[FIVE-SHOT closed]
Katerina took a breath while she looked in the mirror. She was decked in all black, her hair tied up, and the ring from Arynn Frey on her finger. She had nothing on that marked her as a Nevermerean, should things go wrong, it would look like she was an enchantress and wouldn't raise any heads to Nevermere. Not that she really cared, but she would be damned if she was as messy as the last member of the ranger program.
Taking a step back from the furniture into the center of her room, she opened a small portal, like a peephole to look through. She had chosen nighttime on purpose, and looking around through what looked like a black swirling mass to others seemed easy at night. There unfortunately weren't many maps of Dresmond, so she had to start unspecific and work her way through. The first ten were busts, all far out in some deserted area. The eleventh showed the outside of some wagons, but no people. Two more later and she was able to get a keyhole inside.
The keyhole was at the boarder of the wagons, and she saw what looked like guards walking around every so often. They looked untrained, although some had dyrs which was interesting. Today was just reconnaissance, and she wasn't going to set a foot in the place. So rather than pop out and give of them a heart-attack, she moved on. Three portals later she was looking at how some of them were living, and it didn't look ideal. She caught a scent, and it was less than ideal. So she closed that one and moved on. One attempt later she found a tavern, studying all the details, making it easy to return to in later times. It didn't seem as patrolled, an ideal place to start perhaps.
After looking through a few more keyholes, Kat considered herself done for the day, and there was something called too much information. So she started sketching, getting ready for the first letter she would write for the Commander.
