(Open for anybody, possibly multiple people)
Recent events left Florina feeling restless and afraid. The Eldouir had occupied the palace, and no one but a select few were allowed in. Ever since she’d heard the news, she’d mostly stayed in her aunt’s home since it seemed to be the safest place. But there was only so long one could play music or embroider. Two of her escapes had proven useless, and even though it was far too fridged, she set out on a walk. Perhaps it was foolish to do so—who knew if any of the Eldouir would decide to show their ugly faces outside of the palace—but she needed to get out and do something. Although she didn’t know what. A part of her wondered if she had been at the palace…had she not gone home to personally collect the parcel she’d forgotten at home…but what could she have done then? She was not a fighter, nor was her gift any good for anything other than sensing magic. Maybe she could have sounded the call. Maybe they would have arrived too quickly for her to do anything at all.
And so she left the perceived safety of her favorite aunt’s abode to stroll through the streets of Loren with only her maid, Sophie for company. She was headed in the direction of the park since the walking paths there were long. But she would pass through some crowds of people, hiding her face under her warm hood in case they recognized her as a gifted. She wanted to see the people, hear any rumors or whispers that she could. Maybe her magic would pick up on something useful.
“My lady,” Sophie’s nervous voice broke the silence, “Please, I don’t think it’s safe to be out like this…”
“I’m sure we will be alright, Sophie,” Florina reassured her even though she was in full agreement. It might have been the most foolish thing she’d done of late, but as far as she knew, the palace was where the danger lay, and if no one could go in, she assumed no one could come out, “It should be safe enough to stroll about,” she said more for herself than for her maid.
