The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

It had been a busy night, and she had noticed that more Desmondi came for a drink ever since Demelza & Oberon joined the tavern and played music for them. The people loved her music and Ona was sure Mel's positive and somewhat flirty vibe definitely helped with that. The hours had went by and the evening had reached the point where the tavern was more calm. Ona and her girls had a little more time for themselves now.
The tavern owner saw one of her girls in the tavern-part if the establishment. Maybe she was waiting for a new client or taking a break, but it didn't matter to Ona. Her girls could take a break if they wanted to. Shouting through the bar would be difficult, so Ona let Obri deliver a telepathic message to Thorn, telling them to tell Lovina to come to the bar for a drink and some chit-chat with Ona.
She loved Lovina as if the young woman was her child. She had found her and Thorn a few years ago, when the two were in bad shape, and had taken them in to help them regain their strength. Lovina was a lovely girl. She knew the girl behind the facade as well, though, and knew Lovina wasn't always as happy as the seemed, so she wanted to talk a bit to see if something was up, or how she was feeling in general.
While she waited for the message to be relied to Lovina, Oma poured two mugs of ale and waited for her friend.

Lovina had been hopping, hopping, hopping for most of the time that the tavern had been opened, it was a bit of a relief when things had calmed down a bit. It gave her more time to focus on the other part of her job. Not that she hadn’t lain with anybody that day—Dresmondi were far too willing to seek escape from the horrors of their current way of living to not buy a few moments of pleasure when the opportunity dangled itself so temptingly in front of them.
As it happened, she had caught the eye of a Dresmondi man with a very heavy looking money purse. She’d sat down for a break, but the thought of the coins in that purse clinking onto her nightstand had her leaning toward him with an inviting smile on her face. The man would see bare shoulders, and enough of her décolletage that he could visualize what lay beneath her clothes. She saw the…interest…in his eyes, but before he could come over to her, Thorn carried Ona’s message to her.
She only hesitated a moment before telling thorn to relay a message back that she’d be there. Money was well and good, sex could be even better, but she not only owed Ona her life, but the woman had become something of a maternal influence that she had very much needed. The man could wait, and if he couldn’t, well…there were other girls in the tavern that would see to his “needs.”So she held up her finger to the man, a signal to wait for her, before she stood up and strode over to where Ona waited for her.
Lovina would sit when she reached Oma, “You wanted to see me, Oma?” She didn’t feel any trepidation at the summons, and appeared quite relaxed as she reached for the ale that Oma had poured.

Obri told her what Thorn had said, and Ona nodded at her dyr. The man seemed to be okay with waiting, and Ona smiled at him while he watched Lovina make her way over to the bar.
"Yes, darling", she said with a wide smile. "Pick your poison and let's catch up for a bit, if your customers can wait." Some girls drank some alcohol while working, others didn't, and both was fine with Ona. "How are you feeling? Nervous about tribute?"

Lovina of course, was more than happy to drink on the job. At first, it had been a crutch so that she would allow herself to share her body in exchange for coin, and in a way, she still used it for that. Now though...well, she found that her tricks were more willing to be with her if she were also drinking. No one liked to drink alone in these parts.
She grabbed an ale and sat near Ona before she drank from her mug. She let it settle in her stomach a moment before she answered, "Some days are better than others," she said a little dully, the cheer she plastered on her face dimmed since there was no one that she needed to charm here, "Tribute though, with the prospect of seeing...them," she swallowed, and took a sip of her drink to ward the memory of the Eldour that had hurt her away, "It's never easy, is it?"
