The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

It wasn't something he had expected. Sure, societies standards said to wait until marriage but he hadn't pegged Tallis for someone to follow such arbitrary rules. Perhaps he was wrong about her in that way, or maybe it had less to do with that and more to do with opportunity. He wasn't sure just yet.
His hands didn't soften on her hips but he did pause his kisses in order to look down at her. There was something primal in his sudden desire to be the first to know her like this but he truly did want to know her more than just her body and he was willing to show her that, even if it mean dealing with his current arousal on his own.
His voice was a mixture of darkness, hunger, but also clarity of mind as he spoke. "Should I stop, Tallis?" he asked, something about his tone almost promising that she wouldn't regret her time with him. Or so he believed.

Tallis’s breath did not hitch. Her blood did not race nor did her cheeks flush. What she found in Cezar was not desire but comfort; she felt curiosity, not craving. But the curiosity was enough to entice her. She shook her head slowly before hesitantly rising on her toes to kiss him.

It was all the answer he needed and he kissed her back. His hands started to roam along her body, feeling hints of the curves that were hidden by her clothes. He bent slightly to scoop her up unless she stopped him, his hands under her thighs as he would move her legs around his waist and step her back into the nearest wall. His lips moved from hers to press sensual kisses along her jaw and down her neck.

Tallis let his hands roam. She leaned into his touch, breath starting to quicken on its own accord. It wasn’t as if she felt nothing as he lifted her easily and pressed her against the wall. Her body responded as it ought to, awakening to his touch, biology taking over in a way that was out of sync with her mind. She sighed, holding firmly to his waist with her legs, hands starting to explore him as he did her.

Body over mind. Cezar wasn't going to overthink any of this. His desire for her was real and he'd damn anyone who claimed impropriety or anything of the sort. All he wanted in this moment was Tallis. For him, the spark felt instant. Their families could make all sorts of wishes for what they hoped would be between them but this kind of chemistry couldn't be faked. Drawn to her like a moth to a flame, his hips pressed against her, arousal evident between her legs as they were wrapped around his waist.
A hand moved to curl into the back of her hair and his lips hovered over hers, barely brushing against her as he whispered, tone full of desire. "You're so beautiful, Tallis. I want you..." he said before kissing her again, his tongue moving to glide over her lower lip before attempting to press into her sweet mouth.

Tallis’s heartbeat remained steady. She went through the motions, feeling as if her body were one other than her own. The closeness wasn’t unpleasant. The novelty of it was satisfying, though there was something else about it that Tallis couldn’t quite put her finger on. It was like hearing the last note of a song that resolved an unfinished cord. Something just…clicked.
“I want you.”
Maybe that’s what this was?
Tallis kissed him back, starting to undo the buttons of his shirt with hesitant curiosity, as if that were all the answer he needed.

Cezar did what he could to help once she started to work on his shirt and together it was soon shrugged off and lying on the ground, not even thinking about the scorpion mark on his ribs now being visible. His hands gripped her body with lustful need and sensual desire. He had half a mind to just rip her dress right off of her but he thought better of it and instead his hand worked under her skirt and up her thigh.

Cezar’s hand would slide up her thigh, and Tallis would neither tremble or gasp. She felt the contours of his arms, of his chest, as if searching for the lustful fire he so clearly felt. It was in this pursuit that Tallis felt down his chest…and her fingers came to the outline of the brand on his ribs. Tallis’s hand flew to his arm and tightened, as if he might run. Her eyes found his, her fingers tracing the outline of the scar over and over again.
“You…” Tallis murmured, stunned as her eyes found his.

Things had been progressing well, or so he thought, when she suddenly grabbed tightly hold of him and the look in her eyes changed. He furrowed his brow in confusion, unsure of what was happening or what was going through her head. "I...what?" he asked as he shifted to lower her gently back to the ground. Clearly something had halted the flow of the heated moment they were having and he didn't want things to get more awkward than the direction he assumed they were currently heading.

Tallis hardly heard him. With the force and muscle of a woman who had spent her days working on the ranch, Tallis pulled, tearing buttons and fabric to expose the brand on his side. Once she saw it, tears started to drop down her cheeks as she furiously pulled at her own clothing with no care for propriety or avoidance of nakedness. With her shirt open and an arm over her chest, Tallis exposed the brand on her own ribs as lighting cracked through the sky. In the flash of light from the storm he’d see the scorpion brand illuminated there in detail.

And suddenly she was furiously ripping off his shirt. Cezar was more than confused. What the heck was happening and why was there a different feel to this kind of urgency. With his shirt completely removed she then started to work on her top and he wasn't sure if he ought to help or not. Was this leading to some kind of hot and heavy sexual encounter or something else? It was hard to read her.
But once her shirt was removed she turned to show him something and in that brief flash of light he caught it, clear as day, a matching mark. He blinked, staring, confused for a moment before he moved towards her, crouching to get a better view of it. His fingers gently brushed over it. It was exactly the same as his, nothing differing.
From his still crouched position he looked up at her. "I- I don't understand. Tallis- What is this?"

It was now that Tallis shivered under his touch, in a way she hadn’t before. It was a different kind of thrill. Of recognition. Of sameness. She searched his face, hand laying against his cheek as a realization dawned on her—one that was heartbreaking and thrilling all at once.

Cezar's brow furrowed, confused at her question, his gaze searching hers. He didn't understand what was happening and it made him feel like a fool, like he was missing something blatantly obvious. "What do you mean? I- I'm Baron Cezar Morand..."
What more could she possibly mean. How could he not know 'who he was'. He was just Cezar. He'd been himself for his whole life. What did this mark mean and why was it so significant to Tallis?

“No—” Tallis murmured, running her fingers across the brand, “You’re more.” She dropped the arm covering her chest, eyes still fixed on Cezar as she reached behind her to grab the nearest object she could find—a shovel leaning against the stable door she’d pressed herself against. Holding it before her, the metal scoop of the shovel started to rapidly rust and disintegrate as the wooden shaft started to decay in her hand. Soon the whole thing crumbled to the ground, becoming nothing but dust.
“Show me,” Tallis commanded as lightning cracked across thy sky.

Cezar watched with confusion but also interested as she reached for a shovel. What was she gonna do with that? He wondered if he ought to feel threatened. Instead he watched as the shovel started to disintegrate. She was gifted and based on her request, somehow she knew that he was too. He stared at her for a long moment, the lighting causing their eyes to light up in flashes.
He then crouched down and placed his hand over the pile of dust that had once been a shovel. Before their eyes it seemed that time almost seemed to rewind as the shovel came back, stitching itself back together, the dust particles become solid once more until he held it in his hands looking the same as it had before she'd picked it up.
He didn't say anything right away, only stared at her thoughtfully before finding the words. "You knew I was gifted because of this?" he asked, motioning to the mark on his skin.
