The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Magic. Tallis could feel it in the air—perhaps the consequence of having four gifteds under one roof, but perhaps something more. Acacia Scorza filled a void in her soul that she’d always known was there. In a family ruled by women, the Scorza women shared a special kind of kinship that, now that she had it, made the world sing. Gianna also had found herself a special place in Tallis’s life—though that had been entirely unexpected. Tallis had never considered herself the maternal sort but, though she was rough with Gianna, she had to admit she’d started to have affection for the little brat.
All of this to say, Tallis was buzzing about constantly with unrestrained, maniac joy…which carried with it a special kind of danger.
With the day done, Tallis retreated to the room she and Cezar shared. While the two of them had maintained their own separate bedrooms over the years, not that sometimes that convention didn’t blur, the addition of two extra guests made it necessary for them to make the arrangement a permanent one. Tallis didn’t mind a bit. Her brother was her other half, and besides, it made it easier to keep up the pretense that they were married for their little ward’s benefit.
Tallis was readying for the evening. Freshly washed and scented with lavender oil, she was wrapping herself in a dressing gown when she heard the door open.
“And I thought I was going to have to come fetch you.” Tallis teased, turning as she tied the sash around her waist.

Their home had certainly been more busy and noisy than it had for a long time and even Cezar found himself energized by the activity and the thrill of having actually found another Scorza. Cezar wondered where Acacia's twin had ended up but with so much happening lately, it was a conversation that had yet to actually happen. He was definitely not disappointed by the change in sleeping arrangements. He would have loved to share a bed with a Tallis long term for a long time now but while they were a perfect match in so many ways, there had always been a disconnect in this aspect of their lives.
Cezar had started to fall for Tallis before realizing who they were to each other and that feeling couldn't be erased by circumstance. He had always found it hard to limit his love for her just because they were siblings. If Cezar had his way he'd want Tallis to be his wife for real. Yet her lack of desire was a big mismatch for his high sex drive, they simply were not compatible enough in that way to not also seek for other connections outside of their facade of being wed.
Still, that didn't mean his desire for her had ever lessened and when he stepped in the room to be met with the sight of her he felt familiar butterflies in his belly. She was so beautiful. Why didn't she want him the way he wanted her? He smiled at her tease. "Me? You've never had to do that before," he teased back. She had in fact had to do that many times before when he'd get lost in a project and have a hard time realizing it was as late as it really was.
"You, my dear, are beaming," he said, moving over to her and wrapping his arms around her from behind, placing a kiss to her shoulder. "Is everything going according to your master plan, darling?" he asked with a grin.

Tallis’s heart didn’t flutter. Her breath didn’t quicken and her body didn’t awaken the way another woman’s might have under Cezar’s touch. Instead she felt the way one does when the sun emerges from behind a cloud. The pure joy and warmth of the rays sinking into your skin. Cezar was her other half: when he was close, she was whole. She chuckled wrapping her arms around his.
“Even the best laid plans go awry, but this? No—“ she turned around to face him, eyes bright, “This is providence. Destiny.” Tallis grinned, kissing him on the cheek before going over to the vanity to contain her curls for the evening.
“What do you think of her?” Tallis asked as she drew a silk scarf from the drawer, “Quite remarkable, isn’t she?”

Tallis didn't ache for him in the same ways that he did for her but that didn't mean they lacked love or need for one another. They were still two halves of a whole and the lack of physical intimacy between them didn't translate to a lack of love or need. Yin and Yang. Light and darkness. Day and night. They were not complete without one another and he'd grown to recognize that in her demeanor.
He began to undress and she moved back to the vanity, discarding his shirt to reveal his toned bare chest and undoing the buttons on his pants. She spoke of Acacia. Or at least he assumed she wasn't changing the subject to talk about her little pet, Gianna. "She's magnificent," he agreed. "I'd love to see her use her gift more, perhaps training more or exploring to see what she can really do," he said thoughtfully.
"Any idea what happened to her twin?" he asked. He'd never pried about it but his gift and Tallis' were opposite of each others and he wondered what Acacia's twin might be capable of. Not to mention that finding Tallis had completed him in a way he hadn't known he needed. Perhaps the same could be true for Acacia. It was almost sad to know that she had a twin out there but was not with them. Alone in a unique kind of way that someone who wasn't Scorza might not understand.

Magnificent. Yes, that was the word for her. The word for any Scorza that knew their power and loved it instead of feared it. And what a sight they’d be together—at last. At Cezar’s question, Tallis shrugged.
“Separated, I suppose, like the rest of us,” She said, sitting to lounge on the bed, “It may take time to find him, but we should start. We will.” Tallis grinned at Cezar, “The two of us just got lucky.”
Tallis did not avert her eyes as Cezar undressed. She’d continued to watch, eyes a little distant with the all-to-familiar scheming smirk on her face.

Cezar smiled, warmth filling his chest as she spoke. "Very lucky indeed," he agreed. He had never have thought he'd live to be quite so lucky. Since she'd arrived in his life everything had been better and their connection was indescribable. His love for her was unmatched and he knew no one could take that place in his life in any real capacity.
He was down to just his underwear when he saw that look in her eyes and he couldn't help but grin. "What do you have planned, my dear?" he asked, pulling back the blankets on the bed so he could sit down on his side while watching her with a smile.

Tallis rolled over to face him, propping her head up with an elbow. She was quiet for a moment, examining Cezar with her wild but penetrating gaze. Then, which a chuckle she’d reach out and run a finger down his nose before tapping it with her finger in a ‘booping’ motion.
“She could be good for you.” Tallis was going somewhere. Of course, she was. Leading Cezar the way that she’d lead a stallion to water…whether he would drink, was yet to be seen.

That strong, wild expression of hers always served to get him going, his heart racing, and his blood pumping. But she was also good at quelling that, a skill she built over the years. With a simple laugh and a boop of his nose he knew better than to try to do anything with her tonight. She simply didn't enjoy it the way that he did and he often wondered which one of them was on the more 'normal' spectrum of sexual desire. Did she have a particularly low drive or did he have a particularly high one? He often thought it might be a mix of both which only left them even further from each other on that spectrum.
His brows pulled together at her comment though and he looked at her with hesitant curiosity. "What do you mean?" Why him specifically? And why did that comment make him feel so nervous?

Tallis stayed the course. Sensing the change in her brother the way a horse smells a change in the wind, she touched a hand to his cheek, dragging her fingertips along the stubbled surface. Tallis was no fool. She could feel as well as he did the tension that held at the center of their connection. Tallis saw what it did to him, and it hurt to see him suffer. That’s why…
“She’s a beauty. A Scorza beauty. And with her, with more like us, just think of what we could build together…” She continued to stroke his cheek in a soothing motion.
