No easy or simple task, no time to simply let the mind roam.
Being surrounded by people who didn't know her had sounded far better for the day. The sun was high in the sky, shining brightly despite the cloud cover, and with Ver settling in it was beginning to get warm. She wore a simple, modest dress and and left her short hair down to graze her shoulders, though it was tucked behind her ears.
On her right arm hung two bags - one with a selection of fruit she'd picked out from market, and another with a couple of white, long-stemmed flowers sticking out the top. It was by the flowers that she stood now, attempting to pick something out she might like for her office. She'd gone the whole day so far without speaking to a single person, and that had been wonderful. Now it was early afternoon, though, and she was beginning to get hungry. "What serves late lunch nearby that you might recommend?" She asked the woman selling the flowers, as she leaned down to smell a pretty pink one.
"Uhh, I dunno, my lady," the older woman said with a shrug. She seemed hesitant to suggest anything, which Meiying guessed was because if the food was bad, the older woman might get blamed for it.
"Shame, I suppose I'll find something on my own then," she replied.
"Well, you gonna get those flowers?"
"I haven't decided on which ones yet," her eyes moved back and forth from the pink ones to the blue ones. "I like them all. I don't suppose you have a suggestion about these, either, hm?" Meiying asked playfully, and the woman's lips tightened. "I thought so."
