The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Eirwen had become fond of drinking at the Drunken Dyr, tonight was no different and as slow as it seemed Eirwen preferred it this way. She wasn't in her usual soldier gear but instead she was wearing a green short top that bared a few of her markings and a black hip hugging knee length swath of fabric. However her muddy heavy boots still adorned her feet as did the dagger on her side and sitting beside her was her longsword that was holding her fur. It was warm in the bar as a fire burned proudly to fight off the growing cold, not that she or Yule minded winter it was in fact their favorite season.
Yule sat perched on the bar his head tucked under a wing fast asleep. Eirwen had come to wait and drink with Ona but hadn't seen her yet so she was enjoying a warm mead, slowly, last time she feared she'd never want a hangover again! Still no matter how empty the bar was a man hand wondered up to Eirwen plopping a fat gut against the bar smiling like a horny old dog, "Are one of Ona's new girls?" he touched her exposed ribs with an equally fat dirty finger, "I know what you could do with those long legs...Kindslayer...," the last word was dripped in what Eirwen felt was an insult. She didn't look at the man nor flinch away but she whispered back, "To call me that means you know who I am? But I'm trying to be good here bub, so fuck off."
The man leaned closer and his breath was terrible and he was drunk clearly, "Whats going to stop me? The little bouncer? I could fuck you right here and no one's going to stop me from fucking silly the Kindslayer...I mean it ain't no red haired Eldouir cock, but it'll do the job..."
Eirwen remained still. Ona said she didn't have to do bad...but this man.
"It'll never make up for what ya' did to my little girl," the hitch and the anger in the man's voice finally had Eirwen snap her attention from her drink to him. He had a good few inches on her and he was dirty and he was in fact crying, a small mouse sat on his shoulder...a dyr, "You deserve everything coming..."

It had been a long time since Seth had last had a roof over his head. A real roof. Not some tent that he'd pitched up somewhere in the hopes that the weather stayed on his side. He had a bed. A nice warm, and cozy bed with a pillow and a cover. What might have seemed like an every day home comfort to many, was, to a man who had spent so much time wandering around, drifting - granted of his own volition - it was a luxury which he had practically forgotten.
The cost was even reasonable enough. All he had to do was pick up a few things every now and then, and keep an eye on things when he was around, and he was allowed to say. The arrangement, as somewhat unconventional as it was, was working out just fine so far. So Seth had no intention of leaving. Even Jezebel, uncomfortable as she might have been initially, had ended up settling down a bit.
He did have to carry out his duties though. That was exactly what he was doing that one winter's day. Seth didn't advertise his presence. It wasn't good for business. People who came here wanted to drink, enjoy themselves (usually with one or more of the workers), and forget about the world that they found themselves in. Having effectively a bouncer standing by the door, milling around didn't do much to set a pleasant mood. So, it was from a corner that Seth kept his well-trained eyes, and ears on the tavern, making sure that everyone was behaving and enjoying themselves. From time to time, he might walk down one of the corridors, and keep an ear open, just to make sure that nothing in the bedrooms was getting out of hand.
Right now though, it was a scene by the bar that had drawn his attention. He knew only one of the participants: the woman with the rooster. A few of the girls had been kind enough to fill him in. Never before had he interacted with her though. He knew she meant something to Una though, and she was the woman who was providing him with a roof over his head. So, there was no real choice right now...
With a nod, he gave the signal. Jezebel would begin to sliver up the counter. She used her powers to bend the light around her. From time to time, she might appear as a glimmer. Assuming that she wasn't stopped, the snake would only become visible when it was on the counter. Her head would be raised, and hood unfolded. From behind them, Seth would approach at a sedate pace. As if he had all the time in the world. "Come on. It's cold enough outside, let's keep things friendly in here. Eh, friend?" He spoke to the man. "Move on, and leave the girl alone."

The man didn't move but to look towards the new guest (Seth), he had rage in his eyes, "This little bitch, do you know what she's done?" he screamed the next part for the rest of the entire tavern, "Do any of you know what she's done?! She deserves to di-," and taking the man's moment of distraction Eirwen had pulled her little dagger and plunged it through the man's small dyr through his neck. Blood misted Eirwen across the face, several people gasped and jumped away, and Yule now we'll awake was hopping with a display of wild wings beating on the bar top.
Eirwen stepped back as the man lunged in a last attempt of revenge but bounced once off the barr and tumbled over the stool dying on the floor in a puddle of blood.
The dark haired girl stood stock still heavy breathing, "He was a rapist," she was telling them the only story that mattered, "By my duties as a soldier his sentence was death...understood!" she stared at the man, wondering perhaps what he would do.

Seth opened his mouth as the stranger continue to shout. He readied himself to have to try and get physical, aware that size wasn't on his side. It was then that a flurry of movement drew his attention. Jezebel would recoil backwards in a mixture of surprise, and horror. She was tense, ready to strike at either Eirwen, or Yule should either move in a way which displeased her, or seemed suspicious. "Oh fu- Jeez- Okay! Right!" He looked around in panic.
Barely a month in and already having to conceal a body.
It wasn't that the smuggler hadn't ever seen a body before, nor someone breathing their last, but it wasn't something that he particularly enjoyed dealing in. Especially not when it had happened so quickly, so seemingly randomly, and when there had been other options. He was determined not to let Eirwen out of his sight. Seth stretched out his left arm, providing his dyr with a ramp to coil up so that she could make her way onto the relative security of her partner's shoulders.
Her answer only caused him to roll his eyes. "Oh yeah that's going to be great for business! More taverns should have a dead body for a doormat! I have no idea why it hasn't caught on!" He couldn't help but hiss at the girl. He took a breath, calming himself as best as he could. He was a businessmen. His job was to keep things running relatively smoothly. Seth ran a hand through his dark hair, thinking quickly. "Could you put that thing away-" He nodded towards her bloody knife. "And help me tidy this little mess of yours up, before this place goes out of business, or are there some more patrons that you want to murder first?"

Killing didn't affect Eirwen and Yule lept from the bar top to his persons shoulder roosting, 'sorry about that,' Yule relayed to the younger boys dyr, 'she's uh, different,' said Yule to which Eirwen huffed, "I'll stab you next you flaccid cock," Eirwen was smirking as she took the dagger and cleaned it on the thigh of her leg, the blood was absorbed by the black fabric before returning it to is scabbard, "Grab his feet pretty boy," she snapped at the younger man before casually wiping the blood off her face, but it only smeared leaving behind a crimson mask, "I know how to clean this up, but first the body,"
Eirwen was clearly taller than the man but she liked his little man figure, in fact she seemed to appear almost in a trance as she looked him up and down. She liked his jet black hair and his little attitude, 'he's handsome,' she told Yule, 'is this hardly the time to be fall-,' and Eriwen cut him short, "falling in love, I think I am...he was going to stand up for me!"
Kind of pulling herself from her fractured sporadic thoughts Eirwen would grab up under the man's arms and shoulders.
'i highly doubt it's love Eirwen, and must you latch on to someone every time they give you any inkling of attention?' Yule argued.
"I'm Eirwen," Eirwen spoke to the man while ignoring Yule yet again but the Rooster persisted, 'you don't even know him Eirwen...,' she giggled at the younger man, "Hell of a first date huh?"

Less than one month in and he was already about to try hiding a body. Just great. This was exactly the sort of bloody mess which Seth would usually have avoided like the plague.
Yule's comment/explanation caused Jezebel to actually risk poking her head out from underneath the hood of Seth's robes. "So we see..." Was the snake's only response. She remained poised, carefully positioned on Seth's shoulders as he began to help deal with their little issue. "Sure. Guess you've got plenty of practice with this sort of thing..." If they rose the body, Jezebel would try to bend the light around the pool of blood on the floor. It would make it invisible. At least until someone stepped in it, not realizing that it was there and repainted the floor, but that would be a problem for later on.
"Seth." He wouldn't have handed out his name to such an obvious psychopath on an ordinary day, but Eirwen was by all accounts something of a regular in the tavern. No doubt she would have been able to find it out relatively easily had she wished to. So there was no sense in keeping it a secret.
After a few seconds of interaction, Seth had already decided that he REALLY didn't want to push his luck with Eirwen if at all possible.
The fact that Eirwen might even contemplate developing a crush on him - let alone at a time like this - hadn't even crossed Seth's mind. He was a little bit too occupied in trying to dispose of the corpse before someone with red hair noticed. Not that he supposed they would care all that much. These days, scenes like this weren't exactly unusual. As such, he thought that she was probably trying to be funny. Which was worrying in its own way, but again, they were moving a corpse, he had other priorities right now. "Oh yeah, right. I bet they'd never be a dull moment with you. What's your idea of fun for going steady?"
He looked around, thinking for a way out. "So... Where do the former patrons of this place go? You got a pile someplace, or are we going to have to start digging a hole in the cellar for him?"

He made her giggle and she almost let go of the dead man, "Oh boy just hush, you are making me laugh and I'm gonna drop this pa...pay...tron..this heavy dead fuck," she corrected herself and her voice was higher pitched and what the hell was going in? She'd only felt so loopy around Yeva...Myla..Hiram..Ona but in a completely different way...
"You are so silly," Eirwen commented back, "help me toss him in that wheelbarrow and you'd be lucky to get with this Seth," a seductive like smile on Eirwens face to which Yule commented, 'why is your face like that? Get a grip girl.'
Eirwen would flop her her end over in the wheelbarrow with no regard to the body, he was dead anyways what did it matter. Statement of fact.
"I'll drive, save those arms for digging," Eirwen cooed as she lifted the handles of the wheelbarrow pushing forward. Yule flew from Eirwens shoulder and down on the dead man.

As Eirwen's hands threatened to slip from the body, Seth instinctively tightened his grip. It wasn't exactly going to stop him from hitting the deck if she did let go, but then he wasn't exactly in a state to complain about it. He tries his best not to pay any attention to her smile, brushing it off as the product of a clearly deranged mind and not reading anything into it.
"Lucky?" He repeated. "Haven't you heard? I'm the luckiest man in the world..." So lucky, he was hiding, and moving bodies apparently. With the body carelessly dumped, he was only too content to allow Eirwen to do the rest of the work as far as wheeling him through the streets was concerned. Jezebel would do her best to conceal the body within the barrow. She would only mask the man, so that the rest would appear to be empty. At least from a certain distance. He would be a shimmer of a form to the outside oblivious spectator.
"Keep it steady. It's harder for her to hide things if they're movin' around too much. Hmph..." Seth couldn't help but scoff, as he reflected about his own words. "Bet that's the last time somebody's going to say that about him."

Eirwen giggled at his joke, "You are so funny Seth," she watched as his dyr did it's thing which made Eirwen laugh even more, "It's so true though he won't but why hide? Listen no one's saying shit to me, I've been dropping bodies for the Royals for years and killed more scummy Dresmondi then this fool...we won't get in trouble Seth," she just loved to say his name...Seth...Seth...Seeeth...
"Why was you at the Drunken Dyr? Paying for some sex," she wasn't the most gifted in the chest department or ass but she attempted to show off what she did have, "...you wouldn't have to pay for me," she said very flirty almost seductive.
Post by Seth & Jezebel on Jul 13, 2024 2:40:34 GMT -5
Seth listened to Eirwen's explanations, excuses, reassurances... Whatever they were. They probably had the opposite of the desired effect. Rather that banish any worries that he might have had, Seth found himself to be anything but comforted. It wouldn't immediately show on his face though. Instead, he couldn't help but make a few more comments: "Oh, so this is a hobby then? And here I thought this was something special."
Eirwen was certainly a special type of crazy. Lovina had been right when she'd said that she wasn't dull. "I'm not a client, or a patron." It would seem that he knew a little more about Eirwen, than she did about him. "I work there. Get em' a few things when they need it, and try to keep trouble away. Obviously I'm great at my job, that's why we're here right now..."
Seth tried to ignore the flirting attempt. He was getting a terrible sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach which made him increasingly believe that she was actually serious.
Post by Eirwen & Yule on Jul 13, 2024 21:01:19 GMT -5
Eirwen could see the rejection clear as day all of a sudden, heard it in the sudden sarcasm of his voice and that hurt because she took those first words exactly as he had said them...this wasn't special?
Her thick brows furrowed and she looked straight a head, "i thought it was special," she mumbled angrily and suddenly was fussing at him, "Yeah you do suck at your job Seth and if you are going to be a sour puss about a little work then why'd you come?"
'he doesn't fear you...he just thinks your weird,' Yule told her and as she continued to push the wheelbarrow she glared at Seth, "Is that true? You think I'm weird? Do you think I'm crazy?"
Post by Seth & Jezebel on Jul 20, 2024 2:03:50 GMT -5
Seth's eyes widened as the mood swung once more. Eirwen was certainly living up to her reputation, and he was far from convinced that it was a good thing. He didn't want to become her next target for score settling. The body in the wheel barrow was enough to dissuade him of that much. So, he took a deep breath. "Look. You killed a guy two steps in front of me. I can't say that a typical start to a date. So yeah, it is special."
He would roll his eyes at the comment about him sucking at his job. Of course the man knew that he wasn't doing a stellar job right now. He just wanted to get rid of the body, and head back to the tavern to clean things up so as to be able to forget that any of this had ever happened. "Yeah. Tell me about it..." Was all he could think to answer.
Then she asked if he thought that she was crazy. A loaded question if ever there was one. "I know I've never met anyone else quite like you." It was the answer he chose to give the strange psychopath.

Eirwen got quite her wild eyes bouncing between the boy and the body, he had a valid point so she couldn't argue with him about it. What a very wild first introduction indeed. However she wasn't going to give Seth the satisfaction of being right! And she did just tell him he sucked as his job so she wasn't going to repeat it.
As she lead Seth away she would remain quiet, seething, he was lucky he was cute or she might have just been burying two bodies. She was going to try and be better though for Ona for the memory of Ermir.
They would come to a clearing but it was far from empty, twelve markers greeted them and all of them had various degrees of age; some looked older, different sizes, and she was sure some were empty like Aylin's because Eirwen had let that one die and decompose as a warning to thieves. It definitely wasn't all of them either just the ones that had meant something behind the kill. She didn't know it was weird, it was trophies to her ability to do what others couldn't.
However it was the last four that were perhaps most alarming to see; they were small and fresh. 'NAMELESS' had been carved into their marked graves and dead flowers leaned against them.
"We'll put him with them," Eirwen declared pointing at the space at the end of the row beside the four small graves, "I got a shovel around here..."
Post by Seth & Jezebel on Aug 9, 2024 2:08:14 GMT -5
Seth was quite content that Eirwen had turned a little bit quieter. He didn't particularly care just why that was, or how. He hoped to simply take advantage of her quietness, and distraction, to get this all over and done with. When he got back to the Drunken Dyr, he was most definitely going to find a way to speak to Ona - a woman he didn't actually know - about this. The man liked to think of himself as being comparatively level-headed, but this whole burying a body in the backyard type thing was definitely pushing things a little.
He bit his lip to avoid making any comments about the makeshift graveyard that he found himself in. How long had Eirwen been burying people? A dozen or so graves, in the scheme of things wasn't that many, but if they were all caused by the same person... "Did you do all of this?" He couldn't help but ask.
On his shoulders, Jezebel slivered up onto his shoulders, so that her head was closer to his ear. "Keep your nerve. We're almost finished here." He tried to take some comfort from his Dyr's words. This was the last time that he agreed to bury bodies with a psychopath.
Whilst Eirwen went in search of her shovel, Seth's gaze came to rest upon one of the grave makers. "Nameless". No doubt Eirwen wouldn't realize it, but it hit a good deal closer to home than she might have thought. He thought of his own mother, and the agony of having neither a body to lay to rest, nor even a name to use. All he had left of her was memories.
He turned back towards his companion. "Are you worried this guy might have some people who'll come looking for him?"
Post by Eirwen & Yule on Aug 10, 2024 7:38:19 GMT -5
"I did..I returned them all to the ground as intended," Eirwen answered Seth's question sounding proud as if she had done the right thing, "I had to bury my little brother there," she had pointed to the very first grave also marked Nameless, "It was right after the first Tribute, when we knew the Medallion was lost...he was to sweet for this world and he would have died here," Eirwen dropped the shovel where Seth would dig before wondering over to her brothers grave.
As for Seth's last question Eirwen shrugged before dropping beside the first grave to pull wild weeds, "I ain't much worried about that, let them come and let them fall...their deaths will be just as quick," Eirwen was quiet confident in her answer, "I'm a good fighter and Yule is a one dyr beast when he isn't being a little cock of course, Eldouir broken and trained ain't that right Yule?"
The pitch black rooster just pecked at the ground like a nerve racked chicken.
