The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Elena didn't even have the will to summon panic in her body. The enchanter ignored her and she felt weaker and weaker. Lost in her own body, she couldn't figure out how to ground herself. It was like she was simply floating away into nothingness. No more joy. Not more thirst for chaos. No more boredom. By the time her soul was entirely gone, locked in a crystal, her eyes had gone from full of life and hope for her future to a simple blank stare.
She was no longer Elena. She was only a body now. A body that had no desires, no needs, no care for anything.
She was simply...gone.
[Elena is dead...ish]

Taking a soul like this, one hundred percent of it, and leaving absolutely nothing behind wasn't something Cordelia had done before. She had taken souls, large chunks of it, but this was the first time she was confronted with the husk she had created. Slowly she stepped forward, leaving her bag where it was in case that Elena was just faking it and would grab it the second she came close enough, but the woman didn't move at all. She just stared, blankly. Cordelia waved her hand in front of Elena's face, but got no response at all. Not even a blink.
She sighed deeply and shuddered a bit, knowing this image would be burned into her memory and haunt her for a while. Then, she would sit back down and think.
Did she leave a note for Akagi? Did she tell him what happened? It took her a long time to decide on what she wanted to do, but eventually she decided against it. He was an enchanted, he would know what had happened. If he could even manage to enter the prison upon his return. She bit her lip until it bled. Would he understand why she had done what she did? Would he be disappointed? Mad, even? Cordelia got up from her chair and straightened her coat. If he knew what was best for Terra Nova, he would understand, she told herself. The older woman made her way over to the other side of the room, to a door. She had never felt younger and more powerful in her life. She placed the portkey in the keyhole and envisioned a place where no one would find her: a place in Arynn Frey, too small to be even considered a city, barely even a town. Cordelia opened the door and saw the desolated, outstretched fields on the other side of the door. Then, she stepped through it, and she was gone.
The key to the prison was still on the necklace. Unless the Peacekeepers had another way of leaving the place, they would be trapped here, and since this was the only key that could grant someone access to the prison, Akagi Llewellyn wouldn't be able to come back here either, unless he managed to make a new key.
Once outside in the fields, Cordelia would drop to her knees and dig a hole. In it, she placed the key to the prison. She had no way of knowing whether Akagi could track it, so she decided to leave it behind. From there, she would walk a long time, her enchanted shoes allowing her to move stealthily. For now, she would be undiscoverable. For now, it was just her and Elena's soul.
