The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
It had been a long night for the Dresmondi soldier when she entered the Drunken Dyr. She was covered in dirt and mud when she came stomping through the door trying kindly enough to not track it inside. She'd never been inside the Drunken Dyr probably because she wasn't liked, but now? Well the owner as Ishmael had put it was going to be Eirwens partner here soon when construction of the wall would begin! So she was there to bond and meet Ona...but maybe she was looking for more?
'..today was hard,' Yule whispered in Eirwens head to which even Eirwen nodded silently...she was goinf to miss her friends but those kids were a step toward finding the Medallion Ish had said when when they had discovered the kids shed buried at Tribute had never emerged...trial and error...Ish had said.
"Thats why tonight we drink and fuck away our short comings Yule," ahe thought back to him as they sat at he bar.

Ona was working hard and trying to reassure Dresmondi that the tavern was still a safe space for them to hang out, and that Ishmael didn't own the tavern, and that he only had it once a week, and blablabla. Dresmondi were starting to lose their faith in her, which hurt a lot, but luckily a lot of them knew she was only doing what she had to do to survive.
It's them.
Ona looked up from the bar, at the door, when Obri spoke to her. Shit. It was her future partner. Something Ona wasn't looking forward to at all.
She couldn't pretend like she hadn't seen Eirwen, so she just nodded in her direction while she came towards the bar and eventually sat down.
"Hey, Eirwen", she said nonchalantly, as if she was just greeting any other Dresmondi. "First time here?"

Yule remained upon Eirwens shoulder in fact he had got so good at balancing up there he squatted as if he was going to begin sleeping. Eirwen tapped the top of the bar giggling yet she looked for a moment sad, "yeah...I..I always preferred Emir's to Amy of the other turds," finally she looked up at Ona shrugging, "this one's nice of course, but Emir was the only one of us that liked me so that's where he has you still beat."
Reaching up to grab up the braided long hair that fell down the middle of her back Eirwen pulled it over her shoulder and played with it. Yule looking at his human often wondered what people really saw when they looked at Eirwen, probably just the reputation she'd made of herself when the Eldouir arrived but Yule saw something else; the broken mind of a child trapped in a young adults body. She'd never grown when the Eldouir took over. He saw and felt he trapped little girl within her and how all she had ever wanted was to be loved...or cared about. Or maybe just accepted? Shit the Eldouir accepted her as a dog soldier! The worst.
"I come to drink and...," she whispered, "The sex...," Ermir never let her have the former and she'd only fucked once with Yeva...

"Well, I can't replace Emir bur you're most welcome here", she responded, thinking about what Regan had told her.
Ona studied Eirwen's face while the girl played with her braid. She was quite pretty, and Ona wondered what she'd look like if she didn't have such a tough exterior, or when she'd smile. She also wondered what the Eldouir had promised her to betray her own kind the way she did.
Drinking and sex. "That can be arranged", Oma said. Who of her girls would want to sleep with a betrayer like Eirwen though?
"What'd you like to drink?" She would fetch what Eirwen wanted.
"There are quite some girls working here. There's Lovina & Thorn, Wynn, Amanda, Lisa and Tessa. Technically I am as well." She winked at her partner-to-be. Ona figured that making herself available might benefit her as well. Getting close to Eirwen could be good.

"Um..what do I want to drink?" she'd never drank or been asked, she didn't know so she shrugged, "Give me the strongest! And..Lovina...love...I like her name," Eirwen giggled, she didn't say anything else for a while just watched Ona work playing with her braid. Ona was pretty too, Yule could sense Eirwens pleasment thinking about the older woman. She bit her bottom lip before she said, "Do you got any experience? It'd make sense since we'll be partnering up soon..."

Obri would call out to Thorn mentally to tell him that Lovina & Thorn was needed at the bar. Ona patted Obri on the head and stared at his brand mark for a second before smiling at Eirwen & Yule and getting to work. "Lovina will be here shortly", she said before pouring the girl a whiskey, and set it down on the bar in front of her. She poured herself one as well and took a sip.
"What kind of experience, love?" she asked and winked at Eirwen. She was aware what kind of experience Eirwen meant, but she decided to play oblivious and flirty instead.

It would take Lovina a few minutes to make her appearance at the bar. Lovina was still with a client when Ona & Obri sent the message that she was needed. Rather distractedly, she had Thorn relay that she'd be delayed, but she'd be there as soon as...
The message would cut off there.
It took Lovina a while after that, what between allowing herself to enjoy the afterglow, redressing and pocketing the coin that had clinked on her nightstand. She walked her client out of her room and down the stairs, giving him one last kiss before letting him go on his way, "Come back soon," she'd say against his lips. And she knew he would. This was not the first time he'd bought her company, and it wouldn't be the last.
As soon as he was gone, she made her way to the bar, "Sorry I took so long, Ona," she said before winking, "You know how it can be some days." She finally noticed the Dresmondi woman (Eirwen & Yule) near her, "Who's this?" she asked neutrally, although not in an unfriendly way. Low key, she hoped that this person wasn't interested in buying her services...she'd taken a few women clients in the past, but hadn't particularly liked it, so she avoided them when she could--she was a prostitute, but she still had preferences. Those preferences aside...there was something about this one that made Lovina not want to be alone with her...especially intimately. Most Dresmondi were desperate these days, but there was a look about this woman that made the hair stand up on the back of her neck. Lovina wondered, perhaps vainly, if the creepy woman would be satisfied enough if she danced for her instead. She would just have to see.

Eirwen tossed Ona a flirtous smirk as she began to play with the feathers of Yules back, "That older lover experience, I'm curious to see if you could teach me new things," she bit playfully at her bottom lip as she looked at the offered drink. Without knowing the burning after affect Eirwen down the entire drink and immediately began coughing, eyes watering she held a face between disgust and surprise, "Spicy!"
Rubbing her tongue she giggled, "Another!"
That was when another woman joined them asking who Eirwen was, to which Eirwen very bubbly introduced herself, "Eirwen! And this is Yule!" the new arrival was cute but something about Ona had unlocked a tingle that Eirwen felt only Ona could cure.

Oma laughed, realising it wasn't completely fake. Eirwen's bubbly personality was contagious, whether she liked it or not. "You're young, I'm sure an old woman like me can surprise you", she said with a wink and watched Eirwen drink her drink. She poured her another when she asked.
"Never apologise for finishing up work first", she said kindly when Lovina & Thorn approached. She was about to introduce Eirwen when the girl did it herself.
"She's one of the strongest Eldouir soldiers we have", she added, almost shivering at the word 'we'. If she wanted Eirwen to trust her, she'd have to pretend to be okay with working for the Eldouir. She wanted to stay alive as well, and Ishmael had ordered her to work with Eirwen.

The friendliness was…huh. Lovina didn’t see that sort of cheer among her fellow Dresmondi often. At all, actually. She wondered, was this girl that much of an optimist, or was her cheer a coping mechanism? If it was the latter, Lovina supposed it was better than drinking, which was her own way to cope with memories that still haunted her.
“Well met, Eirwen & Yule,” her eyes caught on Eirwen’s dyr for the first time, and she nearly huffed out a laugh at the form. She’d never seen a dyr that was a rooster before, but their companions came in all sorts of forms, “And Yule. I am Lovina, and this,” as if on cue, Thorn flew over and landed on her shoulder, the little red canary sang a little song and shook out his feathers, “is Thorn.”
Lovina turned her eyes toward Ona & Obri at the word “Eldouir” and back to Eirwen. This Dresmondi worked for their oppressors? Was it willing, she wondered, or against her will? She’d ask Ona about their guest later. For now, she’d follow Ona’s lead, “The strongest soldier for the Eldouir? How impressive,” she walked behind the bar, “I think that deserves one of our better vintages.” If Ona allowed it, Lovina would open a bottle of one of the better vintages of wine. She wasn’t sure what was needed exactly, but she wouldn’t do anything to complicate things for Ona if she could help it.

Eirwen was drawn to Ona, the flirting nature of the woman was attention Eirwen clung to like a child in need of love. The two drinks had already turned the soldiers cheeks red and her eyes glassy, so she wasn't going to be turning down the "vintage" stuff offered.
"One of the strongest? Ladies you wound me, I am the best Dresmondi turned soldiers you'll ever meet! Hiram broke me in himself and I survived," Eirwen gloated with a bright smirk, "I can give you both lessons, but of course I want something in return...sex."

She hoped that Lovina & Thorn would be able to realise that anything Ona said and did was with purpose, and that she hadn't turned pro-Eldouir. "My humble apologies, Eirwen, of course you're the best. You're an example for all of us. I must admit that I used to be hesitant, but since Ishmael told me to help out and work with you, I have a new purpose. So yes, I would love a lesson, and don't even worry about sex. I was going to give you that anyway." She winked with a grin on her face, trying hard to not be repulsed by the words coming out of her mouth.

Lovina almost didn’t catch on to what Ona & Obri was doing. The Eldouirs had caused her people nothing but grief…her family, her caravan…she swallowed, an attempt to keep the memories at bay as she ducked behind the bar and poured herself a shot of whiskey. She didn’t like resorting to it to cope, but it was all she had. Thorn flew to her, landing on her head, his attempt at comforting her.
Lovina emerged from the bar, managing a friendly expression again, “I’m afraid my body is more suited for dancing,” not quite a lie. She’d learned to fight and defend her caravan, but she’d always been a much better dancer than fighter.
She saw the interest that Eirwen & Yule had in Ona, and how Ona seemed to be encouraging it. Lovina would assume the role of bartender for this occasion, and would make sure that Eirwen’s cup never ran dry. Lips flapped far more freely when properly primed.

Eirwen was enjoying all their praises, had they known that was all she ever wanted or craved from her people the Dresmondi girl might have turned out differently..but of course their love and praises were different from the ones the Eldouir had given her. She was void of the good ones.
As the drinks kept coming and the acceptance for once of her people lips did in fact begin to loosen, "Ishmael has given me a more fundamental purpose too! He's the bigger picture kind, I promise it's for our benefit what Big Ish is planning," slamming her drink down she leans in closer to the two women, "He knows all about the Medallion," Eirwen snickered still whispering, "so he's got this theory that if we get Dresmond back to a natural state..lush fields of crops and trees...mining...music and laughter again ya know? The before times before our people became big losers...anyways, he thinks the Medallion will come back."
Eirwen sounded proud of this and she had been involved!
"It was part of my tribute!" she beamed proudly sitting up straight, "A trial run you might say, that's what Ish called it anyway...but they didn't make it..," she said rather disappointed but again her mood flashed and change, all that quick gleam of doubt washed away, "but we gotta do better! All of us have to do our part for this to work too," Eirwen was feeling that liquid courage controlling her but she didn't know that, she thought it was just courage.

"You're an amazing dancer too, dear", she said, smiling at Lovina. "Nobody does it quite like tou." She winked. Lovina would know that winks directed at her were friendly and not flirty.
Ona had expected that alcohol would loosen Eirwen's lips, but apparently the girl was quite the lightweight and it had taken far less alcohol than she had suspected. She leaned in close when the young woman started telling them about the Medaillon and Ish's plans.
"Wow..." she whispered softly, widening her eyes. "What an honour to be given that responsibility by lord Ishmael." She smiled at Eirwen, her finger brushing lightly against Eirwen's hand. "It's a good idea, too. Would he reinstall the caravans too, you think?"
She could try to get more out of Eirwen. If she decided to stop taking, she already knew more than before.
