The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Keelan had retired for the night, he wasn't all that social maybe for business but he had a presentation to prepare for the King. So Keelan refilled his whiskey, his tent was large enough to share with Rhedara a divider had been supplied for the respect of her privacy. Still it wouldn't stop her from joining him if she wanted, he wouldn't stop her.
Studying his maps Keelan sipped from his fresh whiskey removing his over coat then loosening his tie thenand he picked a piece of chalk circling two spots one in Coheed and the other in Cambria then placed inside of them two small wooden port models then looked upon it in thought. On the Nevermere side of the map are 16 small wooden ship figures varying in size, the fleet that made up Keelan's fleet for the Keelan Morrigan Company...he was working on that title too. For his partners sake, but he'd hold that surprise for now.
Taking the chalk he circled another location that was half way between Nevermere and Cambria, he placed a small wooden set of buildings where he planned to put a land trade shop or what he would call the Morrigan General Store a place where he believed trading could be established easier by land. He had the staff and coin to start. At the same time in between Keelan knew he could use his ship fleet to continue with the Coheed operations.
He'd be lying if he said he wasn't feeling like a King himself, but he would settle for Master of Trade for King Cassian. Keelan was a man motivated by coin and nothing more which he felt made him feel less of a snake than most of his fellow nobles, his motivation though tittering between bad weren't as nearly nefarious.

Had Rhedara not been a commoner and having grown up in close quarters, the accommodation set up would have been a lot stranger to her than she truly found it. However, she and her brother had shared a room and had used a similar fashioned room divider when they were too old to share the same bed.
She was currently on her side of the tent, getting ready to settle in for the night. The whole day, she’d worn her hair in a braided that was curled into a crown around her head, a style she hadn’t worn since her military days. She’d donned it again because it kept her hair out of her face which was nice for travel but…she’d forgotten how much it pulled at her scalp! She took the time to pull her hair out of the severe style as she listened to Keelan rustle around on the other side of the divider.
He was likely working on that presentation, she thought as she massaged her scalp with her fingers. She played with the idea of going over to that side of the tent. Would it be seen as too brazen, she wondered? Did she care? Not particularly. Besides, he’d claimed to have taken her on this tour to assist him, and peeking over to the other side of the tent would only be her doing her job, right? Right.
She quickly tied her hair in a loose braid sleeping braid and stood from the cot that served as a bed before padding over on bare feet to the divider and giving a light tap to a wooden pole to warn him before she moved the fabric aside to peek through and would only enter all the way if he allowed it.
“Do you mind if I join you?” She asked, eying the table he was working over, “Maybe I can help? Or,” she smiled, “maybe just for company?”

Keelan looked up from his work at the tapping, electric blue eyes finding the face of Rhedara poking from the other side, and he smiled again a rare occurrence.
"Company sounds good Rhedara," Keelan gestured her over pulling a small stool out for her, beside him, and poured her a small cup of whiskey, "I hope the presence of so many nobles haven't dampened or put pressure on your spirit? Not that I believe it could happen," he recognized the strength of Rhedara the moment he had met her, her social status be damned to Keelan Morrigan she was starting to mean more and more to him...more than the proposed business partner. This tour meant more than business now, this gave them time to spend together.
And how did she differ from Violet Bashar? When the cards were going to be forced down where would Violets loyalty to him fall when it came to family? To Keelan's future, Rhedara had no one to support her like Keelan could. Rhedara would gain a lot with the Morrigan name. And in truth maybe Keelan had made up his mind? Or maybe he hadn't.

Rhedara’s smile would widen a little in response to his, and she would walk into his side of the tend and sit on the offered stool. If it was company he wanted, it was company she was going to give. This trip was an opportunity in more ways than one, and she wouldn’t waste it. Ever since Keelan had expressed an interest in her, her own interest in him was piqued. Feelings aside, there would be a lot for her to gain. A title that her mother had been so willing to discard, power, a family of such import that no one would cast her out as easily as the military had so many months ago.
She eyed the whiskey. She no longer coughed when she drank it—thank the goddess—but it still wasn’t her favorite alcoholic beverage. But it was a fine vintage, and she’d be a fool to deny it, flavor preferences or not. So she sipped at it, unsurprised when it went smoothly down her throat.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever bee surrounded by so many nobles, even in the military,” she admitted, “It’s exhilarating!” And it was. Maybe she should have been more intimidated, being the daughter of a disowned noblewoman and a fisherman. But this was something she had wanted her whole life, and here it was happening like a dream—and with a member one of the families of importance no less, “I want to thank you again, for inviting me along. I never thought I’d be a part of something so grand.”

"Most of those other proud nobles are softer than baby shit," Keelan smirked, "But I like that you find this exhilarating and not intimidating," he watched as she drank as he top a sip, staring over his glass with those electric blue eyes, she was so beautiful. So real. When she thanked him again for bringing her he sat his glass down and would take her glass removing it from her hand and then pulling her to him taking her into a dancing position. She smelled sweet and her hands were soft in his.
"I didn't just bring you here to be my business partner," his movements were slow and the music in his head, but did his heart ever hammer like it was before?
"I wanted to see more, I want them to see us as the power couple we can be," he smiled a real smile that softened his hars blues, "To dance...to see you smile when we make breakthroughs...to kiss you," and he did kiss Rhedara, softly and lordly before pulling back, "I respect your move to throw away those invitations..."

She had not expected to be pulled into an impromptu dance that night…or ever, really. The corners of her mouth tilted up, delighted with the new experience. It was…sweet. Romantic. She listened to him speak, heart pounding. Not just a business partner? Could it be…? She would have laughed, tasting victory, had the moment not been so tender.
She let him kiss her, closing her eyes as their lips touched. It had been so long since she had been kissed. So long since someone had held her. It was wonderful and lovely in so many different ways, she didn’t know where to begin. He pulled away, and she opened his eyes so she could look into his own.
“You knew about that?” Her voice was quiet and unsurprised. He always seemed to know everything,“ I’ve been discovering lately that I’m not the rule follower I thought I was,” another smile, “At least, not when it comes to something I want.” Then she bit her lip almost shyly, before she could lean into him, trying to initiate another kiss, “And I want you.”

..."and I want you."
The words pushed him to close the distance between him and the kiss she was initiating, his hands tensed their grip on her body as their lips connected in a longer kiss. He pulled her closer and still it wasn't close enough. He mumbled across her lips, "..and I want you too," he leaned his forehead against hers reaching up to stroke her warm cheek with his thumb, "And I'll break the rules with you...for this..for us, I'll break it all..."

Her fingers dug into his arms as he kissed her again, a low, feminine noise leaving her mouth. He squeezed her to him, and Rhedara would try to move even closer, craving more. He wanted her too. Her mouth tilted up in a smile that was touched by desire and delight. Her efforts to have him had not been in vein!
She closed her eyes as his thumb stroked her cheek, and she slid her hands over and up his arms until she could put her fingers in his hair, “Yes,” she breathed as she trailed one finger down his neck, lightly dragging her nail over his skin, “Let’s break the rules together,” she opened her eyes, peeking at him through her lashes, “And gain even more power.”

He felt each touch from her radiating throughout his entire being, the fire of desire rose from within Keelan Morrigan just as the goosebumps dotted the landscape of his arms and neck. Keelan tasted the whiskey off of her kiss and the smell of new fabric from what she wore.
"Power," he whispered before he began to kiss her neck passionately, teeth skimming softly over skin, and down her neck he traced with those firey kisses as one of his hands fumbled down to reach into his pocket pulling from it a ring box, "...I've made my mind up and I think I have for sometime Rhedara, be mine...forever...," he broke the kissing of her neck to create a bit of distance between them and presented her with the box, "Marry me..."

To Rhedara’s delight, her touch had ignited something in Keelan. She arched her neck for him, enjoying the feel of the attention he was giving her neck. Even as he reached for something in his pocket, Rhedara felt her own desire ignite like a flame. She clutched at him, greedy fingers moving to bury themselves in his hair when he pulled away.
It took a moment for her mind to process his question. When it finally hit her, a soft gasp left her lips as her eyes landed on the box with the ring. It wasn’t her first proposal…that is, if you could even call her first proposal a proposal. The air in which it had been presented to her had only left her hurt. More hurt than she’d realized before that moment. This proposal was not begrudging, not hateful, and it certainly was not presented with undertones of mistrust. He wanted her—he’d said as much. She’d earned whatever affection and respect might have been behind Keelan’s proposal. He treated her like she could be somebody, somebody important and grand. Affection swelled in her chest.
She nodded before she spoke, “Yes. I’ll marry you.”

Keelan removed the half moon ring from the box, the half moon was lined in blue sapphires and inside the moon was a star with a beautiful diamond inlay. He slid the ring on her finger and sealed their current relationship with a kiss on her ring finger, "..I am yours forever Rhedara, this I swear," he pulled her close once again and kissed her with the previous fire that he had his hands bunching up the skirt of her dress, he wanted her now but at the same time she had earned his respect and dignity all of something he wasn't going to sour.

Rhedara admired the ring that was now on her finger. It was gorgeous from the colors of the gems to the shape of the ring. It was the nicest jewelry she’d ever worn. She would smile as he kissed the ring, “And I am yours forever.”
She would eagerly return to their kiss, the embers of that earlier desire reigniting, and would not stop him from bunching up her skirt. Whenever his hands found her skin, she would hook whichever leg he touched around his own and would try and press closer to him. Perhaps it would have been wiser to discourage him, to wait until an elder witch had bound them together, but Rhedara wanted him. She wanted to be closer, to be connected. If he let her, she would trail her kisses from his mouth to his neck, just below the ear, “If you want me,” she breathed against his skin, “You can take me. I won’t stop you.”

She was tender and soft, the fire she felt had ignited his three fold. When she moved to his neck and just below his ear his eyes closed extinguishing those electric blue eyes of his, a moment of those high walls coming down...for her...
Giving him permission to take her, the thought of waiting never crossed his mind, Keelan surprisingly still strong picked Rhedara up wrapping her other leg around him as he carried her over to his roll of bed. He would lower her gently onto the fine pillow staring down at her as his exotic wild bloe eyes hummed in her figure from above, a ringed hand touched her bottom lip softly trailing down her chin and between her breasts lower...and lower until he found what he wanted...he hummed as he began to unbutton his shirt. He wanted her and she wanted him

Rhedara was quickly being swept up in the moment. She looped her arms around his neck as he carried her over to his bed roll, heart speeding up in anticipation. He lay her down on the bed roll, and she released his neck, hands roaming to the laces on her bodice, tugging them loose. She wanted his hands on her, wanted that skin-on-skin contact. She looked into his eyes as he touched her, her body tingling as his fingers trailed lower and lower…
[Fade back in]
Rhedara languidly lay next to him, hand resting on his chest. She stared at the ring on her finger, a satisfied little smile on her face. She’d done it…and other things. If someone had told her a year ago that she’d be in the situation she was now, she would called them crazy. Content. She was content.
She shifted around until she could look into his face. He’d been a passionate lover, and she was looking forward to their next coupling. Distantly, it occurred to her that she could be pregnant, but it didn’t worry her. They would be wed soon enough, and even if he decided to marry someone else…the baby would just forever tie him to her.
She would only speak if it was clear that he was still awake, “So,” she pressed her lips against his chest, feeling rather affectionate, “How soon will you make me your wife?” If they were both common, they probably would just have had a quick and quiet ceremony, but she recalled that nobles made a big to-do of marriages.
