[ONESHOT]
A little over two months ago, Ibrahim had received a letter from lady Gunne Cortell, who was his wife's niece. When the servant had brought him the letter, he had dismissed the man with a wave of his hand and had read the letter in great detail. His expression had hardened the mode he read, and once he had out down his reading glasses, he had punched the bridge of his big nose. Although Gunne had been smart, and she had used metaphors for what she meant, he couldn't take any risks, so Ibrahim had carefully held the letter in the flame of the candle he had used to read it, before tossing it in the fireplace to let it burn to ash.
The Morrigans weren't what they used to be. It appeared that all but Gunne had forgotten about who the enemy was to this kingdom. It wasn't Cambria, it wasn't Dresmond and the Eldouir. It was the Rainecourt family. Julius had slaughtered the Morrigan's parents, uncles and aunts, and none of them were fighting against the crown anymore. Now that Gunne was out of the picture - he wondered what had happened to her, but she had written not to look for her - it was his turn to take the reins.
For a good twenty-five years or so, the Bashar had secluded themselves from anything and everyone who had something to do with Skia. They had become self-sufficient and they had been marrying the families that lived near their estate, who had also fled the changes that the Rainecourts had made to the kingdom. They would no longer be able to continue to live like that. Ibrahim would have to get together his family to discuss their next moves. He had been planning to take over already, years before this letter, but now it was officially the Bashar's time to rejoin society, which they had gradually done over the last few years already, but now they needed to be even more present in day-to-day life.
Ibrahim knew they wouldn't be able to do that from Lakeview Keep. The travelling time from Lakeview Keep to Skia was just too much to be comfortable. They needed a second estate, one closer to Skia. A base of operations, if you will.
So he got in touch with an old friend, who could help him find a nice manor for his family to partially spend their lives. Soon, they would meet there, and he would discuss what he expected of them. He wouldn't move the family to Gorgon Manor. He needed them to stay live in Lakeview Keep, but they could use the Manor to live while they were in the city, as long they returned to Lakeview Keep often enough.
The manor was already furnished and decorated, but he would have his servants purchase more to make the manor feel like a Bashar estate. There would be some practice dummies in the courtyard, but not enough to raise suspicion. There would be a wine cellar and an indoor greenhouse/tropical garden, and there would be plenty of beds for the family to choose from.
The deal was sealed with whiskey and a cigar, but once his friend and the man he had bought the estate from left, Ibrahim had gone to bed. He wanted it to be morning already, so he could return to his wife and children at Lakeview Keep.
