Tale:
As the second son of a noble family, it wasn’t uncommon for one to peruse interests in the military. As was the case with Philippe Irving, with his older brother easily following in their father’s footsteps, Philippe was left much to his own devices. With gentle nudges and encouragement from his father for him to consider his potential in the military. Though Philippe didn’t get as much face time with his father as his older brother, Andros wasn’t one to neglect his children. Especially not when his wife fell ill and passed the winter after Philippe turned seven. He encouraged his children to do well in their studies, and was pleasantly surprised when Philippe not only seemed interested in beginning his combat training; but the boy also had a mind for his studies.

When he was twelve, Philippe began his formal instructions in combat training. And while he seemed to struggle a bit with building his strength; he was quite agile on his feet and quick with his hands. When he was eighteen, he chose to stay in the military and committed himself to being a career soldier. That was the plan. He refused to be one of those second sons who flitted away chasing trivial pursuits. Or women. No, he worked hard to be a very effective soldier. When it came to his hard work, it was no surprise how the man moved up in rank. There was nothing he felt drawn to more than his career as a soldier, that is; until he met Amelia Irving .

She was two years older than him, and quite an admirable warrior in her own right. Philippe had of course heard the tales of her older sister Vesper Delvaux , but there was something about Amelia that stirred some very strong emotions in him. He was twenty-four when he was selected for the honor of becoming a Witch-paired soldier. As if he wasn’t already interested in the stunning woman; he now had the luck of being paired with her. She was twenty-six and everything his heart yearned for. Flirtatious when the moment fit, but calm and cool under pressure. Amelia had such an elegance about her that wasn’t often seen in the military women he knew. The more time he spent in her presence; the more he wanted to convince her to marry him.

Fortunately for him, she took a liking to him as well. He’d known her to be comfortably flirtatious, but she was different with him. Philippe absolutely adored her, and was beyond relieved to realize that she returned his affection and interest. Thankfully, their families agreed to the match and allowed them to marry. The couple decided to put off the idea of children, as both are very committed to their careers in the military. And while Philippe wants kids; he would do absolutely anything for Amelia.

While his own career in the military might not be as impressive as his wife’s; Philippe is an exemplary soldier, his skills lying more in close combat with his agility and quick hands. He’s also known to utilize throwing knives in a pinch. He is currently ranked as a lieutenant.
