The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Actually, Octavius understood. She didn't need to explain anything else. He hadn't been able to reach that conclusion on his own, but hearing the words coming from Kat now, he could understand exactly.
"I get it." He said honestly with a shrug of his shoulders. "That makes sense. And..." his face grew a little more sad, his eyes earnest, "I'm sorry." Because she was stuck. Leaving her husband wasn't an option. She was stuck with a man who had betrayed her in one of the most hurtful ways.
Kat waved away the apology. Because she was guilty of using the whole thing to her own advantage, not that she felt bad about it at all. Using his position to help was the least that he could do. But either way she didn't need anyone's pity, no matter how well-intentioned it might be. "I'm fine." Finishing her drink fast she stood up. This had all been a bit much, and she'd had too much too fast, so it was time to go.
"Well this was interesting. See you tomorrow at training." Holding the table for a second she took a breath, letting the room still while she dropped some coins on the table for the drinks. She just needed a second and then she'd be off to home with her siblings, and then maybe to the estate if she didn't pass out.

Octavius' eyes grew large as she waved his empathy aside and made to leave. Well...that was abrupt, but also understandable. She seemed the type to run from the hard, and he couldn't blame her. That was easier than facing it and having to deal with it (usually).
"Yeah, uh, see you tomorrow." Octavius returned. He'd leave, too, but he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of going right away. Let her think he intended to hang out longer with...these randos. Ahem, yeah.
