The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
No more stealing was a more difficult 'promise' than she had expected. Dresmond simply wasn't the place for fair trade and shopping. All thanks to the Eldouir and what they had turned this place into. She missed the caravans, and she missed the woman who had taken care of her as if she was her own daughter. Ember noticed that Aydin was growing more restless and annoyed. She didn't care who she rubbed the wrong way anymore, and if any of those coward Eldouirs had dared to show their face the last couple of days, she would have spat at them. There was no joy in living in this hellhole.
She needed new materials for her bow, but had no money to her name to buy steel or let someone forge it into arrowheads, so she would steal some. She knew a hunter that tended to take a nap around this time of day. The hunter was too careless for Dresmond. He didn't even try to make sure his equipment was out of sight while he snored the hours away.
Aydin creeped up on the sleeping man and crouched down, carefully collecting his arrows and some of the arrowheads he had laying around.
But when she got up again and walked away from the man, a familiar face greeted her. Eirwen.
"Oh, you again", she said. Ember nervously jumped around and bounced in Aydin's shoe.

Yule was who noticed them first head bobbing as he let Eirwen know, 'Eir who is that? Is that that sneaky thief?'
Eirwen swivled her head (her braided ponytail snapping behind her just as sharply) toward where Yule was looking, "This little bitch," Eirwen scoffed as if she had been greatly insulted, "Was I not fair last time with her?"
Eirwen stalked quietly over to @aydin and Ember standing there with her arms crossed, she smirked with the others sour greeting mocking her back, "oH its YoU, yup its me friend, what are you doing?"
Eirwen repeat her, making fun of her, and Aydin squinted. "Making ends meet, like other Dresmondi", she said firmly. "I suppose you've forgotten what that's like." The Eldouir probably gave this girl enough food, and enough supplies to get through the day.
Ember was very nervous and sensed that this was not going to end as well as the last time. This time, Aydin was sure to lose some fingers.

Eirwen kept her vindictive smirk despite the cold slapping accusation hurled at her, "such a wicked thing to say friend, what a more wicked way to repay my leanacy from last time," Eirwen cracked back, "do you remember what I told you would happen last time what I would do if I found out you were stealing?"
Eirwen's tone didn't register as threatening to Aydin, which wasn't a good thing. The Dresmondi chuckled lightly. "Yeah but if you were serious about that, you would've just done then and there, right?"
But the cold air around them told her the opposite. Oh shit. Eirwen was actually serious. Ember, nervous as ever, shuffled around on the cold sand and looked up at Aydin, who didn't know what to do either. "C'mon, Eirwen", she just nervously said.

All that usual bubbly nature was peaking on one side of Eirwen while on the other side the frail wall of sanity the Dresmondi had remaining was buckling and both severe manic moods were going to clash. Their breaths could be seen, the cold never bothered her much anyway....her smile was just the picture of joy.
"Do I look like a fucking joke to you Aydin?" Eirwen asked just as cold and just as happy as ever. Blood wasn't in the air but she could smell it (not really; she'd just spilled enough to have the muscle memory for it). She craved it.
Aydin had made a big mistake. Eirwen hadn't been kidding last time, and while she should have known that, she had thought, somehow, that she herself had been intimidating last time, and that Eirwen had just tried to save face by threatening her. But that wasn't the case at all, apparently, and Eirwen had been serious about the threat.
Aydin had expected Yule to use his magic on Her, so she didn't see the kick coming. It hit her, hard, and the young Dresmondi fell to the ground. She tasted blood in her mouth and suddenly heard Ember squeak.
"No, please", she managed to say. "Punish me but not Ember. He's always telling me not to steal." She knew that Ember would vanish too if she died, but maybe it was pride of something. She wanted that she died, and not that she'd die after Ember. He didn't deserve it.
The Dresmondi knew fighting back wouldn't work anymore, and she told Ember mentally to just bury himself in the sand so he didn't have to see it all.

Other Dresmondi were gathering at a somewhat safe distance as the scene between Eirwen and Aydin progressed. Eirwen didn't call Yule off of Ember but she wasn't going to let him freeze the little thing either, she stalked Aydin with eyes burning in a fury.
"You have insulted me Aydin!" Eirwen shouted and then she'd kick Aydin at her feet pulling from behind her back a large jagged hunting knife, "last time it would have been fingers but a thief don't deserve a hand...or maybe eyes..," Eirwen cackled. Another Dresmondi soldier approached, "Eirwen what are you doing?"
He put himself between Aydin and Eirwen hand stretched trying to keep Eirwen back, the air around them was cold enough to snow covering the ground in a light dust.
"She stole! Again after I kindly warned her," Eirwen hissed boring holes through the soldier, "you need to stand down," he ordered as if he somehow out ranked Eirwen. The twisted girl snapped rageful eyes at him but her knife lowered, "you're right," Eirwen seemed suddenly calm.
"Yule prepare to deal with this insubordination," she ordered Yule, the black rooster did as she asked. The soldier stepped toward Eirwen, "Thank you," were his last words as Eirwen stuck the man once...twice..three...4...5...6..7...8 times in his gut with her knife before stepping back and kicking the man down. He was dead before he hit the ground his dyr to slow to react let out a sound of pain before following its human. Eirwen then pulled three vials of water from her belt loop and shattered them on the cold ground.
Yule froze the water and from it made hundreds of little shards of ice, 'kill them,' Eirwen silently demanded of Yule. The shards fired out striking out at the lookie looks: ice shards tore through throats and chests indiscriminately. Eirwen had snapped. Even the man who had been stolen from was killed, dyr'less Dresmondi dropped as they tried to flee.
Eirwen had turned her attention back to Aydin smiling, "Yule...do it," and Yule did it...he began to freeze Ember under his rough talons..

Of course it quickly became a scene for other Dresmondi to be disaster tourists. Aydin didn't — couldn't — focus on it. She spit out a tooth and blood and looked back at Yule and Ember. In the meantime, Eirwen killed the soldier that had stood between her and Aydin, and Yule turned water quickly into ice shards that would hurt and kill the Dresmondi around them.
"NO!" Aydin screamed when Eirwen gave Yule the order to start freezing Ember. His little eyelids slowly closed and it wasn't hard for Aydin to imagine the pain he was going through. "No", she sobbed, feeling a piece of her soul leave her body.
Unless Eirwen had other plans, Aydin would reach for the knife on her belt and would attempt to slice her own throat. She wanted to die together with Ember, not after he was truly gone. She would be a husk, and she would be useless. If Eirwen intercepted, though, she could kill Aydin herself.

Eirwen saw what Aydin was doing and she would step to kick Aydin again in the face, "No you watch...," she'd follow up by standing on the woman's arm holding the blade and mocking her, "..No...NoOoO..you watch...you watch what YOU did, I want you to feel the guilt litte girly," and Eirwen watched as Yule delivered the last of what he needed to freeze Ember.
Aydin wasn't even listening to Eirwen anymore. All she did was watch Ember, trying to crawl forward to push Yuke but she couldn't move, she could barely breathe. All of a sudden, a sharp, unpleasant pain rose in her chest. It felt like a knife, made of ice, was cutting through her soul. She could feel Ember and her soul separating and the feeling was unbearable. "NOOO!" she cried out, the loudest scream she had even screamed. Ember was freezing and the life was seeping out of him. Aydin felt herself start to lose connection to the world, everything was becoming a blur, her emotions and brain starting to fail and disappear. By the time Ember was dead, Aydin was a husk. She was nothing. She was nobody. She was as good as dead.

Eirwen didn't stop Yule until she saw the lifeless husk of Aydin stop squirming.
The cold little blizzard caused by Yule then stopped Eirwen smirked, "Time to work chicken," she barked as Yule flew to her shoulder. Eirwen began to drag bodies.
