The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Hiram could heal the body, and he had, but he could do nothing for the mind. That was Honora's wheelhouse. Had he been the type to dole out advice he might have urged her to do something with the memories of what had been done to her. She didn't want to end up broken. Then again, brokenness seemed to be an unavoidable Allemeade trait. Fire refined Eldouirs, but it seemed to melt this inferior gifted family. As it was, Hiram only gave her an extra second of attention before standing.
"But it doesn't make us friends." He reminded, fully aware of the lack of exclusivity when it came to Honora and delving into minds. There was nothing special here, and he was determined to have nothing special with anyone again.
"Now," he started, brows furrowing in thought, "we'll take care of your shit first, then move to mine. Where's the bastard you didn't kill?"

Honora was still smiling. With the pain gone, she felt awake to the beauty of the world; the warmth of the sun, the slight chill from the stones beneath her, the soft kiss of the breeze on her skin. Though Zahaela still screamed at her from the far reaches of her mind, Honora’s new strength was enough to smother her. To make room for the quiet certainty of what came next.
“Of course not,” Honora responded, a little more playfully than the situation called for. She looked upward at the way the light filtered through the trees, an absurd smile still tugging at her features until Hiram posed his next question. Her expression hardened, smile souring into something more sinister.
“His name is Quinton. He's connected to the Wyndham family, but other than that...” Honora was quiet for a moment, then, “You found me. If I showed him to you, would you be able to find him the same way?”

"Is he gifted?" Hiram asked, his tone conclusive. Hiram had learned in recent years that there was much yet to learn about all that he could do with his gift. Thus far, he wasn't certain he'd be able to pinpoint someone solely based on their features. But there were other ways to shake information out of trees.

“No.” Honora was confident in that, at least. Zahaela’s memories lay so temptingly close to the surface, begging her to reach for them to uncover any hidden fragments of knowledge she didn’t already have. But Honora dared not reach for it—not now when she was weak enough she couldn’t be certain Zahaela’s consciousness wouldn’t overtake hers. For now, she put her hopes on Hiram's abilities, which from where she was standing seemed without end.

Hiram's eyes fell to the collar on her throat. He had a key for that...somewhere. He didn't know where, and even if he did, he wasn't sure he wanted to offer it. His gaze then fell to the ring on her finger. One of his eyebrows quirked in interest.
"Well then, we'll do this the old-fashioned way." There were ways to find people in Lorendale. It wasn't always pretty, but it was usually successful. He beckoned for her to come to him. If she was fast enough to grab a hold then she'd have an anchor--him--as the blood around them rose to swallow them up. If she didn't, well, then she'd be swallowed anyway.

Honora didn’t miss the way that Hiram’s eyes fell to the collar, but she did not have the energy or mental space to give it meaning. Honora had only one villain and no room for another. If Hiram could get her to Quinton, then he was more of an ally than she could find anywhere else.
When he beckoned her, Honora readily came forward. She held on to him and let the dark and cold of the blood swallow them both.
