[ Made for Akagi Llewellyn ]
Alys had left the palace, the estate that once held their whole family was on the market, and she needed to collect a few things from the estate. Yet she remained frozen outside of it, Atlas and Adda running through the front yard laughing about their old home... about if their toys were still inside. The cloak was still pulled over head as she stared up at the dark stone of it, and the way her chest had a growing numbness in it had her afraid. She had never been so afraid, even out on the ocean all those years ago. Afraid of what the inside of the house might remind her of. A year... yet she couldn't go in.
Instead she sent the children inside to collect what they wanted, for whatever might be left. And then asked one of the few that worked there for two things. "There is a metal light in our-," her words died. There was no 'our' anymore, but there once had been. She swallowed before directing them to where it was, and then directed them to Logan's side of the bedroom to grab one more thing. His sword, the one long before the one that blazed red had existed. When they had brought the items out, she couldn't look at them quite yet but had them delivered to her office. A place where they could be held safely.
While her and the children stopped in to her family, and then to their place where they'd be staying for a few days, Hadrian's. Nothing long, she had told herself, nothing that would have her disappearance noticed. She had been hiding so often lately she wasn't even sure if others knew she lived besides seeing her slip from her office from time to time. Living as a shadow. As Cassian had directed her to keep silent and grow.
But when she arrived, it'd only be her and the children. The two excited as they had often visited with Logan, and knew the place well. To Alys, it was all new. Hadrian wouldn't arrive for another day or so, which left her sitting in a foreign guest room alone. At first she tried to sleep, had tossed and turn, had even paced to try and expel the energy. But it wasn't until she pressed her forehead to the cool window and shoved her hands into her pockets when she remembered... A key that had been offered to her, a place to escape. Especially when she felt entirely too close to a life that didn't even seem real anymore. She didn't feel she belonged where she had once been...
Alys tore the key from where it rested and went to the closet door, using it for the first time and hesitating once she opened it and stared at the other side she had been shown once before. Akagi's private, secret room. One he offered her when she needed to get away. Hideaway. She left the door cracked to the room, before she placed the key back within her pocket and entered the room. Books lined the walls, all Arynnite, all new. She glanced around, not spotting the King before she found a book that looked well loved and curled up in a soft chair and opened it. Reading slowly through a book, distracting herself. Forgetting how destroyed her face and body had become to what it once was, forgetting how easily she had been cast aside again and again... and lost herself in words of enchantments that she could barely understand herself.
