The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

(this thread is for @revna Sigyn @rina @grissa post in any order)
Odina had did as she said returned to her tent to await the ones she requested. P'ol was present playing a solo game of stones as her Mother took a seat upon the wooden carved bench within her current dwelling removing the soften woolen hood previously adorning her head but she sat patiently hands folded in her lap. It would be just her and the Cambrians so she instructed the Witches outside of her tent to hold everyone's weapons that this was a neutral space. However her dagger remained resting behind her back.

With the end of the announcement came Rina’s next, unforeseen duty. Through their shouted accusations, Revna and Sigyn had made clear where they stood on the matter of Isolde’s removal and Odina’s new placement as Chieftess. Grissa had as well, though she had - at least ostensibly - bent a metaphorical knee to Nevermere’s choice and by extension the king’s authority. This morning’s meeting might have passed without incident, but there would be whispers. A quiet discomfort at this new blatant display of Nevermerean oversight.
And, in the eyes of some, overreach.
Deciding that a four year old had no business in close proximity with Isolde’s Second, Isolde’s daughter, an Elder with no love lost for Nevermere, and the new Nevermere-endorsed Chieftess, Rina had left her daughter, Ferra, under Neela’s watchful eye and now entered Odina’s home alone. She had raised an eyebrow when the witches outside had told her to relinquish her weapons but obeyed without comment, for a Cambrian who posed a danger only when she held steel in her hand was no Cambrian at all. Gaze softening, her dark eyes found P’ol first before settling on the girl’s mother. “You’ve made quite the return, Odina,” Rina greeted her with a smile, not quite sure where she now stood with her sister. “I hope you found whatever you were looking for when you left.”
The time between the announcement and having to meet Odina in the tent wasn't enough to meet with @revna in the Sanctum tower, so Sigyn had just walked around before heading to the place she was supposed to be at. Of course she had contemplated not going, but her curiosity got the best of her, as well as the opportunity to be in close proximity of the new 'Chieftess'.
The witches asked her to hand over her weapons, and Sigyn had raised an eyebrow at the request. She wasn't about to go in unarmed. The blonde handed over her hatchets, but the knife that was tucked in her boot would go unnoticed.
@rina was already in the tent, but Sigyn paid her no mind. The woman hadn't answered her question when she asked it in the crowd, and it was obvious that her sister didn't feel the same way as she did about Isolde's arrest.
Sigyn didn't say anything. She didn't greet either of the women and instead just crossed her arms in front of her chest.

Nevermere liked to over-reach. They were obsessed with changing Cambria and trying to mold them into the perfect little citizens. But that was not something that Revna would ever be. So when Odina announced a meeting, she knew the whole thing would be a waste of time. She couldn't do anything without her King telling her what to do anyways.
Looking at those who were told to take her weapons, Revna started to laughed. Loudly shouting into the tent she laughed. "You scared of your own sisters Odina?" She started to pull off her axe, and pull various knifes from her belt. She hadn't brought her trident, but her wings rested hidden and she kept the dagger hidden on her thigh under her clothes.
Waltzing in she joined Sigyn, casting a disgusted look at the woman who dared to call herself a chieftess after leaving Cambria and then taking their real leader upon her return.

Odina greeted @rina with a warm smile, "All in good faith Rina, I hope it's all in good faith," she quickly and politely whispered to Rina before first the Elders entered then Sigyn whom Odina wished to consul the most, she would get answers about the woman's Mother, at least that she was alive. For a moment she thought about her Mother...and how she was murdered like her Father...and sister...she knew the loss of family. The absurd nature of it all being relatable made the task of gaining some kind of understanding between them surely a daunting task. She believed her nephew excelled in subtle.
She ignored the jab from @revna and sat quietly waiting. She let them get as comfortable as their pride allowed waiting for Kelder but when the woman didn't show she notated it mentally away for later.
"Thank you all for coming, deny or accept, it tells me that it's a step towards something and I hope you will at least hear me," she looked at every woman in the room pausing on Revn and then Rina, "As much as each of you have a reason to dislike me I want you all to be in on the discussion of appointing my Second...keeping in mind, I wish this person to have the best interests of Cambria in mind. So I wish to offer the position to @rina...now let's discuss."
Sigyn didn't bother to hide her annoyance anymore. Her brows were pitched together in an angry look. "What a surprise", she said, before huffing and looking at @rina. "You don't even keep @revna as your second." Not that Revna would want to help this traitor. Odina Ellis had been brainwashed by Nevermere and now she was planning on taking them all with her.
But Sigyn had heard enough, and she wasn't planning on listening to the rest of the conversation. With a smooth movement, she removed the dagger from her boot and lunged forward at Odina Ellis, hoping to stab the woman in the heart. It's what the All-Mother would want, after all. She didn't need answers about Isolde from this woman anymore. She would only lie.

Odina saw the flash of steel, P'ol cried out her super speed having her up and rushing toward her Mother in protection. Odina hadn't even rose from where she sat, she raised her arm aiming her hand at Sigyn whispering an incantation, should she be successful a gust of unforeseen gust of force would be aimed at the charging woman. It wouldn't be like the wind but out of anger and rage that only a chaotic witch could muster meant to knock the warrior woman back and if it destroyed the tent so be it. The commotion would be enough to warn the soldiers and Witches outside the tent.

Should the tent be destroyed, the commotion would surely be enough to alert the soldiers nearby of the conflict. Octavius happened to be one of the nearby soldiers. His sword was drawn from his hip in an instant, but he stayed back, of course. Cambrian women were impossibly strong. He wouldn't go head to head with one if he could help it...but he also wasn't about to let a dignitary of Nevermere get cut up without some effort. He knew the witch soldiers would be the first line of defense, so we watched for them to make a move.
Revna snorted as Odina acted as if her or Sigyn being there was a sign of kindness or acceptance. Honestly it was ridiculous to think it was anything but sizing up the enemy. Clearly she had either lost her edge or she was doing that whole dumb ass polite thing that women of Nevermere pulled. In Cambria you said what you meant not skirting around or making shit up to look good. It was ridiculous, and she wasn’t having it with full plans to say something when Isolde’s daughter decided to do the opposite of everything they had planned. Perfect
”No-“ But the words were too little too late. Sure she didn’t think Rina deserved the second spot but she didn’t think Odina was the real chieftess either. So really this whole thing was a farce and here was Sigyn thinking with her heart rather than her head. Apparently Isolde had only trained one of them to be heartless, funny.
And she had no plans to stage a coup here and now. So she squatted down, ready to attack anyone who might her, but no plans to lash out.
The warmth in Odina’s response had Rina’s quiet smile growing. Once the new Chieftess had a chance to settle into her new role, Rina thought, perhaps the two of them ought to take some time to catch up. It had been quite a while since they’d spoken, after all, and their similarity in age had caused them to spend a considerable amount of time around each other as they grew up and learned the traditions that bound their sisters together. She would like to hear more about Odina’s travels. But, as first Sigyn and then Revna stepped into the tent with their hackles raised, such tales could wait.
Her attention shifted from the newcomers, whom she greeted with a quiet nod, to Odina as the Chieftess began speaking and declared that she sought Rina’s support as her second. Where Isolde’s daughter evidently felt nothing but anger, the Cambrian in question met the declaration with a stunned pause as she blinked at Odina for a moment before glancing over at Revna. And it was in that moment that Sigyn launched into motion.
For all of the conviction that drove the attack, should she have the opportunity to reflect upon it, Rina would look back and consider it the embodiment a foolishness reminiscent of a Coheedsmen. Sigyn and Revna had made clear their stances on Nevermere and Odina’s new role, and given the way soldiers had surrounded them not even an hour ago, Nevermere clearly expected some possibility of rebellion. Any failed attempt at a coup would only tighten the noose already draped around their necks. To challenge Odina so soon, in the middle of a village crawling with Nevermerean forces, with Nevermerean witches standing just out of sight— In Rina’s opinion, Sigyn would need a miracle to accomplish anything more than stabbing herself in the foot.
Should Odina Ellis successfully defend herself from Sigyn and with @revna showing no signs of attempting something similar, Rina would look toward the former. If Sigyn made another attack at Odina, she would move to try to intercept and disarm.
Unfortunately for the two Cambrians who tried to sneak in weapons, the Nevermere witches were highly trained and would do a full and completely search for any hidden weapons given the current situation and likelihood for such tactics. Sigyn and Revna would have their hidden weapons found and taken from them before they were allowed to enter the tent.
-I rolled a die to determine the odds of the weapons being found. -Sigyn needs to post next, going back in time to the post she made of her attack, to account for not having a weapon.
[Rewind: right after Odina says she wants Rina to be her second]
She listened to Odina Ellis speak and huffed. If those witches in front of the tent hadn't asked her to turn in her weapons, she would have considered attacking Odina right then and there. Luckily for the woman, she had been smart enough to have her invitees hand over their weapons.
She crossed her arms and her brow went down, causing the resting bitch face to intensify. Revna was still Isolde's second to Sigyn, so she would respect what the woman had asked of her: to stay quiet. She had failed this during the gathering, but for now she would just look displeased and shut up.

As far as Rina was concerned, both Revna and Sigyn had established where they stood on the matter of Odina and her appointment as Chieftess. Even if the years they spent as Isolde’s shadows didn’t already make for an easy inference regarding their loyalties, their objections at the announcement prior indicated that they would be among the dissenters. Now Rina’s neutral gaze found the pair as she paused, half expecting them to immediately voice their protests to this declaration as well. When Sigyn seemed content to stay silent, her attention shifted to Revna - the woman whose mantle Odina wanted her to carry.
She would let the Valkyrie speak first. In the event that she was not forthcoming, Rina would turn to the new Chieftess, heart racing with some combination of flattered and surprised. Whether Odina shared any of her reservations about Nevermerean influence in Cambria, she couldn’t know, but if she accepted the position as her Second, Rina would have the opportunity to temper the other kingdom’s reach where she could. To ensure that Cambrians did not lose the traditions and lifestyle that made them who they were.
“You know what you need in a Second in order to lead Cambria to the best of your ability,” She said after a moment, holding Odina’s gaze. “If you think that’s me, then I would be honored to stand by your side.”
"Ah so this is why you had us weaponless, you are afraid of me Odina? Well you should have just said so. Do you have a weapon? I bet if you stripped the Nevermere trappings there would be something on you, even with your magic you aren't half the Cambrian warrior any of us are. It's sad really, and you think it's right for you to lead?" Snorting, Revna shook her head and looked at Odina, no pity in her eyes, just disappointment.
It was just... So Nevermere this whole thing. "All the bad that comes with this will be on your head Odina." Turning to Rina she nodded. "And you now as well Rina. Nevermere has gone where they were not allowed, they entered the Sanctum and sought their own justice. If either of you think this is the end you are as dumb as the ones who took her. Our real leader." Revna was sure that the King wouldn't stop here. Not now that he had a puppet. And if she was ever told to dance she would kill rather than leap to attention.
