The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Every morning Nicholas would wake up and gaze at Indira lovingly for a few seconds, after which he would stroke her hair and gently give her a kiss on the forehead. Then, he would grudgingly get out of bed and ready himself to head out for the day. While dressing himself, he would wish he could just spend the whole day with her, but he had a company to run. He needed to clean up the small little messes his drunk father had made during his leadership. Nicholas dealt in ships and wares, and the family was known for their expertise when it came to the former. They were a big ship family.
That day, he had arranged to meet up with Indira outside of his office near the docks, so they could go for a walk on the beach while the sun was setting. It would be a magical scene, almost as magical and fairytale-like as the way the couple had met last year. They had met during the Twofold Goddess' Ver festival, when Indira had accidentally dropped her wreath into the water and he had jumped after it to retrieve it for her. Although she hadn't finished the wreath, it had served its purpose, and had brought them together.
Although he was ten years older, he never felt like it when he was with Indira. She kept him young, and he loved and appreciated that about her.
The hours had slowly crept on by, and finally, the work day was finished. Nick said goodbye to his workers and locked the office behind him before heading down to the docks near the beach. There he would wait for Indira with a bottle of wine.

Life couldn't be more perfect. She was head over heels in love with the man who she now got to call her husband and they were still very much in that honeymoon stage of life where they still wanted to be together all of the time. She hoped this feeling would never end.
Today, things were only going to get better. Indira had just confirmed that she was pregnant but she had yet to tell Nick about it. She was sure he would be nothing but elated and their life would only get better and happier from here. She had given him a sweet puppy dog look when he had left for work, wishing he never had to be parted from her. Though she kept busy during the day. She spent her time when her husband was away to continue to work for her family and improve her magic and well as visiting with other high born ladies as she built her connections, wanting to make sure that her and her husband would keep a good standing in Nevermeren society.
When her dear Nicholas was done with work she headed down to the docks to meet him. The dress she wore was a light, flowy white fabric, sheer in all the right places to entice her husband but not so much that she'd be judged as inappropriate by those around her. As soon as she saw him there waiting for her, her whole face lit up with a smile and a sparkle in her eyes. She wrapped her arms lovingly around him and pressed a kiss to his lips. "I missed you today. How was work, my darling?" she asked.

He didn't have to wait long before his wife showed up. He turned towards her and had a big smile on her face as she watched her approach. She was breathtaking, beautiful, stunning and all the other synonyms. Her dress suited her perfectly, and the fabric floated almost poetically around her legs, thanks to the light breeze that you always had near the sea.
He returned her embrace and pulled her close to him, kissing her. "I missed you more", he teased, still holding her close to him. "Work was good, we closed a new contract, so I'm happy." He smiled lightly. "Shall we go for a walk?" If she said yes, he would pick up the glasses he had brought from the sand and offer her his arm.

"That's wonderful news, I'm so proud of you. I know how hard you've worked to make things better since taking over. I'm sure your employees are just as happy to have you lead them," she praised him. She nodded at his suggestion, "You know how much I adore a walk on the beach." It has always been a favorite of hers, especially during the warmer parts of the year but even the cold had never stopped her for long.
She smiled as he picked up the glasses and looped her arm into his. "This has always been my favorite part of the day. I hope it always will be," she gazed lovingly up at him as they walked.

Her kind words made him feel warm inside. Although his father had been an unpleasant man, Nicholas had never developed a toxic masculinity complex. He was open and warm, and loved getting compliments and praise from Indira. Some men didn't like their women talking to them like this, but he loved it. "Thank you, dear", he responded. He had indeed been trying very hard since taking over, because his father had been a horrible employer and leadership for the company.
He did indeed know she loved walks on the beach. He had been indifferent to them, until he met Indira. The beach had always been for working, but now he loves going for a walk, especially at sunset, to watch the sun go down with Indira. She made him love things. So many of the things he now loved, were associated with her. "It will always be our moment. Nobody can take that from us", he said with a soft, loving smile. "Not as long as my name is Nicholas Beaumont." He laughed at his own silly way of promising it.

She adoringly squeezed her arm around his as his beautiful words and she chuckled in response to his promise. She let the feeling feed her soul, the sensation like sinking into a hot bath as it enveloped inch by inch of her skin. This was pure joy. It was as they reached the sand that she paused to remove her shoes, carrying them in her free hand so she could feel the sand between her toes as they walked. The sea breeze caught her hair, tugging teasingly at the tendrils and brushing them like kisses over her cheeks. She didn't try to brush it out of her face, knowing it was futile.
After a few moments she did release Nick's arm and spread her arms out wide, her face turned up towards the sky as she turned in slow circles, letting the breeze play with her hair and her dress, a brilliant smile on her face.

Nicholas also stopped to take off his shoes when they got to the beach itself. He didn't care much about the sand between his toes, but he didn't want to get his good shoes dirty, and he wanted to feel in unity and sync with Indira. If she took off her shoes, it was probably a nice and smart move, and he didn't want to miss out.
He stood back and watched his wife spin around with a smile on her face. He had a huge smile on his face as well, and his heart felt warm watching her. He would watch her spin a couple of circles, and give her as long as she wanted, before walking over to her and embracing her again. "I can't believe I got so lucky", he murmured in her hair. He had been thirty when they met, which meant he had been quite old to be unmarried. Eventually he would let go. "Do you want to sit here, or walk a little further?"

A soft, loving chuckle came from her lips as he embraced her and she held onto him tenderly. "Yes, you're very lucky indeed," she teased, her fingers playing with his hair as he held her. "But truly I'm the lucky one. I can't believe no one snatched you up before I had the chance. Just another sign of the fate that brought us together." Whatever he believed, Goddess, fate, or chance, she believed she'd been lead to him, to her bliss.
"Hmmm, let's go just a bit further, a bit farther from the docks," she said, preferring as much privacy as she could get with her husband.

He chuckled at her confidence, but completely agreed with her. He had never expected her to like him, let alone love him, but they had managed to be one of those rare couples in Nevermere that had married out of love, and not some arrangement. "It was definitely your Goddess that kept other women away from me", he laughed. "She knew we were meant to be." He didn't really believe, but he know how much the Twofold Goddess meant to the Chaudhari family.
He nodded gently and held out his arm again, so they could continue their stroll on the beach. "It's funny how this beach are so important to me", he said, looking at where the water met the shore. "Before, it was business, but now, it's everything to me. Because you love it." He looked at her, lovingly, as they walked.

Indie knew just how lucky she was to be married to someone who loved her so much. Not everyone was this lucky, especially not in noble families like theirs who cared so much about lineage and reputation. To find real love instead of just an arrangement was a blessing she thanked the Goddesses for every single day.
Her gaze softened lovingly at his words and squeezed herself closer to him, resting the side of her head against his shoulder briefly as they walked and meeting his gaze. "I've always loved the beach but it can't begin to compare to my love for you, and having you here with me now every day makes me only love the beach even more."
They reached a nice spot of the beach with soft, dry sand, and around a small curve in the shore so it was a little bit more private than where they had been before. "How about here?" she suggested, though she had to admit that the urge to get him home and in their bed was starting to warm her insides.

It was good that nobody could hear them. They might have just made them gag with their lovey-dove-ness and sweet words. Nicholas didn't mind it one bit, though, and even loved it. They were clingy, but made sure to be decent when people were around.
He kissed the side of her head when she rested her head against his shoulder, and chuckled in response to her words.
Eventually they reached a spot and Indira suggested sitting down there. "Perfect", he said, letting go of her arm to put down a blanket for them to sit on. He then placed his shoes down, as well as the bottle and the glasses and held out a hand to hold Indira's when she stepped onto the blanket.
When they sat down, he would open the bottle of wine and do a quick taste test. Satisfied with the taste and smell, he poured Indira and himself a whole glass, and would hand it to her with a smile. "How about we toast?"

She sat gracefully on the blanket with his assistance, her shoes in the sand beside her and the breeze causing her lightweight skirts to tickle against her ankles. She accepted the glass, not yet aware that it wasn't a good idea when you were pregnant, and lifted her glass towards her husband.
"To you, my love, and your continued success and our continued joy," she began, allowing him to finish the toast if he so chose.

"To forever us", he added, letting his glass touch hers, causing a cheerful sound to echo between them as he smiled at her. He would take a sip of wine and look at the sea for a moment before returning his gaze to Indira. "And how was your day today?" he asked, scooting closer to Indira. What had his beautiful wife been up to?

Forever with Nicholas was all she wanted. She believed the Goddesses had brought them together, whether he thought the same or not. How could she deny their influence when she was blessed enough to find a husband with whom she could so joyfully spend a life together. They were meant for each other and things couldn't have gone more beautifully.
Her heart skipped a beat at his question and then began to race. She smiled up at him from her spot beside him and couldn't help the smile and happiness that filled her features. "Well, actually," she began, "I have news." Her eyes sparkled and her smile seemed to fill her whole face. "My love, my Nicholas...I'm with child," she told him, her hand resting over her still flat belly. "We're going to have a baby," she said, happy tears welling in her eyes.

He knew Indira well enough to know her smile was a special kind of smile. It was a smile that meant she had been up to something, something exciting. She had news to share. His attention had already been completely on her, but now he was excited to hear what she had to say. Knowing Indira, it would be good. It would be amazing. And he was right, because she had news.
His mind was all over the place, but not in an anxious way. He was eager to hear the news and was trying to imagine what it could be. And then the words that made him burst with joy. "Indira!" he exclaimed happily, leaning forward to embrace her, his fingers tangling in her hair as he smiled in it. "My love, I am overjoyed." Tears would form in his eyes. He wanted to be a father so badly. He wanted to stop the cycle of abuse and give their baby the best life possible. After holding her for a few minutes, he would pull back, his cheeks glistering with the residue of the happy tears. "That is amazing news. No, wonderful news. I love you so much. I love our baby so much." He laughed and kissed her hands. "We're going to be parents." His lip trembled as he smiled, completely overcome with emotions.
