The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

[ Made for @nithya ]
Cassian has been convinced. The first suggestion had been cleverly sidestepped in the conversation, the king’s dislike of the suggestion unapparent yet very present. Two other nobles had come to him with the same suggestion, however, and he had concluded that either some of the greatest minds in his kingdom were thinking alike, or that this was a plot. Whatever the case, after much private consideration he had decided to go for it.
Let the planning begin.
Cassian had already reached out to Hadrian Usher with a general review of what this would look like and a command to make a plan for the military that would attend. Next, he needed a political take. Kennet found herself indisposed, flooded with suitors as she was—a result of her mother’s persistence—and thus she sent a trusted royal courtier in her stead.
Nithya would be welcomed into the king’a study by a guard, a place she was not unfamiliar with, and she would find the king at his desk pouring over parchment.
Cassian looked up.
“You’re timely.” It was both a statement and a compliment. Clearly timeliness was something he appreciated. “Come, sit. This plan of mine will benefit with collaboration.”
It had been a while since Cassian had summoned her, but Nithya was still familiar with the corridors leading to his study and the process of greeting the guards and stating your business with the king. The young woman had been sent by Kennet and was more than ready to do her duty, working for Cassian and Kennet and providing what they needed from her.
The guard at his room greeted her, and she curtsied before he led her inside. The king was behind his desk, and Nithya dipped slightly in respect before taking a few steps closer to his desk, nearly folding her hand together in front of her. She was indeed timely. She didn't dream of making the king wait.
He invited her to sit, which she did. "Of course, your majesty. Is this a plan I should bring to lady Caern, or do you require my personal collaboration?"

Cassian was almost finished with what he was about.
“Lady Caern is aware of it.” He said, eyes still on the parchment. He finished reading, plucked up his seal, pressed it into ink, and then made his mark on the page before setting it to the side, lifting his full attention to the woman before him.
“She assured me that your personal collaboration would be invaluable.” He paused, not an invitation to speak but giving them both a minute to adjust.
“I have noblemen demanding a tour. There are many who have only ever heard the rumors of what lies beyond our mountain wall. They wish to see Cambria and Coheed for themselves, to look upon this new city. There was talk of Lorendale, too, but I dare not take my citizens there at this time.” Whether she knew much about the state of Lorendale or not, that simple sentence would be enough to clue her in on the fact that things weren’t as under control there as they were here.
“My specific task for you is the stewardship aspect of the journey. I want you to keep a close eye and open ear on the participants. You will attend me on this tour, keeping close, giving me your insider observations on its effectiveness and our nobles.”
It was always a compliment to hear that Kennet recommended her, or assured someone that Nityha would be a valuable asset to a plan or idea. The woman didn't say anything, but nodded slightly. She had learned over her last encounters with Cassian that saying little went a long way, and that unnecessarily additions to a conversation weren't something that he found interesting.
Instead, after that nod, she just remained silent and listened to what he told her about the tour. She wasn't surprised that noblemen wanted to see Coheed and Cambria, but of course she had her own opinions that she wouldn't share because they didn't benefit the plan. It was easy for noblemen to demand to see other kingdoms, while soldiers had to be stationed there and sometimes risk their lives. These noblemen were lucky that Nevermere had many alliances, which allowed them to explore the kingdoms without much threat to their lives.
She didn't know everything that had happened in Lorendale, but she had heard talk about Eldouir from the courtiers, and could understand why Cassian didn't want to take his people to Lorendale.
Nithya nodded politely. "Very well, your majesty. Are you expecting trouble from certain participants?" If that was the case, she would pay even closer attention to them.

Cassian liked her silence. It wasn’t a dumb one, but clearly attentive. There was an intelligence to her gaze that he thought could be a very useful thing indeed.
Her question was a good one. He hesitated, carefully considering his answer, before stating,
“No.” Of course he heard rumors and knew insider information, but a weighted report wasn’t something he wanted. “Keep a close eye on everyone.” Not even only the nobles. If there was anything of interest to be learned, it was his hope that Nithiya would learn it.
The king took a moment before responding, which led Nityha to believe some participants were less trustworthy than others, but she would act on his word and not her suspicions. He replied that he wasn't expecting trouble, so she nodded.
"I most certainly will, your majesty", she then said. "Is there a list of participants, or are we still in the very early stages of the plan?" If there was a list, she would start to dig already to find information on the nobles so she knew who they would be dealing with. Perhaps she could ask Kennet if she could use her spy network to keep an eye on the nobles.

This meeting was meant to be short and sweet. Once Nithya knew what the king expected of her then she could take action to be useful to the kingdom. Simple as that.
At her request, Cassian plucked a slip of paper from his desk and offered it to her.
“You can keep this copy.” She’s find an emasculate cursive print listing those that would be attending him on the tour. If she wanted a head start then so be it.
She dipped her head politely while taking the parchment offered to her by Cassian. "Thank you." She laid the parchment down on her lap and folded her hands on top of it. She would have a look at the names and the details later. Or would seem as if she didn't trust his judgement and his decisions of she were to go over the information on the parchment in front of him, or so she thought.
"Is there anything else I can help you with, your majesty?" Wasting each others time was pointless, and he had given her a task already, so she would see to it that she got as much done as possible, as soon as possible. She was always very much straight to the point and effective. She assumed that he would have her summoned to his office in the near future again to follow up, and she was already curious to hear what information he would share then. Nithya was quite excited to be a part of this tour. She had never been outside of the kingdom before.

This was how Cassian liked to do business. Finished with the exchange, he dismissed her with,
“That will be all for now,” nodding his head politely. With that finished, he moved a stack of parchment before him once more and returned to reading and signing.
After his words, Nithya stood again and curtsied before she would depart from the room. He was already busy reading and signing again, and she had plenty of work ahead of her as well now. She took the lost of names with her and would leave, only to head right to her office again.
