The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Ravi had waited until the next day to speak with his Uncle Ibrahim about his little outburst the evening before, but only to Uncle because Paris hadn't warranted an apology he had been out of line. Ibrahim wasn't really Ravi's Uncle but a second cousin still the broken young man worshipped the ground Uncle Ibrahim walked on, Ravi had only ever sought the acceptance of his Uncle since his brain had been "cursed"...Goddess if they only knew the truth that Ravi was fucked up long before his sisters fallen false accusations and execution.
'you sound so guilty Ravi, you think about what you did to me a lot'
Ravi ignored her and knocked upon his Uncles office door, "Uncle Ibrahim, it's Ravi, do you have a moment?"
'ravi...ravi...lied and killed little Navi..dirty dirty lying ravi'
Alive or dead Navi was a vindictive little bitch, truthfully guilt didn't eat at him over his twins unnecessary death but the guilt of getting caught for the broken man he was did. As he waited for Uncle to allow him entrance the voices grew quiet in his head but the sound of a harsh cold wind filled his head...

Ibrahim had not been happy after the family meeting, not at all. Not only had his son been disrespectful, his niece had also taken a jab at his daughter, and then as if all of that hadn't been bad enough, Marcus' freak of a son had decided to let his cursed mouth - literally and figuratively speaking - say whatever his even more cursed brain had decided to share with the group.
After the meeting, he had gone to his office to decompress. His family shared his ambition to take control of the crown, but if they were going to behave like this, it would never work. Paris Bashar needed a job, and soon, but Ibrahim would speak with his son some other time. He was not in the mood to deal with his femininity today. It would make Ibrahim say things he might regret later — not that he'd ever admit, to himself or others, that he ever regretted anything.
A knock at the door caused him to leave the privacy of his thoughts. There was the devil again. Ravi's voice was easily recognizable to the man.
"Ravi, come in", he said emotionlessly, which was just his normal state of being. He never seemed excited or disappointed to see someone.
As soon as Ravi entered the room, Ibrahim would gesture at the chair opposite from him and his desk.
Ravi entered promptly, a respectful bow to his Uncle before taking the seat offered. It was all mostly quiet in his head for now, "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice Uncle," he was forcing eye contact with Ibrahim despite how unnatural it felt to do so Ravi had always struggled to make eye contact with anyone as the cursed voices in his head seemingly taunted him when he did, "I want to start by apologizing for my outburst toward Paris during the family meeting, it was uncalled for but I can't tolerate disrepect toward the head of this family...toward you...," they would often call Ravi a 'kiss ass' but Ravi just called them soft heathens in return, Paris was as soft as baby shit and Ravi meant that in every term of disrespect yet he'd never tell Paris this nor Uncle or really anyone...
'but you can't keep it from us Ravi'
"nor does it make you a liar dear nephew, Paris is the softest Bashar. Softer than most of the Bashar women."

Ibrahim gave no indication of having heard what Ravi had said, thanking him, but he had in fact heard it, he simply chose not to acknowledge it. If you had to day 'no worries' or 'you're welcome' all day, you'd be surprised how quickly people lose respect for you because you seem too approachable.
Eventually Ibrahim looked at Ravi and leaned back a bit in his chair. "You've always been more respectful towards me than Paris. You understand leadership, authority and power. Although I did call you out for your outburst during the meeting, you're here on your own accord, to apologise. I have not heard of or seen Paris since."
The man got up from the chair and walked around the desk, stopping behind Ravi's chair. He placed his hands on the man's shoulders and squeezed softly.
"You are forgiven, Ravi. You're not to blame for that horrible curse."
He would stand behind Ravi for another moment before returning to his chair. "What do you make of Paris?"
The thick scar on the back of his skull had the hairs standing at the mentioning of his 'curse' to which Navi in Ravi's head retorted.
'hey it isn't my fault either! it was that fuckin horse' little Navi in his head pouted in seething rage.
Ravi pressed on ignoring Navi ranting and Uncle Bashar sitting in Uncle Ibrahim's seat, "Thank you Uncle, I appreciate that you notice my values within the family," Ravi straightened up at the compliments which made the voices mock him, "As far as Paris goes," he wanted to call Paris out honestly but what would be the outcome of talking bad about Uncle Ibrahim's son?
"I think in time he will become a fine young man, we all clearly need work Uncle but I think you've raised and trained a promising family," Ravi paused..as the voices collectively screamed in the man's head:

Ibrahim leaned back and examiner Ravi's face as he spoke about Paris.
"I can sense that you're being polite and holding back, but that's okay. I can read between the lines, and I agree. Paris needs work, in more than one sense of the word. He also literally needs work. He's forgetting what it is like to get off his ass and do something productive."
Ibrahim stood and walked to the window to look outside.
"How is your training going, and how are the horses?" he asked as he looked over lake Bashar.
Ravi had been being polite and he both admired and feared Uncle Ibrahim's ability to read him, it made him wonder how much did Uncle really know about his condition?
"I can't offer much as far as jobs, I mean the horse business comes with a great deal of hands on work if you think Paris would be up for it I could muster up a few deals for him to handle on his own accord," Ravi offered as he followed every movement of his Uncle, "Whatever I can do of course," Ravi adjusted himself in his seat when the questions kept coming, "I've bonded very well with my horse, Dart, I've been working on calvary strategies for the last season and I believe I've developed a technique or two myself...the Bashar horses literally the finest, we have seven pureblood lines that have produced a crop of fine war horses," Ravi was beaming and for a moment the voices and images ceased entirely.
"I'd like to expand my search for more Pureblood lines, and visit the library in Skia," he rubbed his hands together nervously, "purely for knowledge and you know I've never left Lakeview Keep...," he paused.

"Oh, don't worry about that. Paris isn't fit to work with horses. We all know he wouldn't want to get his precious nails dirty."
The man listened to Ravi talk about the horses and the bond he had formed with them. Everything sounded good, until Ravi mentioned wanting to visit the library in Skia. Ravi was too unpredictable to go to the big city. Who knew what that curse would have him do, and Ibrahim did not want to see the family's reputation in shambles because of a cursed family member. They would have to tell people about the curse and his sister, which was not public knowledge. Nobody knew the family had executed Navi.
"I will go with you", Ibrahim said. "You've also never been to the new manor, so I think it's best I accompany you and help you settle into Gorgon Manor." He paused to see if there would be a reaction. "When would you like to leave?"
A new level of excitement coursed through Ravi and a kind smile spread across his face as the voices in his head seemed to all chatter at once about the same thing: leaving a home they've never left. While it was Chaotic in his head Ravi sat up straight in his chair, "I totally understand Uncle and I will of course follow your every command," Ravi was lit up like a latern buzzing with excitement, "Give me a day to tie up any affairs I have here at home, set a schedule for my second at the ranch to follow and I'll be ready...of course that is if you're ready as well..."

Ibrahim nodded, content about the fact that Ravi was understanding and excited to go to Gorgon Manor with him.
"I have an event to attend to in a few days, but after that evening, I'm ready to travel with you", he said. He wanted to drop by Cam Pyetr's event before leaving for Skia. Ravi would have to hold his excitement for a couple more days.
"Let us gather in the salon in four days, at six in the morning. Then we will get the horses and travel to the city." The journey from Lakeview Keep to Gorgon Manor and Skia was one and a half day on horseback (according to the tile-map), so they would have to be prepared for a night in the road, or sleep in a tavern.
"Is there anything else?" he then asked. If not, they could conclude this meeting.
Ravi was more than excited, he was thrilled which for once kept those pesky voices out of his head!
"No Uncle, nothing further all items on my agenda have been addressed," Ravi stood and at his full height the young man was quite large, intimidating to some, "I will begin sorting my affairs here and preparing for our trip," then with a respectful bow Ravi left.
