The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

As soon as Annabeth had the chance she rushed to the palace and informed the guards that she need to speak to Commander Tybalt as soon as possible. They lead her the way. Took every fiber to say that she already know the way but as she no longer staff at the palace she hold her tounge as she made her way. When she got to his office and was announced and the guard lefts. She didn't want to waste time. She was slightly out of breath.
"I know your mother told me to wait to midday and not come to you directly unless it life or death. However, this is to important to wait." Taking a deep breath to catch her breath. "Duke Simon is leaving as soon as possible so it is very possible that he is leaving today. The only people who knows about the paper, is his servant Kelton. Kelton is his Blind aid, and he mentioned King Cassian."

Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.

As soon as it was announced to Tybalt Zane that Annabeth was coming to meet him, the man reached for his sword. In his mind, he imagined that everything had somehow managed to go south, and that he was going to have to cut his way through a load of assassins pursuing her, or something similar. The guards would escort her to the commander, just as she had requested. They would leave the woman, closing the door behind her so that no other voices could hear.
Tybalt could only pray that nobody else had noticed her coming here. He trusted his men to keep their mouths shut, many other servants wouldn't.
He didn't have enough time to ask her about what had happened, before she spoke. Tybalt would listen, his mouth slightly agape as he did so. "Keep your voice down." He would request. Although granted his sensitive ears meant that her words would sound far louder to him than they would to anyone else. "Did he say where he was going?" Cassian would be dealt with next.

When Tybalt ask for her to keep her voice down calming her breathing down, "Sorry." It was gentle but a part of it sounded like she was ready to be told off for the millionth time. All of her life it seems like she just saying sorry for every action that she did. Ready for some form of reaction.
"I carefully asked but the only information that he gave me was if there any information or if I needed him to pass it on to his wife. He wanted me to rally the people, I only told him I do it so he doesn't suspect me of anything. I would never work against the crown." She was trying to be safe. Annabeth really hope that Tybalt sees that she is trying to do the right thing. Even though it is scary for her because she doesn't have the confidence to do so.

Tybalt's mind was already racing, trying to get ahead of Simon Mikaels, whilst simultaneously paying full attention to Annabeth least he miss something of vital importance that the woman might have to say. As far as he could tell, there wasn't exactly much of an actual emergency or threat to their security, at least not an immediate one.
Still she worried about appearing disloyal. "I know you wouldn't." Tybalt assured with a wave of the hand to banish her worries. "What did he mean by rally the people? He means a coup?" It didn't seem impossible. Simon had already displayed a complete and utter disregard both for their laws, and the authority of the crown. It wasn't exactly a stretch to imagine that he'd be willing to try something like that. The commander's stomach turned in disgust at the mere thought of such treachery.

When Tybalt waved his hands a part of her flinched, she was raised a Porter and she knew it had been years since she had been hit by one it was still a part of her. However, when he said that he knew she wouldn't her eyes soften. "I don't think the Duke will do something so reckless himself but he made his view on the Queen's rulership clear. He made it clear that he views King Cassian as a better ruler for Lorendale and that he plans to talk to him when he returns." Annabeth takes a deep breath
"He asked me to gather the names of in his words "those who feel similar."To be some sort of intermediary. So it is possible looking for more Anti-gifted and..." Annabeth takes a deep breath she can't believe she is saying this "people who believe the Queen doing a poor job." She looked at Tybalt for a moment. "when I was made aware of this it I felt like he doesn't care that his action might bring a war to the streets of Lorendale."

Tybalt clasped his hands together, deep in thought. The commander found himself with so much to think about that he was struggling to make sense of it all. He didn't like to think of Cassian being implicated, even remotely, in this whole affair. "That I would very much suggest that you keep to yourself. If king Cassian is involved, even remotely in any of this, I'll be the one to investigate it. It's too dangerous otherwise." Nevermerians were sneaky, and the king would be protected and surveilled, by his witches. Annabeth was no match for any of that.
Annabeth's next words confirmed the worst of his fears. If only because he knew that there were so many out there who shared that vision of the kingdom. "It could well be civil war." The man answered her statement. There would be some, such as the Kanes, who would side with Iliana come what may. Others wouldn't share such a feeling of obligation or loyalty. "Would you be willing to continue with this mission?"

Listening to Tybalt as she stood lost in thought, she was clearly over her head. Was she the right person for this? Is she safe in all that is happening? what if she is caught? Keeping her voice soft, "That's why I came straight to you, instead of waiting until midday in the market." Annabeth didn't want anyone to hear who didn't need to be involved, they didn't need gossip, this sort of gossip can ruin the crown.
When Tybalt mentioned that it could be a civil war Annabeth closed her eyes, even though she would help wherever possible she wasn't ready, nor does she want a war to happen. Focusing on her breathing, remember not to show emotion. However, when Tybalt if she is willing to carry on this mission, a part of her that she wished she kept her ring that she used to give her a boost of confidence.
Looking down as she thought, she respected Tybalt and she feels like she can be more honest with him then with Helena or Scout. She knew Tybalt longer then she knew Scout and Helena, well she scares her. "Honestly, I am scared that I will mess everything up. I am not this confident woman people want me to be and even though I want to be confident, but i don't know how to be confident, I am worried that my niceness and heart will get me into stuff that even you can't get me out of. I want to help, but I really need to work on my confidence and ability to stand up for myself first." In a way, she was basically asking for help to be the right person for the job.
Annabeth takes a deep breath. "However, i know that i need to server Lorendale, so if this is what you wish of m Commander, then tell me what to do then I do my best to do what is needed."

The response was very typically Annabeth; full of doubt and without much of an answer of her own. Instead, she seemed to put the responsibility for the decision back into his hands. That wasn't something which he was terribly comfortable with right now. Not given Annabeth's status and lack of real connection to his family outside the fact that she was the sister of his niece's deceased husband.
"It isn't so much a question of what I want you to do, as what you feel capable of." The commander decided to try and explain all the same. "I don't wish to put you in any more danger than you are comfortable with, especially if you don't feel up for the task. There is no point embarking on a mission which is destined to fail." Annabeth wasn't one of his men. She wasn't even a soldier, and to the best of Tybalt's knowledge had no real combat training or military experience. Her connection to the Kane family was a loose one at best. In short, there were a great many reasons for her not to be getting too involved with this conspiracy.
On the other hand, somehow, she had managed to achieve more than anybody else that the commander was aware of. "If you do wish to continue, then it's quite simple. I want you to do as Simon Mikaels asked." An unconventional order, he was aware, but one which made some sense to him, and that he was keen to explain. He didn't want her thinking that the commander of the Royal Legion had lost his marbles now. "We need to know who are enemies are, and how many. They'll likely want to go to ground for a bit, so it might take some time. If you can find them, and gain their trust, then we can nip this rebellion - if that's what it is - in the bud, and make sure there isn't another one."
A thought occurred to the commander, it caused him to look out of the window. "I'll see if I can have some surveillance put on Simon Mikaels, if we can still find him that is, but I'm rather inclined to let him go. We know he's scheming now, the much bigger question is who with and to what degree."

When Tybalt explained that it was her choice, she was a bit shocked, she had always been told what to do. Never really doing anything for her own self. A part of her doesn't know what herself wants because she always did what everybody else wants from her. If Tybalt allows her she would go and sit down in a chair. What does she feel capable of, what does she feel comfortable with?
Annabeth thought for a bit. "Your mother sent me with the gifted Silvana, she can transform into an animal right? maybe she can transform into a fly or something, to keep an eye on him." Thinking a bit more and takes a deep breath. "Locating him, I might have an idea who might be willing. Prince Augustus Rainecourt , when he fired me, i gave him two items a ring of confidence and a Mirror that if you say somebodies name they locate the person and show what they are doing. Unless he gave the Mirror to somebody else in the meantime. I have a feeling that he will deny the Mirror so we possible have to explain the situation to him." Annabeth sounded confident but she looked towards Tybalt to see if he approve as she wants to be helpful. To serve the crown but she never know what she able to do.
"with gathering information, i will be happy to pass on information if I hear any information, however more of a relaxed then a mission. i feel like if I think of this as too much as a mission i will mess it up, but if I do it out of the kindness of my own heart, as it the one thing i know I am good at then it give me more reason because you and your mother showed me more kindness then i deserve. Plus also i am doing it for Astor because I made a promise that i will get back on my feet."

It came as something of a surprise, albeit a welcome one, when Annabeth suggested a plan of action for them to follow.
"I was thinking something like that." Tybalt agreed, moderately impressed by the woman's forethought. He hadn't known about the mirror, certainly it would be impossibly useful to them at a time such as this. However, it wasn't currently in their hands. The command scratched at the stubble under his chin thoughtfully for a few moments. He trusted Augustus Rainecourt, not because he knew the man particularly well, but on account of the fact that Scout trusted him, and he was yet to hear any reports to contradict her account of his character.
There was, however, it would seem a glaring problem that they were about to face. One which Annabeth only seemed to have touched on partly. "Forgive me, I'm not sure how to put this diplomatically..." Tybalt spoke a little bit uncertainly. He would pause briefly, choosing his next words as carefully as he could. "-But if the prince did indeed fire you, and took your belongings-" Tybalt imagined that he must have confiscated them, although he admittedly had nothing to base that assumption on other than it seemed to be the most likely. "Then, isn't he unlikely to trust you again?" Now, of course, Tybalt could probably have demanded the items be handed over in the name of national security, but that would almost certainly put him at odds with the dukes, and raise a ton of red flags and questions which needn't be to begin with.
Tybalt considered the woman's reasonings carefully. "Well, it's good to know that your heart's in the right place." The commander replied earnestly. "Again though, I urge you not to take any unnecessary risks. This is an operation which might well take some time. I have some hope however that Duke Mikaels might well be willing to provide you with a little big of assistance and some suggestions on that front. Once we have one or two of them, hopefully more will soon follow."

There was a soft smile on Annabeth face when Tybalt explain that he was thinking the same thing. However, it soon fade with the topic of the Prince. "A part of me hope because I gave these Items out of my own free will instead of keeping for myself which i could of easily done, however, a part of me knows that the people of Lorendale might never fully trust me again after what I did. But with the threat of a civil war on our hands, we need all the resources we can get. Hopefully in time even though it might take a while he will trust me, or at least put up with me." Prince Augustus has every right to be angry at her for what she did, she fall in the arms of a man who wasn't her husband.
"Sir, i know you want me to keep safe... but i need to help, I want to help." Looking down she know she isn't the most confident woman out there, she doesn't have many skills, "I just don't want to be useless and let everybody down again." Taking a deep breath. A part of her wants Astor here with her telling her what to do, he always know what to say, he was a smart guy. She know what Scout will do, she would take the mission and do it without fail, but she is not Scout and she will never be Scout. However, if Scout did this it will put her in danger, she is too well known.
"If this was to work... I need to learn how to be confident and not doubt my skills. You said this may take a while so possible give me a chance to learn some skills, I know confidence is learnt through experience so maybe small task I can do, little risk to handle to boost it. I know I am not a soldier, i have little training in defence but if there is anything I can do well we do the waiting game." It wasn't a plea but it more a willingness, a spark that wanting to ignite as her blue eyes looked at Tybalt when she stood.

The commander got a parchment out of his drawer. His quill was nearby. He reached for it, going for some ink, the man began to write up a letter. There wasn't much time to lose. If Simon was already on the move, then it was vital that Silvana be sent out as soon as possible. "I'll write to the Duke immediately. With some luck, I might be able to speak with him before the end of the day, and we will be able to get things moving. Of course, that rather assumes that he agrees with this plan." Tybalt wasn't entirely sure what they would do if the Augustus raised some sort of objection. It would definitely throw a stick in their spokes.
"Very well." This was going to be complicated. Still, Tybalt clung to the hope that Augustus Rainecourt was a sensible and practical man, and that he must have wanted what was best for his niece. Tybalt's own reputation, and position, should in theory be enough to convince the duke that he wasn't about to use them for anything nefarious. It was something to be reflected upon later, but certainly not something which could be put off for too long. There was no room for any trickery or time wasting. "I'll go to Augustus Rainecourt. With luck, your presence won't be necessary. I think it's absolutely essential that we keep you away from the palace as much as possible. At least those who are known to be supporters of the queen." That would certainly mean any members of house Kane, and the famous duke himself.
"I'll see what I can do about getting a list of people you might want to try to approach." Unfortunately, it had to be said that Felicity would, or rather should, have been on that list. Whether or not the commander would include his own wife was something that he couldn't be sure whether or not he could bring himself to do so. Somewhere along the line, the man couldn't quite bring himself to even consider that she would involve herself with anything like that. "With luck, Simon Mikaels himself might be able to offer you some help. Assuming that he doesn't try to go deeply underground."

Annabeth in her head keep repeating to herself that she has to do this, for Astor. Some of her know she should do this for herself, but Astor was helping her get back on her feet before his passing. Annabeth knew he wanted to see her finally happy and confident. When Tybalt mentioned best to stay away from the palace, a part of her heart ached slightly. A part of her is slightly worried that with not being able to talk to people like Tybalt her mind will get pulled into believing bad things that the people she will talk to about.
"I possible will need to hire staff who I know for certain are supporters of the Queen. So at least I have at least one person I can talk to who have the same political opinion as me outside. If you have any recommendations I will be happy to have a look." The two staff she has, they are sweet, kind people, just a maid and a cook. However, if she was to keep her head straight she need a friend she can talk to.
"With Simon... he hardly offer me any help, he just send if I need to pass on any information before he is back, to give it to his wife. No, how to go about this. Just that he expects information when he is back, he didn't mention how long he will be away. Nothing. I really need to think about how i am going to go about this..." She is not a solider, she not a recruiter, she not a informative, she is Annabeth. She never gained the skills that will be needed for this sort of thing. "All he kept on saying that because of who i am i go undedected. that nobody will think I would be able to do this sort of thing."

This was something which might take a good deal longer than some might have thought. They were going to have to be delicate, and careful if they didn't want things to blow up in their face. Annabeth seemed to have some idea of just what was involved with the whole thing. Their best hope, and one which the commander was clinging to, was that Simon Mikaels might choose to poke his head out of the sand sooner, or later once things had quietened down a little bit.
"Staff?" Tybalt questioned, he couldn't help but wonder just what exactly she meant by that. Someone to help her it would seem. Naturally, the commander could understand just why it was that she might make such a request. It was a dangerous mission. The few allies that she had, she couldn't keep in contact with as much as she would have liked. The man ran a hand through his hair, thinking the problem through as much as possible. "I'll do what I can. It might be complicated. To put it bluntly, anyone I would trust enough with this - with you - will be known as being loyal to the queen." He hoped that the problem they would face would seem obvious. "I will do what I can to find someone however." He would have to look elsewhere.
The man looked down at some of the documents on his table, before turning out of the window. No doubt Simon Mikaels was well on his way now. They would have to move moderately quickly. "If there is nothing else to report, I suggest we part company now. When you leave, I would ask that you do so discreetly. Take the servant's exit - I don't say this to demean you, but we don't want anyone knowing that you came here." Tybalt turned back to the woman, determined not to finish on a terms such as that. "Remember, do not take any unnecessary risks. If things become complicated or if you are afraid, House Kane will protect you."

Annabeth knew that all the people Tybalt might know would possibly be known supporters of the Queen, yet she had to ask because there was no one else to ask as she couldn't ask Scout. Annabeth wants somebody who helps keep her in check and help pull her away if they feel like things might be getting dangerous. "If you can't don't worry, hopefully, my maid and cook will be able to keep a good enough eye on me." There is a small smile on her face. She trying to be hopeful in all that is happening.
Annabeth take a deep breath as she thought for a moment. "That is everything that i need to tell you." A part of her slightly hurt hearing that it possible best for her to leave through the Servent exit, she only been in the servant quarters a couple of times mostly to pass on messages but aside from those times, she never really had a reason to go down there. However she nodded.
At the last statemem=nt looking at Tybalt "i will try and not take unnecessary risk commander and stay safe." As she stood up she gave him a warm smile and a bow of her head. "Hopefully, I will be able to talk to you soon." she made her way towards the servant quarters and being cerful when leaving the palace making certain nobody sees her/recognise her.
