[ ONE SHOT ]
How long had it been? It was impossible for Logan to know. There had been so much time he'd spent unconscious and even being able to tell the time of day from where he was being kept had been challenging. What did they want from him? It took him a long time to figure it out, or at least to guess, but even that thought seemed so far away like he couldn't quite remember.
He wandered through the woods but couldn't remember how he'd got there. Had he escaped? Had they let him go? Memories were coming in flashes but he was struggling to put them together. He had almost died, several times since his capture, and part of him had wanted to let go, to let himself die. But there was one voice that lead him through the darkness. Alys. It had always been Alys. Ever since they had met his life had changed dramatically and he wouldn't take back a single moment of it. Alys.
He felt weak, exhausted, thirsty, hungry. How long had been walking? He was not the man he'd been before. The strong and physically capable military man felt weak. So weak. Muscles unused for so long and experiments done to him. He winced at the flashes of memories of those experiments, fear flooding his system as he looked around the trees, suddenly afraid that he was being followed. He had to get home before they could find him again.
Home. Alys. Twins. What were their names? He tried to remember.
He pushed onward through his exhaustion and by some miracle he eventually found himself standing in front of their home, the one he'd shared with Alys and their children. He saw a memory of a gift he'd given her, spots of lights dancing on the walls. He was home. Tears pricked at his eyes as he approached the door and stepped inside, glad to find it unlocked at least.
However, when he stepped inside he felt...confused. The house had a musty smell as if dust had settled for too long and no one had been inside for a while. Most of the large pieces of furniture still remained but they were all covered in sheets where dust had already begun to collect. How long had the house been like this? How long had he been gone? Where was his family?
"Alys?" he tried to call out but his weakened voice croaked out the raspy sound and he tried again. "Alys?" with slightly more volume. But even in his confused state he knew that no one was in this house and they hadn't been for a while. Where were they? He had to find them.
